Conakry est la capitale et la plus grande ville de Guinée. Une ville portuaire, il sert de centre économique, financier et culturel de la Guinée. Le Bureau des affaires africaines du département d’État des États-Unis a estimé que la population actuelle de Conakry est de deux millions. Conakry est devenue la capitale de la Guinée française en 1904 et a prospéré comme port d’exportation, en particulier après qu’un chemin de fer (maintenant fermé) à Kankan a ouvert l’intérieur du pays pour l’exportation d’arachides à grande échelle.

Conakry is the capital and largest city of Guinea. A port city, it serves as the economic, financial and cultural centre of Guinea. Its population as of the 2014 Guinea census was 1,660,973.The U.S. Department of State's Bureau of African Affairs has estimated that the current population of Conakry is two million, accounting for one-sixth of the entire population of the country.Conakry became the capital of French Guinea in 1904 and prospered as an export port, particularly after a railway (now closed) to Kankan opened up the interior of the country for the large-scale export of groundnut.
