I love that I’m starting to recognize a lot of these puzzlers just from your videos. Honestly the way you create these videos makes it almost feel like an Olympics recap when you can’t watch the whole event 💖
I was one of the Did Not Finish in individuals prelim 2. I was in Purgatory Produce from Hell for 2 hours. The worst 2 hours EVER. But I qualified for pairs finals and did finish with my partner in the time allotted. Let’s just say if I didn’t have a pairs partner and only did Individual round I would probably never do a competition again. My state doesn’t do competitions (yet) so this was my first experience and it didn’t boost my confidence. However, the weekend got better and I enjoyed myself as I was with my tribe of puzzle lovers so that made up for it! (And it was a plus to finish pairs finals!) After my Purgatory Produce from Hell experience I don’t time myself anymore! Congrats on all your accomplishments! It was fun to see you in person! And you got me in the video! Wow! (43:40 time mark)

Not only would he intentionally give himself 40 extra seconds in penalty for missing them, but it's also much more difficult to find the right piece when you're missing neighbouring pieces and he could easily end up waisting time trying to find a piece that's litterally not there.
Shout out to Becca Taylor for slowing herself down just a little to try and give a fist bump to her tablemate that finished before her. That's sportsmanship right there!
Hi Karen! I watched the livestreams but I really enjoy watching your recaps. I wanted to point out how nice it is that you put everyone's name on screen! It makes it easier to follow, during the livestreams it was sometimes hard to know who was who! And this one everyone is appreciated :)

Hi Karen, Just wondering, why don't have any video editor in to help you out? seems like such a huge project to create this video on your own. I hope you don't get burn out. The editing looks fantastic BTW and i like your coverage of competitions better than the official livestreams.
I really loved putting Jazzy together with a friend. We've never puzzled together before and we're not speed puzzlers. She was game to give it a go. I set a two hour time and off we went. We didn't complete it, but did get 471 pieces together. We both feel we probably would have if we were at the competition.
@@macicowata after reading your comment. i looked at the picture of the puzzle again and agree with you that it's AI. so many of the fruits and bottles were morphing into one another.
Also one thing for the first pairs prelim after everyone finished the last pair was these 2 older ladies Jeanne and Carole and everyone in the chat was cheering them on so much and we all know if they had like an half hour more they would’ve finished.
You can see the stress from the past few years as she gets more popular and is participating in more speed puzzling is popping up in Karen's roots, I really hope she takes enough breaks and doesn't burn herself out too badly!
I was also tricked by the yellows (those darn lemons!) and had a similar thought process around the 40min mark! The glare was particularly rough on the produce puzzle!
I have never watched puzzles competition before, but the RUclips algorithm recommended you and I really loved it! The pace and the commentary is so nicely done , and I really like the data presentation too. This looks like a very very wholesome competition ❤ Thanks for sharing this!

Karen, your channel has already motivated me to have another go at puzzling. The competitions look like great fun so I'm aiming to enter one eventually, but I want to get to the point where I can do so without completely embarrassing myself... of course I'm never actually going to win but I do at least want to avoid being the only person who doesn't finish! Thus far I clearly still have a long way to go - possibly because one of the puzzles I'm trying is of Monet's Water Lilies painting. It's basically all shades of green and blue, so unsurprisingly it's a bit difficult and it's taking me absolutely ages.

Living in Thailand, the first puzzle i a very coherent image, easy to recognize, easy to group the details. The one you got in the prelim was completely confused.
I was already thinking: watch out and don't mix tiles with the neighbour. And then it happened! I would definitely put some barrier between the players.
I know the feeling at 16:00 all too well. When you've made something "your thing" and you're supposed to be good at it, but you feel like you aren't living up to your expectations, and the Impostor Syndrome becomes a sickening feeling in your gut producing real physical reactions. You want to crawl in a hole and stop trying, but there was probably a reason you placed those expectations on yourself in the first place so if you can just overcome those feelings you'll often be able to make a moment you can be proud of later.
I love seeing everyone's techniques. Especially Simmie Berman practically climbing on top of the table 😂 You know they're in The Zone when they start getting up from their seats.
