Thank you so much for this video brother. I just got an 09 with the 2TR-FE motor. I am going to replace this plastic bs before it fails. You are doing a great service producing these videos. Thank you man.
I have a 2005 Tacoma 4 cylinder / 5 speed. I removed the left front wheel and the splash aprons. I think you could remove the coolant by pass pipe without removing the intake manifold if you remove the starter ( 2 bolts ). You can gain accuse to the heater and throttle body hoses with the starter removed. I figure you can rotate the tube 90 degrees and remove the tube from the bottom. Just reverse for installing the new tube.
Good to know I'm working on a 2008 Tacoma 2.4 cylinder having the same issue and I thought the same thing can't you get to it from the bottom Good info thank you
This is a very helpful video. Just did this replacement today on my 2006 2.7L Tacoma. Also new thermostat/seal, Tstat housing gasket and new intake manifold gasket. I got a new TB gasket but it was too small so I reused the old one. Had no problems. Thank you!
Very good video been searching for video like this I have a 2008 Tacoma 2.4 exact same problem I thought it was a water pump so I change that out and I mess up on my torque specification snapping off both bolts the long ones inside the block and that wasn't even the problem it was a heater bypass hose that is leaking so now that I know that I guess I need to subscribe to your channel to find out how you took off the whole intake system I can turn a wrench or two but not much of a mechanic more of a carpenter but excellent video right to the point thank you
Great video and tips to have diagram ready with which bolt goes where. I have few questions. 1. Do the intake gasket really need to be changed? 2. Did you use an aftermarket intake gasket? 3. Is a thermostat hosing gasket maker really needed to be applied if using a new gasket?
Just to comment , this pipe also fits on a 2 litre 1TRFE engine fitted in some japanese vans . Fits completelly , size of the hoses , and the mouting holes , everything .
Great video! One question: what year was your Tacoma? I bought the pipe from Toyota dealer, part# 16268-75131, for my 2007 2.7L A/T base 2 dr. model, but it won't fit. Ty.
Mine just broke , replaced it in 30 min.Cut the pipe and splice a piece of radiator hose in the middle of the hard pipe and fished it thru. Disassembled nothing. Was a PIA but fast. Great video though.
@@jamesrooney7689 , it's easier if you take the intake off but otherwise not too difficult just a few bolts definitely recommend replacing all the gaskets though and if you have the money even the new bolts cuz they get tempered and get brittle over time otherwise all should be good and it's pretty straightforward only a few bolts holding it into place
FYI the bolts holding the flange need washers under them or they will bottom out before the new pipe is tight enough. the metal is thinner than plastic one
I’m In the middle of the doing this right now, just wonder what happens if I have the gasket on backwards? I just wasn’t able to get a new intake gasket and will be getting it back together this upcoming weekend. Would I be able to re use it if I just flip it over? Just sucks I’ll have to drain the rad fluid again.
I just did this job. The thermostat gasket inner diameter is the same as the hole. I don’t think it matters which way you put it because both faces are flat. I don’t have any leaks.
Just got a quote of $895 to get the heater core bypass changed. Thanks for this video, now I have the courage to do it myself.

Love how careful and organized you are. Watched other videos on heater tube replacement. Most are pretty sloppy. Great job

Hi ! Thanks for the video. Does Tacoma ( 2010) have heater control valves ? If it had where location. THANK
I just did mine today. How long does the heater cor in the dash last with good up keep.
Thanks great video.
Was anyome able to replace the bypass pipe from underneath going through the wheel well after removing the starter ?

That's a good idea I like that going through the same thing right now

What years had that part in plastic?
Mine is a 2013 and I believe it's metal not plastic.

The manifold didn’t need to come out
You can reach the pipe if you lay down
