The forester Artium is among those who shout “Lord lord” but when crisis comes-darkness and storm and someone is distress-they lie down and tremble. Let the listener reflect whether he or she would have gone out into that storm under those conditions.
There is really a kind of New Testament parable tone to this story, isn’t there?

A story that lifts the mask that hides most of our real countenance.

At the risk of appearing disrespectful- which I don’t mind taking - this and so many other recordings I have begun to hear leave much to be desired. Aside from the accent of the reader - which reflects a leaning away from the standard English I have largely ceased to hear - certain words are mispronounced or are not contextually integrated. Pace and rhythm are monotonous. And I must reiterate that the accent is so obnoxious to my ears that I can’t bear listening to it. What on earth has happened to voice and diction as rendered by British speakers and is being passed off as adequately acceptable?
Call me a snob, if you like. Yet, in some misguided attempt to democratize diction, a whole nation seem to have relinquished the mellifluous majesty of the human voice. And what you may have gained in social justice - which is controversial to me - you’ve lost in artistic integrity.

      WORD CONTROL IS MIND CONTROL
All words, alphabet letters, numbers, symbols and images are man-made, not natural. They all are illusions, not real. Magic is illusion, and words are magical spell-making used for mind-control of the masses. The English language is no exception, including the "good Queen's English", the KJV English, the Noah Webster's American English, hidden coded English and subsequent developments of all types of English. Many non-English words have been added to the British English Oxford Dictionary since the 1600's.
EDIT: The human voice is produced by the so-called voice box, the upper part of the trachea. Human voice boxes vary with hereditary genetic differences. Human, natural languages are invented technologies that vary across cultures. The proper pronunciation, pacing, rhythm, diction, grammar, syntax and sentence structure of languages vary widely.
Anton Pavlovich Chekhov (Russian: Антон Павлович Чехов[a], IPA: [ɐnˈton ˈpavləvʲɪtɕ ˈtɕexəf]; 29 January 1860 - 15 July 1904) was a Russian playwright and short-story writer. Chekhov wrote his stories in the Russian language, not the English language. The English translations cannot grasp the full intonations, nuances and subtleties of the original Russian language. If someone wants "purity" in the spoken version of Chekhov's written words, he can learn the Russian language. So much for mellifluous majesty and artistic integrity. Peace.

I agree that it can get monotonous
