I have the same issue that some did (I followed everything but then on reboot it's now stuck on a black screen now after everything appears to have loaded up). Not sure if I need to resort to re-installing ESXi 6.7 and I need to get it fixed so I can recover data for my client. Any advice would be much appreciated Thanks!
Hi there, I’m having an issue and its that when i extract the state.tgz file i get local.tgz.ve file and that i cant extract. Do you know why is that so, is it due to encryption and if so what would be the solution?
Can you tell me how you fixed this? I have the same issue (stuck on a black screen now) and it's quite urgent that I get it fixed so I can recover data for my client. Thanks!@@Pretendor
Great Video however, My VCenter Server failed and the previous tech did not leave me with the root passwords so I have no way of restarting other than a hard shutdown after I power down the Windows server VMs via RDP. Correct?
When I installed the Ubuntu from CD drive, it ask me to try or install Ubuntu in the same choice so, when I choose that choice it installed the Ubuntu not try it
man i dont know well cisco server but how difficult can it be??? ,look at this guide www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/unified_computing/usNIC/videos/C-Series/boot_order.html
@@Itsabouteverything9 Thank you bro, I will try, when I selected the boot menu I just find : UEFI OS - UEFI : PXE IP4 intel (R) Ethernet controller x550. - UEFI : PXE IP4 intel i350 gigbit network connection - UEFI / Built-in EFIshell - Enter setup
Great method. This also works with Ubuntu Gnome or any other linux os that lets you try the os before installing. Helped me in a pinch! thank you
Excellent, I was able to recover. Just one note, when entering :wq make sure to hit Shift and : otherwise : will not show up.
Is the vm data safe in this method? Please?

Yeap, getting the same on ESXi 7..any solution for this?
hello, i also have the same problem. did you find a solution for "local.tgz.ve"?
thanks
Same issue for me as well, get local.tgz.ve and not able to extract that
Starting from version 7 local.tgz is encrypted.
You can't decrypt it on a machine with a lost password
Thank ya kindly.
Will the data be safe after resetting root password?
Useful video.Thanks again
After i have done this steps. i see that VMware is starting up however after the final step i will get a black screen and nothing seems to happen.
I am having the same issue. Have you found any fix for this yet?
