  • It's been a minute since I've made a vlog, so I was super excited to film and create this one!
    My brother and I buy a 100k mile B8.5 S4 to replace his Cadillac ATS, and boy this car blows away expectations.

    Good to know the S4 b8.5 still will rock after 100k with a APR tune..might convince me to keep my stage 2 a bit longer...

      @@x7N1NJ47x How has it been after 8 months? There's a 2016 with 92k miles that is in my price range and I haven't seen much info on higher mileage ones. It felt good to drive but this would be my first car that I'll have over 100k miles on.

      @@Black-nf3tx tbh it’s a pretty safe choice! I’d say it’s a big bonus if you can get one with all the service history done to it, but otherwise mine’s been in tip-top shape! I had a *very* rare setback with the steering column going bad on mine, but after lots of googling and asking technicians, my case is extra rare so it’s taken with a grain of salt. Make sure the trans is in good shape, and check for oil leaks and I’d say pull the trigger! This car been the most fun I’ve had in years.

      @@x7N1NJ47xhow about now? Lol. I’m looking to buy one in a few days and but it’s got chain rattle on cold start for a few seconds. Is this something I need to worry about? Do I need to get that repaired cause I know it’s expensive. Or is it fine and nothing to worry about as long as it doesn’t get worse.

    I’m looking into buying one of these to replace my MK7 Golf. I know that the 3.0T is a reliable engine but I am also aware of the age of the B8/8.5s. Is maintenance on these bad? I’d say I’m pretty mechanically inclined, but is there much to worry about other than the oil leaks, PCV, and water pump and such?

    • @connorbarton5041
      @connorbarton5041 8 месяцев назад

      Pcv, water pump, thermostat, trans service very important if dsg, and cats also blow up which can blow up ur engine even on stock tune, they go out around 100k,timing chain should be good but if rattles for few seconds on startup most likely timing chain tensioner, after you get those done they are really reliable engines, very easy to make power but have bad heat soak so need heat exchanger, downpipe intercooler intake stage one 420ish horsepower sub 4 second 0-60 12< second quarter mile

      Had to do full front suspension rebuild and the welds on the cat snapped due to motor mounts. About $10k in maintenance later since some work we brought to a shop
