Fr. Mark, I just wanted to share how much the Sparkly Star Notebook method has helped me change some of my habits. Your emphasis on making micro-changes and taking things one spec of sand at a time resonated with me. Before using the Sparkly Star Notebook, I often felt overwhelmed by the prospect of changing habits or behaviors. But breaking them down into small, manageable steps and celebrating each little victory with a sparkly star has made a world of difference. For example, I've been trying to incorporate more physical activity into my daily routine, and instead of aiming for big, unrealistic goals, I've been focusing on something as simple as taking a short walk every day. Each time I achieve this, I mark it down in my notebook and give myself a sparkly star. Over time, these small victories have added up, and I've noticed a significant improvement in my behavior and my routines. Thank you for sharing this wonderful tool and for your inspiring message of making positive changes one step at a time. It's made a real difference in my life, and I'm grateful for your guidance.
Beautiful and inspiring message. 🌟 Blessings to you!! 🙏🏼🕊
God bless you and I wish you a star ⭐ filled weekend, full of God's Love! 💖💖💖
We are grateful that you shared this with us, and I'm glad to see that our dear Fr. Mark was also able to show you his gratitude! :) ❤️

Excellent advice!! ♥️🌟 Thank you Father Mark. I am guilty of checking RUclips after my morning prayer time to see if your latest video/homily has been posted. 😊 Looking forward to using my “Sparkly Star Notebook” during Lent for praying the entire Rosary daily and keeping on track with the Daniel Fast. God bless you always!!

Thank you all for passing.

I said a prayer for Ollie. I pray that Ollie is comforted by Our Lord and that he is healed through Jesus Sacred Heart and His Divine Mercy. All mercy flows through Our Immaculate Mother Mary. I pray that Mary intercedes through her Son Jesus Christ. God bless you. 🙏❤️
I too saw Ollie's video. It was truly heartbreaking. If your parish has a rosary chain or Chaplet of Divine Mercy chain, pleas add Ollie to their list. I'm not sure what Ollie's last name is, but if anyone knows please post. Thank you and God bless.

Thank you and God bless you! 🌟💖🙏
I will try to find out his last name for you. Yes, we have parishioners at our local Catholic Church praying for him, and I will make sure the Rosary and the Divine Mercy Chaplet at Church are also dedicated to him. I dedicate every Mass I attend and every holy Eucharist I receive to him. Thank you again for your prayers and kindness. I wish you a wonderful weekend, full of God's Love.

@@sandyshore8787 thank you. Your prayers mean a lot.
You are so right Father! I am on retreat with the Carmelites and there is no connection in my cell… and how liberating it is! I have realised that my reading has decreased over time because of the I Pad. Fr Clive UK
When I retired I promised myself that I would re-read all my beautiful best loved book collection-but I didn’t reckon on the internet coming along and taking up so much of my time. I have to make a great effort to look out my books, and I manage it at times. I’ve also just purchased a lovely book about the Miraculous Medal, and am rediscovering the joy of burying myself in a real book again. I also have Kindle books on my iPad, many of them spiritual in nature, and have even put the Bible on it. I think there is a happy medium between reading in the time honoured way and taking advantage of modern technology. I try not to dwell on the doom and gloom online and focus on uplifting channels like this one. Regards from Scotland!
The Internet is an addition, Father Mark. I've struggled with this, too, I'm sure many have. The way I see it, Jesus will not want to spend much time with one covered in the sludge of the world. Pure and Holy, smelling great. That's what we should be for Him!
Good morning Fr Goring i’d like to let you know it is not childish. Everyone should be discipline and that is a good thing God. Bless.! Praying for you. 🙏🏻❤️✝️🕯️📿
I recently set an alarm on my phone which is an internet curfew - no non-essential internet is allowed after a certain time about 1hr 15 min before my bedtime. I was wasting too much time and staying up too late, this helps me get to bed on time. Highly recommended!!
I love God, the Catholic Church, and Fr Mark!
I appreciate your prolific online ministry Fr Mark.
I pray that God bless and keep you!

Thank you Father Mark!
Dear Father: I wanted to share with you a beautiful memory of when I attended St. Mary's in Ottawa Adoration times in the mid to late 1980's. I think the Companions of the Cross was just starting as an Order then or a little earlier. Adoration times were 24/7 every day, every hour. My time to be with Jesus was 12:00 midnight, Sarurday evenings. Because it was dark, and I was a single woman, I used to bring my beautiful large dog with me to Adoration. As I entered the tiny Chapel, I knelt down on both knees, bowed my head and prayed before entering the church pew. As I knelt down, my dog, went down onto his haunches like super fast, "boom" onto his haunches beside me. He was not a well behaved dog usually, full of rambunctions, but I loved him immensely. I KNOW he knew Jesus then. I KNEW he knew that Jesus was present. It was the most beautiful experience I had, had in the presence of Our Lord in Adoration. For the full hour, my dog lay on his haunches and respected Jesus' presence.
I dont know if dogs were allowed in the Chapel, but I was alone with Jesus and my dog. It was super special for me, and I hope my time with Jesus on Saturday evenings, midnight, with my dog, was special for Jesus too. Jesus is and was everything to me then and 40 years later, now! My dog taught me a lot about love and living with Jesus in every second of my day, as I still try to adore Jesus in my heart as I walk through out my day.
I was a very shy person in my late 20s, and my dog was my constant companion, like Jesus was as I walked through my day. Im 65 now, and dont live in Ottawa any longer.
Thank you for listening to this, my beautiful memory, of St. Mary's in Ottawa. Love from the Ottawa Valley! I'll have to come meet you one day on Sunday or other times for weekly Mass, to bring my memories of LOVE back to my heart from St. Mary's Parish. God Bless! Elizabeth
Thank you for sharing this with us...very moving..
FYI...Dogs don't ever belong in a church, unless you're blind. They usually make you leave them in the car, or in the vestibule, but not in the church itself, because it's considered sacrilegious .
@@DogtownTradingCo Thank you for your opinion but I'm sorry for your opinion, if I may say so. I do believe that at St. Mary's in the 1980s they had a special day where they blessed people's pets on St. Francis of Assisi Day.
And, I'm terribly sorry, St. Anthony of Padua wouldnt agree with you. And Im not sure St. Francis of Assisi would agree with you either. Animals in Church are not sacrilegious! God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit created all things, even animals. Its just not our custom to have animals in Church. I was alone and my beautiful dog wasn't bothering anyone.
Jesus knew when He was born that animals were his blessed companions at His Nativity for it was the animals who were His first witnesses of his birth, in this world! They hold that special place in Our Lord's birth story throughout all of time! And, the fact that God in the Old Testament asked for animal sacrifices to atone for people's sins, yet at Jesus' Nativity, it was the animals who held the position as first glorious witnesses to Jesus' birth, and reflect in the most beautiful way to join the Old Testament with the New Testament in God's glorious plan of animals and Jesus' sacrificial life.
And, .... St. Anthony of Padua already convinced us that even animals bow down and are obedient to Our Lord in the Eucharist. In the 1300s, a mule knelt down to the Holy Eucharist in front of St. Anthony of Padua, proving to all the world for all time, that ALL CREATURES BOW DOWN AND OBEY JESUS...... just like my beautiful Doberman did, at St. Mary's beautiful tiny Chapel in the 1980s. There is nothing sacrilegious in God's Creation and Creatures! This concept is a sacrilegious statement as God Himself chose the first lambs to be the chosen sacrifice of the Old Testament people!
I hope you understand that, that moment with my beautiful dog, at St. Mary's tiny beautiful Adoration Chapel was and will remain, the most beautiful moment in my life....KNOWING....AND EXPERIENCING what St. Anthony of Padua proved to the world! I STILL REMEMBER IT with all my heart, and I'm brought to tears now remembering the absolute precious beauty of the moment.
I hope you can experience this kind of specialness in Jesus' creatures seeing the beauty, majesty, brilliance, and benevolence of OUR LOVING LORD IN HIS CREATURES AND HOW THEY OBEY HIM bringing to the fullness His own life between the Old and New Testament as the ultimate sacrifice for all of us for all time.
I knew then at that moment in the Adoration Chapel, at St. Marys in Ottawa, that Yago, my dog, wasn't mine! He was God's! I'm sorry. I can't stop crying. I pray for you!
@nancyscanlon6045 Thank you Nancy. I hope everyone can experience the special beauty in seeing God's Creatures OBEY and Give Him Homage, in their own sacred way! If we learn about God's Will on Earth through the writings of Luisa Picarretta, we will know, that what I experienced in that moment with Yago, alllll Creatures on earth will do when Jesus returns. Amen!
St. Anthony of Padua even preached to the fish and they all lined up from smallest to tallest, in the water, half in and half out, listening to him preach.
Wise men still follow Him🌟. Praise God 🙏🕊
Before I go on my phone or internet I say my morning prayers. Prayers to God in morning come before internet or cell phone
Great idea! I think the star system will work wonders for me too! God Bless you Fr Mark!
Love it for Lent. And I was laughing about the stars!
Fr. Mark,
As a former educator, stickers for completed work marked progress for the students.
Later in life I assisted in a women's workout program, and if the woman's journal showed completed exercises/goal setting, she would get a
sticker.
Each adult benefitted from the sticker showing progress! It works with all ages.
❤
No laughing. Great advice. As always. Thanks Father Goring.
I can sadly relate to this annoying and distracting bad habit please God heal me of it.
Thanks for the message. Thought you were specifically talking to me! :) I hope you have a good day Fr. Mark.
My pathetic life needs this. I just listened to your message while still in bed before getting up.. late. I think I’ll make your sparkly star notebook a Lenten observance and see how that goes. 💙
This is not childish.. this is amazing! Thank you Father Mark - God bless you! More of these kinds of products please! 😊🙏

Dear Father in Heaven grant us wisdom and the desire to break bad habits. Ame.
Same here! Thank you for bringing this up!
We need to remember that we had a life before the internet and we will hopefully have a eternal life after the internet.

And you are hilarious and great advice for the stars
Thank you, Fr. , for reminding me.
Thank you Fr. I needed this message! Vivaaaa
Thank you Fr Mark.
I love your creative way to get rid of your bad habits ❤.
Psychologists believe that it's always more effective to get rid of something negative by replacing it with something positive.
Giving yourself a star for being successful is rewarding, a pat on the back, and it makes you feel good so it's motivating.
I am experiencing similar problems with the cell phone that really frustrates me so I am going to try this for Lent. Hope it works for me too.
God bless you for sharing your strong faith in such humility and sincerity 🙏
Nice one Fr.Mark
Be careful you don't get addicted to

Ty🙏 Father Mark,
I was trying to find a way to stop looking at my cell phone first thing in the morning and with Lent coming up it’s a good way to start talking to God first. Although I do listen to you and other Spiritual guidance Priest etc… on RUclips.
I just need to prioritize God first in the a.m. the rest can wait.

What ever works, it’s important to pray and spend time with God. 👏🏼❤️🕊

I would never laugh at that. We have to be deliberate in our choices we make. Otherwise, we find that these bad habits can overtake us. We must remain vigilant and prayerful. Thank you for everything, Father Mark.
Thank you for the Sparkly Star notebook! The sparkly star charts in Catholic School was a huge motivational tool! My daughter & I start on Ash Wednesday and we’re both going to overcome some bad habits & change them into good! 😉. Great idea!!
Thank you, Fr. Mark! God bless you and all!🙏💖

The Sparkly Star Notebook is simple genius. I’ve been using it since Jan., when my bad habits creep in, I just challenge myself the next day to earn the star. I love it! Thank you and blessings Fr Mark!
I'm a retired K teacher...LOVE this idea..FYI trying to limit internet time too...but here I am listening to you😅
Boy can I relate to that! Thankyou for sharing this .
I, too, use the internet a lot. I feel more of an info warriors. There is so much happening right now, and I feel called to be not only informed but to share as much as I can. I feel God wants the evil exposed and removed. I just ask God for His wisdom and discernment
Good morning 🌞 Father from Texas 🤠
Very well put, Fr. Goring. Thank you for being honest and admitting this.
I needed to hear this today. God is so good to feed us exactly what we need daily. Thank you Fr. Mark for being His server.
I have the exact same problem that I was yelling at myself about this morning. At least I'm in good company. I'll pray for both of us.
We laughed when you said go ahead and laugh. Whatever works to strengthen and to grow closer to the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen. Bless you, Fr. Mark 🙏🏼✝
Going to find this, but I don’t shop Amazon. I decided if I couldn’t find something somewhere else, I didn’t need it. I very rarely break this habit I formed by decision. But this is a great incentive tool! Thank you and God bless.
Father, you are such a special person, always striving to share with us what lil' steps can make us better on our journey to heaven. God bless you!@
We love you and the pure and simple way you do things... thank you Fr Mark... I needed to hear this as well.
May we be like little children before God.
Viva Christo Rey🕯🕯🕯
Just got my Sparkly star notebook. I hope it helps me improve my shortcomings. Sometimes they seem too big to tackle but this notebook is sure to help. God Bless everyone.
Father many of our morning prayers are on the internet, i.e. = the surrender novena, rosaries, st. Michael chaplet, and several other prayers; like this video from you!!! Therefore I look at my computer nearly every morning; this is the deal "it works!"
I, too, found myself going to the internet right after my morning prayer time. For me, since I have retired, I'll just close my eyes and rest a little longer. Since I typically am awake sometime after 3 a.m., there is still time before sunrise to quietly reflect upon the day's readings or The Liturgy of the Hours of that morning.
But what caught my eye this morning on this you-tube post wS the time in the lower right corner. "3:33"
3:33, somehow, is the time I awake nearly every morning. When I inquire about this odd time that I wake up each morning, my spiritual director mentioned that it may be my Guardian Angel prompting me that it's time to pray.
The internet is a huge deterrent for my day. It interferes with my prayers. I'm going to do what you are advising! Thsnks. FR!!
Got my notebook and...... it works!
Reading scripture with my Rosary again (got lazy). Feels so nice to pray better! Thank you Fr. Mark !
Peace be to you 🙏
When i was younger I read the newspaper in the morning. Now I grab my phone and read the news on it. Its the same thing just a different medium.
1:53 I laugh (because I love this)
2:06 Fr. Mark “Go ahead and laugh.”
You’re the best Fr. Mark! 😂
I have already decided that I am giving up social media for lent. I will only check my emails every 3 days for bills etc. that’s it!
I will let everyone know that I won’t be on my iPad and if they want to hear from me they will have to just call me! Let’s see who does lol!
thank you Father Mark. every day I struggle with this as well. And everyday I make a new commitment...that lasts minutes only! We are like children! We are God's children and this reminds us of that fact. You make me smile and this is a very simple practical way to overcome our undesirable habits. I am going to give this a try. Thank you so much❤❤❤
We should always be like a child......

Tell yourself you Can’t then you want to! Tell yourself what you Can do! And then do it. One grain at a time… God bless you!
I long ago became a believer in the power of the written word. Amazing how much more actually gets accomplished once it is put down on paper!
Thanks Fr Mark! I am starting the Sparkly Star Notebook this Lent and hoping to keep it up throughout the year to help make better habits. I want to spend more time glorifying the Lord and doing the things I'm meant to be doing and less time wasting time. God bless you!
Fr Goring can literally thank God that his "internet addiction" is relatively mild. It could be much, much worse, so stay on the straight and narrow path Fr Goribg and avoid scandal on the internet.🙂
WOW. Did his message come at the right time as I myself have been struggling with the same debacle. That email just sucks you in!!! Thank you padre. God Bless and happy Lent to all
Love your proactive approach to changing habits

Wow, this is very awesome Maria :)🌟💖🙏
Funny, someone in this channel mentioned how they often thank God for having hot water. For the last few years, I have been praying daily that Catholic prayer of offering everything up to God daily. I was shown this really works...by the grace of God, I was able to pass my "little cold water 💦" trial in the middle of a snowy winter ❄️ day last Lent, and was able to offer it up as a small sacrifice...the good Lord rewarded me and He sanctified the whole experience...frankly I'm anxious about this coming Lent, because I want to "outdo" myself compared to last year's Lent, and it might be a lifetime before I will be able to even come close to it...😊
God bless you dear Maria and I wish you a wonderful weekend, full of God's Love!

He always helps me in the smallest of ways!
God bless you always, Lara!! I know He will help us this Lent! 🙏💕🤗

God IS already helping us! You were able to reply to my first reply in time, because the (sometimes) fickle and moody and petty moderator of this channel has removed my first reply to you, as you can see, making it look like you are talking to yourself...he he LOL 😆🤣
But we're not out of the woods yet, I've had at least two whole strings of comments removed, one very recently, including two short main posts I made about Saints. Inconceivable...😊
But it can get even better...Dogtown has had a post removed recently, which already had 70+ likes, he he LOL 😆😂
But wait, even better, I was shadow banned one Friday, during the last month or so, meaning only I could read my posts, but no one else, not even Dogtown. That's the only reason why I had to create the Joan of Arc account, so if you ever see her, it's me, and know that I'm not having an "identity problem"...he he LOL
🌟💖🌺💖🌺💖🌟
@@zionlion4445 I didn't know that could happen!! Terrible!! I have seen Joan of Arc comments!! Very clever of you!! Often, I look for your comments before I listen to the video! I find them inspirational, consoling, and comforting.

I love your website. I very often go back to your time on a paddle board on the Great Lakes to put life in perspective. I live in central Minnesota and will not avoid your website!! God Bless!
This has been on my heart too father. I have limited time by myself to do the things I need and want to do. And have developed a bad habit of going to the internet before my prayers or after. And my heart keeps saying this is a bad habit. But as a compromise I just go right to your videos if I feel tempted to go on the internet before or after my morning prayer and readings. So great minds think alike father! Thank you for the reminder :)
excellent, Father Mark
Thanks for sharing
All true.
And no, it's not childish. It's the necessary foundation of self-discipline.
Hi Fr Goring, yes I also tend to check iPhone, iPad throughout the day, praying to reduce this habit during lent ❤
#100 So good to start day with you ! Thank you Father.
When we humble ourselves before the Lord, His peace descends upon us and we are led to live in a higher plane closer to Him! We are supposed to be like children, grateful and hopeful, expressing wonder before the Lord! Thank you Fr. Mark!
I go on wonder walks too❤
Thank You Father I send to much time on you tube instead of doing work around the house. I have started though prayiing and scripture reading and catechism reading before i do get on you tube but then i am all day until night not doing anything
around the house. I am 77 years old now and have gotten lazzy.
Fr. Mark you are soooo right! This is a good reminder because I do the same thing and going to the internet for the news right after my holy hour is a real downer and I've meant to not do it! Maybe I should get the Sparkly Star book too!! 🙏🙏
That's a good idea. I'm always on my phone searching on FB and RUclips. Need that book
It is great what you are doeing, very effective! It is a sort of re-programming, and being rewared for the new steps,. and as all good habbits, we need to be reminded,. Its good, bless you,.
It may seem “childish” but we all know that to enter Heaven we should not stop being like children! Pure, innocent and most importantly, 100% confident in God!!
God bless you Fr Goring
Thank you Father. I am struggling with the same thing as well. Will check it out
Father Mark, I have been struggling mightily with sloth all my life but especially recently, and your advice was timely. Many thanks for reminding me of the wisdom of the ant (Prov. 6:6); with the help of our Lord and the intercession of our Lady, I pray to be delivered and heed Col. 3:23 "whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord".
Its great
like being back at Junior School God Star for you Mark !!
I'd already decided to not get on FB for Lent, except to wish someone a happy birthday and my live FB Chaplet that my friend and pray each day. This is going to be very challenging for me, so I believe this video is hepful for me and I may go back to it in times of temptation. While I am in some Catholic FB groups, I really don't need to be on as much. Hoping this Lenten fast will enable me to use FB in moderation afterwards (or give it up)..
Great reminder. I have my book and will start during lent. The internet and social media are engineered to keep us addicted.
