"2 more films"....hmmm so Peter knew at this stage that the studio wanted to make the third film. I got a different impression from watching the extras on the blu-ray!
9:09 XD no one's commenting on this? Legolas: "I popped my cherry on the fake horse today...so she's behind me and we're both moving in rhythm... and it's like- *laughs* "
Thank you, Mr. Jackson, for taking the time to put up these blogs. Everyone knows you are working very hard, and it is great that you are putting in this time to show your fans what goes on behind the scenes of your movies. Thank you!
+RickyCollier-Waiomio Yeah, how do they keep straight faces? Arwen too, in her riding-from-the-Nazgul scene, but she at least was moving I think, or on some sort of moving thing... I mean it's pretty much just a more realistic and larger rocking horse that they're sitting on and moving and having to rock back and forth, and they manage to look serious.
The Dwarf workout was just great and that an Orc was with them makes it even funnier x'D Also these Production Videos make the movies even more amazing, because you can see the whole work putting into them, mind-blowing! It really feels like beeing a part of it ~♥
Oh my this video blog is brilliant! They must've been so happy when they all came back for pick-ups and that dwarf training video was hilarious! Oh my! Tauriel and Legolas riding on that horse lol! She looked so oblivious! Luke Evans is brilliant, even Bard's kid is funny since he only went and grew taller! Love all the cast! Lake town is so beautiful, it may end up being my new fave Middle-Earth place! Cannot wait for this one! It's gonna be soo amazing!
Watching these blogs and see how everything is made, and how the actors are working really keep me motivated to pursue my dream ^^ It's just amazing to see these people work! Thank you for these blogs Mr. Jackson! :)
5:20 is proof that this is a landmark, a historical film that should be taken seriously. Obviously. I'm gonna cry these guys are just so hilarious and perfect.
I saw it yesterday! It was so good! Love the moment between Legolas and Glóin!! Thank you so much Peter. Your movies are incredible. Can't wait for the third movie!! :D
This is so amazing! I didnt watch these when i first watched the trilogy! Such a blessing that Peter Jackson uploaded these blogs! I rewatched the trilogy again and i still want to see more of the world building and the actors from the movies!
You guys do the best Production Diaries!! :D I must say I'm very excited for the Extended Edition of An Unexpected Journey that just got announced. Over 8 hours of special features, I'm there!
Peter Jackson you are my inspiration. I dream to be in the movie industry myself one day. And to me, at times it seems far stretched. But looking at what you have achieved over your life helps me strive in achieving my dream. Thank you!
I just don't understand why people complain about CGI all the time,I believe that PJ knows the best,I mean,he did what nobody did before. Please stop complaining about CGI,what do You want, real dragon,or real troll?? Of course,he could make Goblins and Orcs without CGI,but he did really awesome work on CGI,especially Azog. What bother people is only word CGI,nothing more.Stop thinking about what is behind the movie, and enjoy IN the movie. People like that can only dream to be like Peter Jackson.
Thank you so much mr. Jackson for taking the time to make the Lord of the Rings movies and the Hobbit. I am really grateful and I belive this took a LOT of time and I just wanted to say how grateful I am and thank you for bringing the books alive. :)
Peter Jackson is my favorite director... he demands absolute top notch professionalism, and 'the all' from himself and his crew... he's a great leader, and it's the reason he makes such great films.
I just wanted to say thank you so much for providing us as fans and filmmakers with an avenue into your wold. While finishing my thesis film for college (which is fantasy and CGI heavy) these blogs have been a true inspiration. Every morning while editing we run your blogs over a monitor from beginning to end, cup of tea in hand. Here's to hopefully one day receiving the opportunity to make a film of this scale. Cheers from NYC!
Some of what they were shooting was what i thought was gonna be in Desolation Of Smaug but you can see they belong in There And Back Again. Like Gandalf in Dale. & at 2:55 Gandalf is with Thrain escaping Dol Guldor. I'm so excited for December!!
I understand where people are coming from when they say everything is different from how they made the Lord of the Rings, etc. But you need to understand, this movie deal was given to him last minute. No plans, no ideas. But for a talented man who got many awards for the 3 movies, who he said 'winged' all of this, it was very good. I am a HUGE LOTR and The Hobbit fan and I'd say the story lined up well. It showed the adventure of Bilbo, the old story or Legolas, and the Dwarves. All of it. Yes, the film was a bit different, but when creating which should have come before LOTR, it was very good and I don't think any other director would give it the feelings it gave me.
Peter Jackson! Please answer my question. Me and my wife have a debate as to why Legolas is such a different character in The Hobbit: The desolation of Smaug than he is in LOTR. I say you are portraying the woodland elves as Tolkien originally portrayed them and Orlando was just giving the character a more woodland feel and there are things that change his personality in 60 or so years. My wife says that you shouldn't have changed the way he looks and he should have been the same lovable Legolas because he wasn't actually in The Hobbit... So please, could you help me out and share your views???
Of course it won't. Tolkien wrote the Hobbit in the 1930s (published in '37) as a children's book. This was before he developed LoTR or indeed most of Middle Earth in greater detail. He had done early work on the Silmarillion but a lot was still undefined. Peter Jackson and the others are trying to enhance the epic factor by dragging things out, exploring areas Tolkien didn't show in detail and just plain making stuff up. The Hobbit films are good but they'll never be as good as LoTR.
Estimated Production cost $580 million for all 3 movies. Hobbit 1 made $1,017,003,568 billion in revenue at the Box office , not including merchandise, toys, games, DVD's etc etc. Estimated total Box office revenue $3 Billion +, maybe another Billion for every other merchandise, toys, games, DVD's etc etc. Peter Jackson is just Printing Money with this. Wouldn't it be nice to have a Royalty of 1-2% going into one's tiny wallet.
These Movies move so quick, if you blink, you've just missed vital parts of it. I really need to see these movies multiple times to begin to in enjoy the eye candy. Looking forward to the 12 disk + box set in 2015, so that i can rewind and replay the visual and sound candies that this Trilogy will provide. Roll on 2015.
Tolkien's stories are mostly based on the Norse mythology, on those times the diversity was lower than it is today, most white people resided in Europe, black people in Africa, LatinAmericans in America and Asians in Asia. Today is different today there's more diversity, so yeah. Just deal with that.
I loved Hobbit one and two, but then it just got too dark themed, aggressive with really disgusting looking enemies that it wasn’t mystical and fun anymore for me. But you still excelled at putting the story on film.
can someone give a link to a playlist with all ''the desolation of smaug videos''? cant find them on youtube :( would be really happy if someone did :)
I did read an article saying PJ wanted a female hero character since this story was almost to all male characters, the lord of the rings had Arwen and Eowyn, but nothing on this one.
The dwarf training part had me laughing so hard XD
Elle van Veelen and peter claimed they didnt have time for comic con

Her face when she was on that fake horse behind him was hysterical 😂
"Please don't grow anymore"
"I can't promise that!"
Thank you, Mr. Jackson, for taking the time to put up these blogs. Everyone knows you are working very hard, and it is great that you are putting in this time to show your fans what goes on behind the scenes of your movies. Thank you!

@@2b-coeur She was on a partial mechanical horse on the back of a pickup truck. So the truck was driving while she pretended to ride.
I'm so glad Peter takes the time to create these for the fans. I love seeing all this behind the scenes stuff!
The Dwarf workout was just great and that an Orc was with them makes it even funnier x'D
Also these Production Videos make the movies even more amazing, because you can see the whole work putting into them, mind-blowing! It really feels like beeing a part of it ~♥

Hugs to Peter and all the team.
Myself and the family can't wait.
Keep up the great work
Peter is a great man
And she is behind me. Hahahahah. Orlando goes hard
This great with seeing Evangeline Lilly (Tauriel), and Orlando Bloom (Legolas) on horse or with Ian Mckellen (Gandalf) and Martin Freeman (Bilbo).
John Bell!! That’s crazy. I know him best from Outlander, and when they showed him in this video I barely recognized him!
9:43 “Bard Marley, of Laketown” genius
Some of what they were shooting was what i thought was gonna be in Desolation Of Smaug but you can see they belong in There And Back Again. Like Gandalf in Dale. & at 2:55 Gandalf is with Thrain escaping Dol Guldor. I'm so excited for December!!
It's interesting how you don't see Richard Armitage on the blogs much.
Don't grow any more, this is ridiculous, ridiculous! LOL~~

2:13 that looks like preparing a Kill + Tauriel scene
first I didn't recognize graham mctavish (in the beginning of this series) and now i only recognized young ian (john bell) by his voice 😅

Wait, I dont get it. They are doing "pick ups".. after the movie came out? Or is this still before it came out? We saw premiere last episode.

MmmMmmmmm Extras Casting Director Victoria Beynon how you doin'?
