as someone who plays both bow and dual blades, I would absolutely cry if I got that charm. I keep getting quick draw charms even though I don't even care for the long sword... still no wex 2 either. Anyway, thanks for the video, this was actually really informative, especially about the aerial aim and herculean draw! I've already mostly only been using aerial aim for when I run out of stamina when the monster is downed or need to dodge an attack that needs verticality to dodge (beam type attacks like Rajang's lightning or Somnacanth's sleep breath), but I haven't been using herculean draw at all. I guess I should start using it, and I didn't know the cool down was that short!
I’ve gotta say your guides are expertly put together, getting straight to the point while educating effectively. I’ve gotten better with this weapon just from watching the first guide. I’m hoping the update brings us some awesome shit for bow. I’d love if we could make a mighty bow decoration, just make it a level 3 or something.
i really thought that Aerial aim would do more damage in the time than just dash dancing that surprised me. Also the tipp with the herculean draw to reposiiton at low stamina is sick, I usually only used it like once before the fight started
AA is slow and puts you in strange positions for optimal use. They should have added a barrage-like skill and more skills that let people shoot from strategic vantage points. But it needs to allow for mobility.
Been maining bow for a few years now, and you've gotta be the one content creator for the weapon that has actually taught me so much more about the stick and string. I appreciate your effort to explain these new implementations to the weapon. Look forward to seeing more and your so lucky to have that talisman. I knew it existed! Cheers Tidus.
Awesome guide! Though I wish the Aerial Aim aspect was discussed a little more from a DPS perspective, since its DPS use is to be viewed differently as you said yourself. Aerial Aim isn't a really a move suitable to use when you have the stamina available to dodge cancel. It's a move that in my opinion you should be using when you are out of stamina, because once you're out of stamina and use aerial aim, it's still going to extend your combo despite having no stamina left, but you can't dodge cancel with no stamina. Therefore you can't really compare it to dodge cancel as its a finisher to use after the dodge cancel. The real question should be, is Aerial Aim's DPS high enough to warrant the delayed stamina recovery? Measuring that would answer the key question of whether Aerial Aim is useful for DPS.
Bow is honestly one of the best weapons for most people unless you know how to use the other weapons well. The mobility is very useful in staying alive.
So if i understand correctly, one should use focus early on into the game, but once you get some stamina skills you should swap it out for aerial and only use that for specific openings.
Awesome video! Love the herculean draw and explanation for the damage of the jump! Love these tutorials! Keep going!! Concerning combos, I see you dash dance->shot->powershot. Do you have an "average hunt" kind of combo? Not the speedrunning/very aggressive type with a WEX2/Con2 talisman, but more a kind of "do this kind of combo to preserve your stamina and do damage and be able to dodge to stay safe" :) Maybe a commentary of an average hunt video clip of which combo you do and why you do them would be awesome! Like one where you are tired and things don't go perfectly. I am scared to use all my wirebugs all the time to be able to escape from a bad situation, so I think I'll use the herculean draw only if I have 3 wirebugs. Therefore slotting wirebug lvl1 at least to get the most of it.
Those clips are casual hunts lol. But yes I will make a combo video eventually. Also I’m waiting for the emulator to get a little more stable, and I will do like I did in world, where I stream and do casual hunts, while commenting on what I do and why. I hope that helps!
@@LyonOlivier69 Ok here is what I mean with the combos, where I question what should I do as a casual: 1. When do you use absolute power volley? At 4:50 you use it, but for the rest of the normal hunts footage, I do not see you use it that much (only at 1:36 ?). Is it because of the stamina cost? You said several time at 2:59- 3:30 that you are very aggressive, but it seems to only be dance->charge->powershot->repeat. 2. When you are ready to dodge, like at 0:30 and 0:39 you just wait to dodge. Should you hold ZR to start the charge as you were near max stamina to be at a higher charge level? (cuz step->shoot->power shot will only be lvl3 while maybe it cab be lvl4 right away by holding before dancing?) 3. What do you advice to do when your last shot that completely empty your stamina (and no wirebug available to aerial aim), stun the monster? Or stagger it? I can't seem to be able to dance and I just wonder what would be optimal in this case. 4. I feel your stamina never deplete. I think I need to train to delay each shot/power shot to the maximum. Is it because it has a regen tick in between somehow? How does it work? 5. at 2:21 is where I see the master: after the herculean charge, you dash shot, but no power shot, despite being safe from tobi's attack, you immediately repositioned yourself/dance instead of using the powershot. Would you recommend, if unsure about a monster's pattern to train to dance->shot->repeat instead of using the powershot?
@@Polopollo75 ok Im gonna try to answer your questions but there’s a lot so I might forget some things. 1- i use the second power shot when there is timing for it but not necessarily for time for 2 dash dance. It’s like a tempo. Basically I think like this: rapid power (rp from now on) is 1 time bloc. Rpp is 1.5 time bloc, and rp d rp would be 2 time blocs. Depending on the opening I will try to do the most appropriate punish. Dash dance is always better if you can fit it. In the clip I was saying that I was aggressive because I was punishing past the flinch recovery animation. Without Herculean draw cancel, there was a good chance that I would have gotten hit before I could dash. It’s called over committing. 2- this clip is a wasted opportunity. I was too far away, and just walking around. You wouldn’t see that in a speedrun. (...) next comment
@@Polopollo75 3- i always say, stamina management doesn’t start when you’re out of stamina. If you’re out of stam with no bugs, you messed up stam and bugs management. Nothing you can do really, just be aware next time. 4- again just stam management. Knowing when to dash or not, and use bugs 5- hmmm, i don’t think I would recommend it. It’s easy to get the bad habit of spamming dash rapids. While it might feel safe, I think it’s better to try and optimize your punishes, even if you get hit at first. That’s how you’ll learn fast
@@LyonOlivier69 Thanks for all the tips! I am learning a lot! Question about stamina management: In a non-speedrun, do you just have moments where you let it regen it full? Like do you just wait idle then? to better counter after? Also I love your comment about the rpp vs rp d rp about the dancing time units, I think I understand a lot better now!
Love the videos! Although I gotta say, to me AA is a move I use when a monster is charging or has an attack that's gonna hit me but still puts out damage. You can dash dance out, but when I fough bazel the AA made the bow so much more fun cause his bombs are annoying af. Instead of dashing to a place where there might be a bomb, I use AA and time it so I do damage and the bombs already exploded. Used it for teostra, tigrex, and others. The dact that you can change the rate of fall makes it super fun to use too.
At the end of the day, there are many different ways to approach each fights. If you find new ways to use AA that’s awesome, I’m glad you’re having fun!
