  • This is Part 7 of my trip continuing the journey, I leave Sweden with a brief encounter with a military convoy and into Norway. The border crossing must be the most beautiful I have ever crossed!
    The whole journey took me through the Netherlands, Germany, Denmark, Sweden and into Norway right the way up to Nordkapp, the furthest point you can travel by motorcycle or car in mainland Europe and then back through Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Germany, Belgium and France over a 7 week period late May - mid July 2023
    I am back in the UK now, but please do add your comments and I'll get back to you.
    Hoping you can "Like" the video, as this does help the channel.
    All my best wishes, thanks again for watching

    I'm loving this series just as I've enjoyed all of your previous series. You film and tell the story really well, and I like you showing the route of the day and the overall route. Thank you for the effort you put in to making them, I really do appreciate it.

    Hi Nick,
    I’ve had some great experiences with the Garmin Zumo XT on the ‘adventurous’ route setting. Nice thing about the majority of ferries in Scandinavia is they’re free. Although if I’ve got bored of them I have excluded them as a route option. Finding waterside wild camp sites is a bit of a dark art but once you’ve got the knack it can be very rewarding.
    Thanks for the vid, warren

    Finally into Norway! The weather continued to cooperate with you providing nice riding conditions. Getting off of the major highways and on to the secondary roads is what it’s all about (unless you have to get somewhere in a hurry). Looking forward to next week’s episode. Cheers Nick

      I’m setting off on my NC500 trip next weekend on my CB500X. I’m excited but what makes me anxious is finding places to wild camp, but hopefully all will be well. Another fantastic video. Norway looks stunning!

    • @robinwells8879
      @robinwells8879 10 месяцев назад

      @@wavecreatures technically, you have right to camp anywhere within Scotland within reason unless specifically prohibited.
      If you tread lightly and clear up after yourself in my experience you will have little trouble. Perhaps alternate with formal camping too. The Scottish have a long and proud tradition of great hospitality towards the traveller which I admire greatly.

    I think I got my BMW NAV V back in 2014 and used the winding road function at first only to find that it would direct me through subdivisions (I think in the UK you call them housing estates). I soon tired of that and ignore that function, I would have thought that advancements in artificial intelligence had improved the function over the years.

    • @bikingtravels
      @bikingtravels  10 месяцев назад

      It works well if you're away from towns but can definitely be a bit dubious as you approach one. Yes sub division probably equates to housing estates.

    Is that RST jacket water proof

    • @bikingtravels
      @bikingtravels  5 месяцев назад

      Thanks for the question. The textile outer layer tends to get water logged if not treated regularly but there is an internal waterproof membrane that keeps me dry underneath.

    I being inspired by your trips to buy also a cb500x and plan my own. Unfortunately, i crashed into a car 3 days after i bought it. Details not important, im not injured, the cost will be covert. But i need a simple 30 seconds favor. When i brake the from brake and move the bike front and back (not up and down) i feel a small gap in the steering. The mechanic says is normal behavior of the forks. I say to him that i din't feel it before the accident. Can you please break your bike and tell me if you feel any gap when you pushing the bike forward and back with your weight ? Is pronounced in my case if im on the bike. I think is the bearing but im not sure.

      Sorry to hear about your accident and I am glad that you are not injured. I'm travelling at the moment (not on a motorcycle) so cannot check for a couple of weeks. It does not sound right to me though, maybe post on one of the CB500X forums they are very active? I will try when I get home but as I say, it will be a couple of weeks

    why you didn't show the conversation you had with the military guy? what rights did he have to make you stop? is he a cop? I think you lack confidence my friend.

    • @bikingtravels
      @bikingtravels  4 месяца назад

      I tend to turn the camera off when talking with people as I know I don't like being filmed... odd but true. He was just surprised to see me on the small road and thought I might try and overtake the convoy. I would not have tried as there was no room to do so. Lack of confidence? Probably.
      Thanks for the comment.
