@CzarKing23which explains the massive difficulty spike between victory road and the first challenge of the Elite 4. Having a fully competitively viable elite 4 is awesome but a lot of teambuilding is locked beyond becoming champion and so you basically have to rely on friendship hacks to get your playthrough team across the finish line.

Having less pokemon is great. You can't pick the pokemon you want so having a lower level metagame is great and free to play friendly. This rethoric get instantly destroyed when you consider they added inci and a lot of the strongest meta. What are they doing??😢

Well when the fans make Pokemon showdown work on my mobile phone like they're planning on making this game in June do then I'll side with you on that mentality. 😂 The reason why this game is so basic for the switch is because it isn't supposed to be a switch game it's supposed to be a mobile game.😮 Competitive Pokemon on my mobile phone is something I've been waiting for for the last decade of my life. And I think that's the primary thing that you people are missing out on when it comes to figuring that out is there just testing this game on the switch it's majorly supposed to be the first competitive Pokemon game on the Play store. Which if it looks this good it's going to be one of the best games on the Play store by far.

@PixelShiftss you still require a Nintendo subscription for online play even if you don't require a subscription for champions specifically. you also need to use Pokémon home to transfer Pokémon into the game, and without a subscription to that, you're limited to 30 storage slots.
so the game is only sort of free to play.
Pokémon Champions as it stands now is basically a fancy ad for Pokémon Showdown.

@reenverseme9358 Champions is VGC the game. I play competitive Pokemon for the competitive part, wild idea I know. F2P gacha games usually aren't very friendly to competitive play, and it shouldn't surprise anyone Champions isn't either.

So the faster mon gets priority on conflicting field effects. So far the slower mon would always use its ability second, but either the developers for Champions didn't know, or this was an international competitive choice by gamefreak for handling mutually exclusive abilities entering at the same time. Giving the faster pokemon priority does make sense from a balancing perspective when you generally want to reward speed as a stat, but it does go against historic precedent.

I’m hugely disappointed by the fact that the only mechanic is Mega. The reveal showed a mega and a tera on the field at the same time. I was genuinely interested in seeing different mechanics clash but this starting point is the bare minimum

I stopped playing pokemon almost 2y ago. And I did so because gen 9 just left me with such bad taste in my mouth after playing pokemon since 1999.
And created content since 2011.
I will share every memory with draft league and matches I had with you Hayden and every poketuber that is and has been around.
But these compromise pokemon insist on making in their games.
There are so much possibilities with these games and they just funk the product every time.

There is no excuse for not having 6v6 in private battles but yall are insane if you thought it was getting a dedicated queue, the animations are the same runaround weve been getting for like a decade now, and it would have been easier to just move everything over and call it a day so it seems that the limited selection is a deliberate choice to help new players easily learn how these interactions work since all the items in the game are very simple in effect tho they definitely could've included a few more pokemon

As someone who only cares about VGC, its honestly baffling that 6v6 singles is not in the game. I actually think Pokemon Co is braindead for some of the decisions they have made… Literally all they had to do was copy Pokemon Showdown, make a couple of unique changes and slap a pretty coat of paint on it and they would have built a money printer. It legitimately seems like this game was the most free layup of all time and they completely faceplanted onto broken glass😂

Step 1: Just copy Showdown
Step 2: Monetize shiny Pokemon
Step 3: Make millions
That's literally what Konami did with Master Duel, when popular fan made Yu-Gi-Oh sims were already running around at that time.
People still flocked to the game and it's still successful to this day.

The hard push for VGC compared to singles has always confused the hell out of me considering that the vast majority of the battles in every mainline Pokémon game are single battles.
I mean it makes since, doubles is a lot less chaotic than singles due to stall not being as good, only having 4 pokemom instead of 6, and a lot of great mpves in singles become less powerful in exchange for hitting all targets.
Youd think pokemon would put more emphasis on doubles in the mainline games. To be fair they did start with the blueberry academy focusing on double battles, but they need to put more of that stuff into the game without dlc

This should have been a mode attached to all new Pokemon games that they updated over time, it shouldn't be a stand alone client. Not unless they want to attach a game to it. (Dungeon crawling, etc. Which would also cannibalize mainline games. They can't compete against themselves.)

However, it’s dishonest to argue it can’t have more than 200 Pokémon. It literally will. This is not the battle we need to be fighting. The lack of items, animation quality, 6v6 singles, etc. is more important.

It's the Western singles format. Apparently in Japan they do 3v3 singles.

@vez3834it's not about competitive. Champions literally will be the new online mode, gen 10 will not even have an online mode because champions exist. so there should be a 6v6 mode for casuals when doing private matches.

Well when you realize this game will be put on mobile it does. For a game 2 work on the switch and everybody's phone it's going to have to be a little bit simple. Points are so easy to grind in this game don't worry about it. I spent my first 20,000 points on just getting my character to look good. And now I already have over a 100k points from just grinding rank. You have to be truly lazy to spend money in this game, stupid possibly, or rich with no cares. 🙌

This game is also coming to Mobile in June so you have to realize it's going to have to be oversimplified for that to even work and make sense. 😂 This game is already 1.8 gigabytes and it only has 180 Pokemon a couple megas and less than 60 items. If they were to smack everything into this game all at once it would be close to about a 6 to 7 gigabyte game and it would definitely freak people out on mobile. Nintendo has been working on a game to be released to the Play store and the Apple store for over a decade and this is what we're getting it's just been released on switch so they can work off the hardware on the software.

Oh man, I LOVED Pokemon Stadium 2. Not only the battles, but the mini-games that would use your own POkemon. And then slightly recolor them depending on their nicknames.
