  • Today I'm telling the story of the 1857 Sepoy Mutiny in India at the Mutiny Monument in North Delhi. Even though India wasn't considered a nation at the time, this is still considered the first Independence War in India.
I finish the video at Coronation Park. This was the location of the Delhi Durbars. Basically, these were huge celebrations in India to celebrate the coronation of the Queen or King in England.

There was a mutiny in the Indian navy after WW2 which spread to the the Army and Air Force which was fueled by Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and his Indian National Army (INA) who recruited many Indian POWS captured by the Japanese in Singapore. Subhas Chandra Bose's INA and the Japanese launched a simultaneous attack against the British in Imphal and Kohima in the North East of India. The British listed the battle of Imphal and Kohima as their toughest battle in the British Museum. After Indian independence When British Prime Minister Clement Atlee visited India he was asked why the British left and he stated Subhas Chandra Bose and the Navy's mutiny as the primary reasons why they were compelled to leave.

If you're tired of the historical places, I'd suggest taking a metro to Cyber Hub to have beer at the brewries.
Also, Jantar Mantar, Lotus Temple, Akshardham Temple, Humayun's Tomb could be on the list.
Also, Dilli Haat (INA Metro station) is an open flea market showcasing food and handicrafts from all different states. It's like a glimpse to the diversity since you won't be able to cover all states.
You could also head to Majnu Ka Tila. It's a Tibetan Refugee settlement with lots of cafes, usually a hub for college students.

The term "Maleu-Kolon" was used in Geographia by Ptolemy which is believed to have originated from the Tamil term malayakolam or malaikurram, referring to a geographical part of peninsula.
An inscription on the south wall of the 11th century Brihadeeswarar Temple also made a reference to Malaiyur, a kingdom that had "a strong mountain for its rampart" during the Chola invasion of Srivijaya period. This referred to Chola invaders during Rajendra Chola I's campaign.
The concept of "Indianized kingdoms" and "Indianization", coined by George Coedès, originally describes Southeast Asian principalities that flourished from the early common era as a result of centuries of socio-economic interaction having incorporated central aspects of Indian institutions, religion, statecraft, administration, culture, epigraphy, literature and architecture.

i think the early days of british colonialisation of north america also utilised this sort of privatized corporations...kinda like chartered companies in Virginia, and the Carolinas - to own land, open up tobacco farms, bring in slaves, etc etc. So its basically outsourcing, to speed up things (likely reason)

The name Indonesia derives from the Greek words Indos (Ἰνδός) and nesos (νῆσος), meaning "Indian islands".[12] The name dates back to the 19th century, far predating the formation of independent Indonesia. In 1850, George Windsor Earl, an English ethnologist, proposed the terms Indunesians-and, his preference, Malayunesians-for the inhabitants of the "Indian Archipelago or Malay Archipelago".[13][14] In the same publication, one of his students, James Richardson Logan, used Indonesia as a synonym for Indian Archipelago.

during their rule in India, British engineered famines one after the other as they thought Indians would not be able to fight for their Independence in those situations. dying in famine is the worst form of death where one wants to die quickly but one dies little by little. here are numbers of the deaths in some major artificial famines caused by the British in India-

    Upper Doab Famine, 1860 -1861: 2 Million
    Orissa Famine, 1866: 1 Million+
    Rajputana Famine, 1868 - 1870: 1.5 Million Deaths
    Bihar Famine, 1873 - 1874: 5.5 Million
    Ganjam/Orissa/Bihar Famines, 1888 - 1889: 100,000 +
    Indian Famine, 1896 - 1897: Millions

it was planned by British to split India. after first war of independence in 1857 where all community of Indian faught against the British together British started divide and rule in India between people. very strategically split India before going. present day Pakistan was the route by which India is to trade with Arab countries for thousands of years. present day Bangladesh was the route through which India East used to trade with South Asian countries for thousands of years. both were gone so now India has become like an Island where all trade being done by sea not land. also before going Brits had their puppet governments in charge of both countries India and Pakistan so that there is always fight with between the two countries and they Never grow.

up to 200 million people died in British induced famines over the years in India. there was an untold holocaust which caused the deaths of almost 10 million people over 10 years beginning in 1857, after the first independence movement of India. at least 100k people were killed in Delhi. total population including small children of many small towns and villages which took part in the movement were eliminated. many forests were completely burnt including tribal people inside it. unfortunately Brits were the ones who have written Indian history. so these things are very much hidden.

I'm sorry Nick but you're doing the same ol' stuff that every Western youtuber does when he comes to India. Why haven't you discussed the civilizational ties between India and Indonesia and why Indonesia is named after India. It's literally in it's name Indo. And how Indonesia's motto Bhinneka Tunggal Ikka translated as Unity in Diversity is derived from Sanskrit which is also India's motto.Or the fact that Sukarno was rescued by India from the Dutch in Indonesia. Garuda is a very important symbol both in India and Indonesia. There is so much overlap between India and Indonesia. There's a huge Garuda park in Kerala.
