I have an ‘18 A4 but drove a Q3 recently as a loaner when my car was in for maintenance. Q3 was ok, but the engine sounded loud and unrefined with a cabin that was generally less hushed, less luxurious, and with lower quality materials. When I got back into my A4, these differences felt even more striking. In fairness, the A4 is on Audi’s MLB platform while the Q3 shares the same MQB platform as an A3 and VW Golf.

Thanks for saying this, iv wondered how they would compare as they can be similarly priced depending on specs. I think the A4 has always seemed like a smaller A6 whereas the Q3 has always seemed like a fancy larger VW T-Roc

Q3 owner here. For some quirky reason, every now and then, the lane centering feature turns off and you have to go into the vehicle settings and turn it back on. The lane keep is actually pretty good and on par with Hyundai/Genesis.

Mine did this too. They have been working on mine for quite a bit to resolve the issue I don’t think enough people know about this issue and so Audi doesn’t realize it’s an issue.

I own this car and it is very nice. Average fuel economy is probably closer to 30-32 mpg

Still great given how heavy the vehicle is i mean its 4000 lbs of pure metal.

@@441meatloaf It’s just a nice car to drive. Good pickup, spacious in the back - it is a solid car and so called luxury cars didn’t change in price throughout the pandemic, but the economy cars did.

Is this the komfort 45 or progressive 45?

I previously owned an A3 sedan followed by an A5 sport back prior to my Q3. To sum it all up, it’s an otherwise wonderful premium vehicle that’s let down by a not so premium drivetrain. The 45 2 litre engine sounds extremely grainy at high RPM and the 8 speed transmission is what really lets this vehicle down. Clunky rough shifting in higher gears and it gets even worse as it lurches through downshifts when braking. Everything else however is typical top notch Audi. A gorgeous modern interior, solid quality finishes and the baby Q8 design. In winter driving while the Haldex AWD is not real “Quattro” performs extremely well in slippery conditions with barely any hesitation in kicking the other wheels into motion for seamless traction. My advice? Spring for the Q5 and enjoy the refinement that a real Audi should be known for.

Seems loud on the highway, is it loud?

i drive teh 2023 q3. the door tag specifies 38 psig when fully loaded, 5 occupants. for 3 or less occupants, the tire pressure should be 33 psig. the q3 is much more responsive with the tranny in dynamic mode. ive been seeing the higher 34 mpg numbers, while driving with the transmission in automatic mode. i drove a 2015 audi a4 before and yes it drives better,

If I were considering this vehicle, it would be a fat no for me. I'd rather upgrade to a Kia Sorento or Telluride instead.

Not the same league cant compare Lux brand to a non-lux line. Its a better comparison if you consider the GV70.

Lol, my $24k Mazda 3 has more features and better ride comfort than the Q3. Better materials, too. Though, the Q3 is handsome.

@@441meatloaf I’m not offended by other brands lol and would hardly call myself a fanboy. I’ve owned VW, Audi, Honda, etc. I’ve never owned a Q3 but my dad had one as a loaner and I wasn’t impressed. His Q5 is very nice, however.

@@lukeheffernan Loaner Q3s are usually low end Komfort models cause its a loaner....no one buys a komfort trim Audi since its base features. Also depends on the model yr. Anything pre 2019 Q3s are absolute trash cause its the first gen and its not good.
But the newer ones are much improved since Audi did bring the Q8 tech to the A3 and Q3.
