Current Philippines is great for rich locals but they are getting behind even to Vietnam. Cambodia and Laos will eventually pass Philippines because it doesn't want to develop using foreign capital using it's anti foreign investment policy. Outsiders need 2/3 local ownership to start a business and foreigners can't get loans from local banks. Rich Filipinos don't want to share their wealth with outsiders which means they are doing just fine without outsiders and want to maintain their wealth thus nothing changes in Philippines. Eg. Juan Dela Cruz was born in a rich family with 1,000,000 pesos worth of assets. On the other hand, Juana was born in a squatter area with only 1,000 pesos assets.
Juan created his own business and earned a total of 50,000,000 assets. While Juana gets a successful job and earns a total of 15,000 assets.
Juan becomes Reacher. Juana manages her life out of poverty 'zero' with a slightly decent job.

Current Philippines is great for rich locals but they are getting behind even to Vietnam. Cambodia and Laos will eventually pass Philippines because it doesn't want to develop using foreign capital using it's anti foreign investment policy. Outsiders need 2/3 local ownership to start a business and foreigners can't get loans from local banks. Rich Filipinos don't want to share their wealth with outsiders which means they are doing just fine without outsiders and want to maintain their wealth thus nothing changes in Philippines. It's one of worst investment country for outsiders.
It's already change.. The Philippines government implemented 100 percent full owner to those businesses
Maybe you didnt read the latest, but the phils has allowed 100% foreign ownership of their business. In fact elon musk starlink has invested 2bil already, european telecom firms are coming in soon too
That's outdated information. The new revisions to the Public Services Act made it so that foreign ownership of businesses in all sectors, except for a few that the government considers key to national sovereignty, can now be 100% foreign owned.
