FANtastic! Miss Anika is just one of the greatest acting talents around these days, and then her singing and incredible beauty! Loved her as Grace on HBO's "The #1 Ladies Detective Agency" (if you never saw the series, seek it out--great stuff). Plus, she breaks my heart on the "Caroline, or Change" cast recording. THEN, we get JRB and a kick-ass band--heaven!

@BeLoudBeProud Actually all the women you are referring to were cast as understudies or stand-bys. There has yet to be a "black" Elphaba as the sole lead on Broadway. However there was Alexis Khadime in the West End.

I know Saycon Sengbloh was early on, wasn't she? Or was she an understudy? And, I know Mandy Gonzalez, who I know is hispanic not black, was post-ITH. I think Brandi Chavonne Massey was. Nicole Parker was on the tour. I know I'm missing one, but I'd be willing to bet that my mind is playing tricks on me because I didn't know that Teal Wicks was white until after I saw her out of makeup in something else.
what is the lyric change? I can't hear it! Instead of, "Looked like Tom Cruise" she says something else...
