I've made these in the past & plan to make them again this year. The only difference is that your recipe adds vanilla, which I'll have to try. Once I used chocolate chips instead of the white chips & chopped pecans instead of the candy dots. Very mild chocolate flavor & good, too.😢
THANK YOU!!! A friend made these and took me back to my Childhood when my Grandfather would stop at Kroger and buy a bulk bag of these for our trip to Alabama every Summer to see my Aunt and Uncle...LOVE this candy AND the great memories!!
I just made a batch of this candy and all I can say is, it's STICKY STICKY STICKY!!! and I think the reason they stopped making it is because it's to much work to clean up the machines. I'm worried my sink drain is going to clog now! They might have even found there are health problems to ones digestive tract eating this candy but it sure taste good!
This was always my favorite candy in my grandmother's candy drawer. They still make them but they are white and fluffy and not like the original at all! I'm looking forward to making these. :-)
@@andrewharald88 there is a Jersey county in Illinois but there is not a New Jersey in Illinois. However I know many people from your part of the world go to the Midwest such as Illinois and Michigan.
Fill up bowl with warm running tap water...let the water dissolve sticky candy from sides of bowl, about 15 to 30 minutes!! Wash bowl with warm soapy water!! ENJOY!!
Thanks for the recipe, made it and it was delicious. My only gripe, is, like most Americans posting food recipes here, they always use cups as a measure. I guess that there might be some truth in the theory that Americans can’t handle the metric system. Weights would help greatly, thanks.
It says a dollar for one box of dots when I look up dots but in my cart it is $35.71! The only gumdrops I can get a spice drops which I grew up with but I don't know if the little boy here for Christmas will like them or not.
You can get swedish fish or "juju" fish in those little hanging celo-bags of candy that USED to be 2/$1... now they are a little more than that, but for the color and texture of dots, its similar and less spendy, or any gummy candies, really, if you're not super particular, in those bags, or go to the dollar store for the candies... or someplace with bins, like winco.
@@Foods101withDeronda ...Thank you for your quick reply. I was so hoping I could use Gummi Bears because Dots are difficult to find and the only gumdrops I have found are the spiced ones (eewww) 😂
Walmart wants to charge me $71 for two boxes of dots! I do live in the state with the highest grocery prices in the 48 contiguous states but this is getting ridiculous! It's over $5 for a gallon of milk and the same for a box of cereal and that's great value brands! I can't afford christmas.

Your dentist approves this recipe
Can use any kind of brand ?
Yes, sure
Could you sub the white chocolate chips with butterscotch chips?
Yes :)
Maybe one half inch but they were pretty sturdy good size blocks. I remember having to chew for a very long time. :-)
Question....just how do you clean the stick bowl??🤷♀️🤦🏻♀️

What can I use for alternative to 2 & 1/2 cup white chocolate chips ?
Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chip for CHOCOLATE NOUGAT CANDY :)
@@Foods101withDeronda I meant instead of using chocolate, is there another product or ingredient

They need to be about at least one inch tall cubes.
Could you substitute Dots with Gummi Bears or Gummi Worms?
Sure!!
