As an Armenian I find it really nice that the oud isn’t just played by Armenians, but also Turks, Arabs, Georgians, etc. It is safe to call this instrument a delicacy to the Middle Eastern cultures
Dear Armenian brother, the oud is not a Turkic or European instrument. It is a semitic instrument now widely played by Arabs. Instruments that are distinctively Turkic are the dombra, kopuz and baglama (baglama just partially, it is the direct descendant of the Turkic kopuz and also forms a synthesis with Greek/pre-Anatolian instruments). Turkic people started putting metal strings on a kopuz and increased the length of the fretboard. Also, ALL bowed instruments (violin, kemencheh, etc) are a descendant of the bowed kopuz. The kopuz is proven to be the father of all bowed instruments and of the long-necked lutes (not the short-necked lutes). The long-necked lutes existed in Central Asia (Turkic and Mongolic people) 1000 years before the short-necked lutes. After the semitics made contact with the Central Asian nomads, they created an instrument based on their instrument, which gave rise to the oud. Guitar is a descendant of the guitarra morisca, which comes from the oud. So the ultimate ascendant of all stringed (and bowed) instruments are the Central Asian instruments (Turkic and Mongolic people)
Hi Venerable friend.Your enigmatic and deseo música reflects the spirit of the ancient Mesopotamy. The sacred and secreto comunión between a man and Todo.
Merhaba abi, cok guzel muzik ! the only thing I don't like , I have noticed on many ouds the bottom bass string buzzzZZZZ , never a clean bass note. Is this how people like it, is it designed that way? In the west on guitars we never like the strings buzzing out (rattle)
All Turkish ouds are like this. The Turkish variant of ouds differ in sound, size and shape. The Turkish oud sound is finer and more elegant. The notes in Turkish classical music are neither Arabic nor Greek notes. They are Ottoman makams; Central Asian Turkic makams with or without Byzantine or Arab influence. (depends on the makam).
