The silver and gold versions of the S symbol alongside the name itself was what inspired my name as a whole. Needless to say, I grew attached to the company to the point where I had to get some videocassettes. Never looked back!
The 2nd logo is the most infamous... you get the drill. Also, this is just my opinion, please don't get mad if I dislike a logo you like, or if I like a logo you dislike. First of, let's talk about the animation. The animation is "super-cheesy". You may think the animation is quite decent for a home entertainment company at the time, but to me, this is terrible even by today's standards! Don't get me wrong, I might like some cheesy logos, like the Warner Home Video logo from 1986, the Paramount Home Video logo from 1979/1980 and the Viacom V of Doom from 1976, but not when logos are super-cheesy like that! Even in the 1980s we have such great logos, like the Walt Disney logo from 1986, Paramount logo from 1986, even the HBO Feature Presentation intro from 1982 which, in my opinion, is one of the best television intros ever made! Next up, the design of the logo. The design of the "S" looks ugly as hell, but that's not the worst part about it. And the top it all off, the music. Oh my God, the music is sooo over-synthesized! Did you ever see a logo with so much synth like this one? I find this to be absolutely ridiculous, though I'm pretty sure you guys may find it very epic. I'm sure it does have its fans, but for me, this is the cheesiest home video logo of the 1980s. No, it's not the worst home video logo of all time, there are much worse ones out there, but this still enters the list of cheesy home video logos. And, like I said before, this is just my personal opinion, please do not get mad if I dislike a logo you like or if I like a logo you dislike.
If I do have my favourite logo from Simitar, then it would be, unfortunately, *none of them.* Most of the Simitar's logos are absolutely cheesy, especially the 2nd logo, because of the "super" cheesy animation and the music that they use for the 2nd to the final logo is *sooo over-synthesized!* Seriously! I've never seen a logo with sooo much synth in the music! Some of you guys may find the music very epic, but to me, the music is very bombastic and _ridiculous!_ I might like cheesy logos like Paramount Home Video and Warner Home Video, but not when logos are super cheesy like that! The 3rd logo may have some good CGI, but you could see the bars at the corners of the screen before the logo animates (depending of your television's aspect ratio), and the "over-synthesized" music is still present. The 4th logo... oh my God, this is an absolutely cheap way to end a company! Seriously, this logo is absolutely dated for a DVD logo from the late 1990's! *Notice:* It's just my opinion.
Cool logos, too bad their video tapes were infamous for their tracking issues, most were recorded in EP mode which led to them having trouble playing in many VCRs to the point where people thought they were broken.
Simitar Entertainment was torpedoed by a lawsuit filed by Titan Sports (former owner of WWF, now known as WWE); they sued them over a 1999 knock-off compilation entitled Slammin' Wrestling Hits, which contained covers of WWF entrance themes produced without their consent. Simitar lost the case, and the resulting debts forced them into bankruptcy, ultimately shutting down in 2000. Their film library ended up being sold to Brentwood Communications (later BCI Eclipse).
