  • I doubt that you would find anyone who havent heard about Stalingrad battle. It was one one the most important battles of WWII and maybe the most important. We, the mankind owe a great debt to soviet soldiers who crushed the fascist armies in Stalingrad.
This video was one of the most difficult to make, it lasted for three days before I finally finished.
I will be grateful for your comments and of course for your rating if you would like to. Thanks.

Thank you, you know, this video is not about communism, fascism or capitalism. Its simply about soviet people who defended their country. And in the end, its all about allied nations who stood together against nazi germany. Its about soviet, american and british (and other) soldiers, who shed blood, sweat and tears to bring down swastikas.

    Oh, you, Volga, wide Volga,
    Who doesn't love your shores?
You are like the sea, full,
    Wide and strong,
    And fearsome to our enemies.
    Above the great Russian river
    Stands an impregnable sentinel.
    This is the city-soldier,
    This is the city-hero,
    This is our battle-hardened Stalingrad!
The city holds the golden keys
    To coveted paths and roads,
    And in the decisive hour,
    It fought time and again,
And didn't let the enemy cross its threshold.
The fascist hordes sought to reach the Volga,
Our homeland was engulfed in fire,
But at the doors of the Volga,
    Defending the beasts,
    Stood the mighty hero, Stalingrad.
From its birth, the land had not seen
Such a siege, such a battle.
    The earth trembled,
    And the fields turned red,
Everything blazed above the River Volga.
Day after day, the people of Stalingrad fought
    In an unprecedented bloody struggle.
    In those fearsome days,
They defended both their Motherland and the Volga.
    And gathering their heroic strength,
    And spreading their chest wide,
    The Stalingrad hero
    Crushed countless enemies
At the shores of their native land.
Glory to the city, twice a hero,
Glory to the mother of all Russian rivers,
Glory to all the brave warriors,
    The fighters of Stalingrad,
Glory to the Motherland, glory forever!

I definitely know about Battle of Stalingrad, it is extremely highly regarded of in China, and Mao at that time believed that it would be the turning point of the whole war. The majority of academia in the West also acknowledged the fact.
Great gratitude towards Soviet soldiers who fought in the frontline of the Eastern Front. You have thrown the Third Reich and their anti-human belief, as well as the notion of Social Darwinism, into the dustbin of history. That is why Social Darwinism is widely recognized as politically incorrect today, throughout the world.

Not axis casualties, just German casualties, but you are right still about us owing thanks to the Soviets for helping to defeat the fascists. Though I would like to point out that Stalin was eager to be Hitler's friend and that the Soviets would not have helped against the fascists, and may have even supported the Fascists if Hitler had not been a lunatic and back stabbed Stalin with Operation Barbarossa.

Kyle Pettis I do not see why we have to owe them anything considering that the only nation they fought heavily was Nazi Germany. Also, Nazi Germany was not a threat to US defense on the scale that Japan was. Furthermore, we gave the Soviets supplies of trucks, aircraft, medical supplies and food aid as the price for fighting the Nazis. Considering we gave them that we do not owe them a thing. But I will concede that they fought splendidly while asserting that we owe them nothing.

I myself would easily be able to tell you, and prove to you that Hitler's political ways are equal to yours though. Just because he made something called National Socialism, it does not mean he was Socialist in any way.

The thing is that Pavlov's house wasnt important at all. It was just another apartmnet building in Stalingrad. But soldiers of Pavlov took it from germans and withstood every counte-rattack for almost a month. (not to mention that they inflicted heavy losses to germans). That building was also used as artirelly observation point.
But Pavlov's house became more of symbol soviet toughnes and dedication to fight to the end.

The allied help was/is really appreciated, but as I have said many times over, it covered just 10% of the soviet need (G. Roberts - Stalin's war,2009). The second front was fine, sure, it was a great morale boost, but despite this fact, Hitler still shifted his division to the east, no matter where they were place originaly. It's not entirely rumors, but it's important to note that a lot of deaths can be attributed to war, or the much-needed modernization of the Soviet Union. If not the massive bodycount caused by rapid industrialization, collectivization, redirection of resources, etc. The Soviet Union wouldn't have been able to hold back against the German onslaught.
I am not mentioning, however, issues such as exiling of the Poles, Greeks, Koreans, and other minorities.

    Dear Kalinin,
In case you do not have the full length Petrov (1949) epic, it is available as a "Region 0" (world-wide play) through "International Historical Films" for 35 USD. It is very cheap at this price for such a work of art. This is much less than some comments below might indicate. My copy is in Texas, but will check it's Europe play-ability when back in the UK.

Another wrong information, about Stalin's reward was decided by collegium of generals and members of politbyro. And Stalin's contribution to victory in Stalingrad was greater than you are able to acknowledge. Nontheless it was plan of marhal Zhukov to encyrcle axis forces.

Huh, great video. Really fits. And without being communist or even Russian (in fact - I'm German), I'll have to admit this was one of the most heroic battles of mankind!
Can someone post the complete English lyrics here, please? That'd be great!

This is the most moving song of World War II, capturing so much emotion and sense of loss in mankind's deadliest battle. May I ask what movie were the scenes taken from?

You should watch the series "The Unknown War" by Burt Landcaster. Talks about every battle that happened on the Eastern front in great detail.

The battle of stalingrad are most bloodiest battle in human history. Even their city been occupied by Nazi, the red army still never give up and keep fighting bravely until german exhausted fighting and finally surrender.
