Swapping my worn out 5.3 for a slightly less worn out 5.3 in my 02 Sierra. This is a nice break but I guess I can't get away from them lol. Great content as always, man.
That switch is better than factoru b/c you can leave it on all the time if you want. Factory you have to turn them on all the time you restart the truck. I'd run some silicone on the back of those fog light LED wires where they run through the cooling fins. With your truck it may not be a problem, but in my 06 Yukon when I'd go off road and drive through some streams and shallow lakes the intensive water splashing would leak through the grommet and into the fog light. Silicone solved my problems.
I just got my fog lights I just need to buy a harness I wish I knew how to cut the wires and connect them back like like you do you make it look so simple lol nice video tho
I did this to my 06 Silverado WT model (5.3 though 😈). I used the factory switch and bought an eBay harness that plugs to the fuse box, it came with the correct relay too. Works good no need to BCM flash works like factory.
A dude on ebay sells the correct harness for 45 that goes to the stock fuse block and change the stock switch to the correct stock switch, plug in relay and done, this is a clean install though. IT DOES NOT REQUIRE DOING A BCM FLASH. I just did the entire job with stock parts minus the ebay harness for 126$ total.
I just tapped in the parking lights so now everytime my parking lights are on my fog lights are on, took me like 5 mins little ghetto way but it works for me since I like to always have them on.
I have similar setup however like you I don't' want to run down my battery. I'm having trouble finding a hot (only when key is on) spot. I have a 2011 Silverado. Also my relay is bolted to the frame, yours was I assume plastic. Doesn't it need to be grounded? Gary
