Just amazing how Toronto food establishments serve foods that must arrive by air. What is "local" in Toronto terms? I recall a Canadian visit long, long ago where I shopped in a New Brunswick store and the produce was from thousands of miles away. I come from agricultural country. Most that we eat is from very near.
Turkish doner is equivalent to Greek gyros and shawarma in other Mediterranean restaurants. I had doner just one time but gyros and shawarma much more frequently. Oh, and Persian restaurants might have their own kind. Nope. The one Persian cafe has "gyros" on the menu. So it is doner, gyros, and shawarma. Any name, I'm a fan.
