So the sad thing is that CIG will make another ham fisted fix for this and simply not allow salvage in the hangar...instead of doing a more fitting and social fix. What they SHOULD do is to simply give you a CS and force you to stop operations if you salvage your own ships... but allow salvage of actual salvaged ships.
I just checked and I can see that this has already been flagged multiple times and is in a confirmed state over on the issue council. As such, it will be resolved in time and anyone caught exploiting this could face a ban of upto several months, the gains will of course likely be removed.
Banning people for demonstrating the extent of how the game can be exploited in a fucking alpha is absolute insanity, nobody can justify how it is not.
@@UNiTEDDKSilent21 Well the last time a major exploit happened it caused major server issues, which in turn would have used up development funds and thus I am not even slightly surprised they did lots of bans. The other issue I suspect is that the exploits mess with their data gathering for working out in game commerce models (something which they've started to put lots of time into recently) and this again would cost development funds and man hours to sift through or even require a complete fresh set of data. TLDR: I do see your point on the alpha gameplay, however the way I see it, if it is costing them money due to people exploiting then I think bans are totally fair.
They need to just fix exploits as quickly as possible instead of having players that find them banned. Players can't be bothered looking up what's been flagged as an exploit. To be clear, I'm not defending players that exploit, I just think fixing the root of the problem is the best solution.
@@fupu57 I’ve never tried salvaging but I was making 400k a trip on cargo selling beryl at orison, still doable but loading/unloading adds an hour to the trip now when it used to be 20mins per trip risking 1.5Milish of cargo. 30ks were really bad though so it was super risky lost full c2s of gold plenty of times
At first it seems like a good idea, but the risk of losing your ship in a silly way, like "randomly" exploding, needs to be resolved, otherwise it could hurt legitimate players that would then need to spend time earning the reclaim in-game currency for the ship.
@@Bubblegum_Ronin we should all be aware that insurance prices will likely go up in the future, along with times, but I agree, for now, there is too much risk. However, I'm not necessarily suggesting globally raising prices of reclaiming, simply making the reclaim cost more than the salvage is worth. Balancing that could both be lowering the resource value, resource quantity, as well as adjusting insurance. Without this balance, this will always be exploited. Even if they disable salvage within the hangar.
@@Anachroschismok, we're on the same page then, and I appreciate the clarification. Also once AI becomes more reliable, they could use it to counter insurance fraud in a more organic way. For example, and this is just one way and maybe not even a good one but off the top of my head, whenever a system check fails against insurance fraud (ie. is the ship owned - more on this in a sec), then a high percentage check can be made that a friendly AI "police" patrol shows up under the pretense to provide safety/escort to the salvager. If the police detect fraud while in the vicinity of the salvage, then a warning is issued, and escalating from there. While this most likely has its own issues, as it was a quick idea, I would like to see more creative solutions to the issues the game has the players experience. Let the players be "bad" and only restrict them through creative solutions. Like the new hangers coming up.. if someone doesn't belong there they get teleported away, but I'd prefer an automated gun watching the elevator entrance 😊.
