It seems that the self arises in the response to what's spontaneously happening. Spontaneous life happens and there's a belief related to being a doer and that's where the self seems to appear. Prior to that appearance arising there was no person doing anything no matter how specific and connected to the identity that behavior is.

One time I was reading some Chogyam Trungpa.
He said if you have a feeling you did not like that you should try to feel it as completely as possible. Dive in.
It turns out (for me) that the deep energy feeling of all feelings was exactly the same. Hmm. Michael.

Washing dishes is good :). Problem with a seeker is they cannot make sense of finding contentment in washing dishes but they might think 'Robert said I am good or unselfish for washing dishes so I can afford to feel good about myself' and not in the absence of such a thought.

When A friend called and asked me to watch this, the first thought was "Oh no, another assignment from Joe." , but I'm trying not to be a jerk so I clicked on it. The next thought was "Good grief, an hour and 40 minute video!", but in the effort to not be a jerk I started it. It's exhausting to listen to the intellectualization of spirituality, it's all stuff we already know! It might be important at certain points to be reminded but good grief some of us have been over thinking all this stuff for more than 50 years. Anyway the next thought was that this guy has a really weird haircut. In spite of that I watched it to the end and was pleasantly surprised. It always seems that realization and meditation is served with a giant dollop of bullshit. There always seems to be some crazy improbable cosmology or some other crap, along with weird expectations of what spiritual awakening will be like, when in reality it's completely ordinary. It seems that it's better if the bullshit is really strange because then it's easier to wake up one morning and just reject it all, but possibly keep the realization and just be yourself. This guy Saltzman seems to have minimized the bullshit. After subscribing to his RUclips channel it seemed that reading his book might be in order, but that might just be going to far! 🤠✌

Robert, no reason at all, you say at around 19.06. Reasoning is often an automatic response, or merely an interpretation that is a conditioned response through our personality. Personality makes or doesn’t make sense of action, Karma.
Reasoning is neutral until action happens. Making sense of the Ukraine/Russia conflict is impossible until you understand the violence within oneself. True understanding is love, a place where healing often flows, despite the actions all around us and within . A place of acceptance, suffering and sadness is still there floating on the island peace.

You can be aware of "the violence within yourself" and still not understand anything about the Ukraine/Russia war. You would have to know the history involved too, zendog, otherwise you are just speaking in generalities. Speaking in generalities does not lead to understanding the specifics of any situation. In fact, it obscures them.
In the same way, you assert that "all is spirit" as if that explains anything. It doesn't. Hanging a name on the incomprehensible is meaningless. I could say "all is energy" or "all is consciousness" or "life is nothing but a dream," and those declarations would not explain anything either.

Why is Awakening so difficult to experiece

I'm not a christian, but every time I hear you talk about us 'not being the doer', I think of the bible quote, "god works in you to will and to do". Putting aside all the religious interpretation nonsense, and if it is read in a metaphorical way - with 'god working' being a simile for 'intelligent life working' (or whatever the heck is behind all this malarkey), then I figure they were on to something.😉

We’ll Robert, I must say that I am quite drawn to what you say and maybe how you say.
However, you say Trump is a criminal and not self aware. All I can say is…”and you know this how?, Charlie “. He’s probably just pulling y’all’s chain.
But, who cares? I’m an old-74- fart now. My soft ware is updated but my hard ware is obsolete.
It (life) just continues. La vida continua.
    Your sometimes reluctant fan, Michael.

Do you really think that the riot on January 6th that Trump and his confederates planned and triggered, or the theft of government documents that Trump had no right to possess, or asking Georgia officials to just "find" more votes for him are just harmless jokes--just pulling people's chain? If so, that is what I call deluded. Or perhaps you actually approve of Trump's politics and behavior. If so, Michael, please say why.
