The Hagia Sophia is honestly one of the most beautiful buildings I've ever seen, a massive architectural phenomenon, and on the inside a beautiful balanced array of mosaics of Christian art from the Eastern Romans and Muslim art from the Ottomans, I have a huge respect for The Ottomans for having such a great respect for the building and Romans that they kept the Original 1000 year old Christian art untouched and just added their own for us to enjoy hundreds generations later, I believe it's a museum now.
I find it hilarious that to this late date they still maintained the Principate notion of the Roman “Republic” 😂
I think they kept up the allusion of a "Republic" until the 9th Century. Which is just laughably incredible

It was a museum. Erdogan changed it to a mosque again.

*Solomon, I have surpassed you!"
This is what Justinian said when he saw Hagia Sophia completed.
