She said "They wasn't saying sauce" back in the 90s. Look up a rapper named Sauce Money. I like how pops schooled her on Buttafly from Diggable Planets.
I remember when we used to say a nice car was “wet” back in ‘97🤣. Ain’t nothing new under the sun. Camp Lo is mad underrated. Their wordplay was too slick and ahead of their time for that era. Digable Planets truly had an unorthodox pen game for sure to be so young, they opened up a lot of doors for artists with their free associative, non-linear rhyme style and word schemes and still made it sound dope.
I was bumpin' this joint the other day when I rolled up to the liquor store. I was born in California, but raised on East Coast hip hop. This is forever a classic!!
"It kinda sounds like something new" It does. If you listen to any Camp Lo album, you'll see that they were always ahead of their time. Even though they were respected when they first dropped, they never got the acclaim that they should have because their flow, vibe, everything about them was too far ahead of what rap was at the time. Almost every song they have sounds like it could have been dropped today or yesterday, but that it just has an old school vibe to it.
No their flow was not ahead of their time their flow was right on time and in line with the high level of skill New York Rap was about in that era. Today's rap music is complete GARBAGE!
OMG !!! So good nostalgia !!! Camp Lo - Luchini , this track is so liiiiiiiiit !! In the MTV's show "Yo" this video clip was here and in on of my old VHS !!
Great react, I loved Camp Lo’s laid back style. I remember meeting them live at this little spot at Waterside in Norfolk Va before they blew up. They were humble as could be, they went around talking to everyone at the club that night. Them and another young lady rapper before she blew up, by the name of Missy Elliott🤣maybe y’all could hit up an old Missy throwback, her and Timbaland had some fire Collabs back in the day. 🎤🎤Sauce was used by a couple artist (OutKast and Diddy come to mind, late 90’s/early 2000)...there was even a rapper late 90’s that was name Sauce Money. Drippin’ she might have one there🤣 I only remember mid-2000 the Houston rappers talking about their paint jobs drippin’ on their big body cars(lil different meaning) The one that kills me is “CLOUT”....Rob Base & DJ Ez Rock used in late 80’s on It Takes Two🤣
Every and I mean every generation swears they just popped out of thin air or the cabbage patch. Human nature I guess. Nothing's new under the Sun is an understatement. Big up and long live!
The outro beat quick few bars are from another Camp Lo song...”Swing”...same album. “I play my card shark style kings and aces. Welcome to New York the illest of all places.” Great pick, Dad.
Lit was used as slang by black people since the 60's at least, it basically meant getting tipsy and having a good time. Sauce was used at least since the 90's, a rapper was named Sauce Money for a reason.
Slum village brought me here by a recommendation and Coast Contra brought me to Slum Village. This stuff is so refreshing. My first hip hop cassette was Whoudini "Escape"
Camp Lo has hot recent music. THIS IS NOT THE ONLY HOT SONG(Black Jesus- and more). Suade is one of illest mcs still. Camp Lo is one of the most under appreciated and talented group hip hop.
I bumped this album hardcore on Saturday nights in my Silver 84 Pontiac Grand Prix! They came out with a 20 year anniversary of this album couple years back it has remixes and unreleased tracks
Sauce was brought back by borderlands lol... People were saying it a little and then that became a rating for borderlands guns and people started saying weak sauce and awesome sauce... Then just sauce started showing up in rap songs.
Oh shit, I like this concept. Dad daughter reaction wooooo! I was in 6th grade walking to the tried n true records buying cassette singles to play I'm my walkman with low batteries lol
Will yi us ever do a part 2 of capital steez? Yous definitely missed the best songs on that first part. "Free the robots" "survival tactics" and "vibe ratings" much love and peace from the UK.
The most overlooked and underated group of all time besides digable planets
So much facts in one sentence!!
And Binary Starr
@@davadreviewer5509 Yo you know what’s up! Not many heads are familiar!

area lingo
Camp Lo is the shit. I remember Copping this album back in the day. Thanks 4 the memory with this classic.
She said "They wasn't saying sauce" back in the 90s. Look up a rapper named Sauce Money.

Pops got a hell of an ear! Respect from this Chi-town raised hip hop head (and fellow dad)✊🏾
"Ain't nothing new under the sun!!" That's real.
I was bumpin' this joint the other day when I rolled up to the liquor store. I was born in California, but raised on East Coast hip hop. This is forever a classic!!
Soon as that beat hit that nostalgia hit. Music just ain’t the same anymore some artists today actually be rapping but this had a whole spirit to it.
Camp lo black nostaglicks was one of the best hip hop videos ever.
They used to say saucy back in the 90’s, at least in the Bay we did. A lot of slang came outta the Bay we ain’t get credit for though💯
KRSwop1 word. We even said sauce here in the DMV (DC/MD/VA area)
I remember the reference " saucy " for meaning tipsy in the 80's & 90's
@@johnwick2974 In the bay, saucy means clean/fresh/fly/swagged out/etc. Pick your favorite word for looking good. 💯
"It kinda sounds like something new"

Black Moon - Buck ‘Em Down (remix)
OMG !!! So good nostalgia !!! Camp Lo - Luchini , this track is so liiiiiiiiit !! In the MTV's show "Yo" this video clip was here and in on of my old VHS !!
your dad NEEDS to listen to Isaiah Rashad 👀
Fr Isaiah rashad mad underrated, he probably wouldn't like his chill vibes tho
Jarmel Bennett Maybe, but with tracks like Wat’s Wrong, there’s no way he could dislike him
Wats wrong and Modest are 2 songs they both will like
Pops teaching u the right class n ima do the same wit my daughter 💯
Great music transcends thru generations!!!!

AZ and Nas with "Mo Money Mo Murder" I feel is a great encapsulation of the mid 90's era rap. You guys should review it if you ever get the chance.
