Beautiful and raw episode - the strength she has shown and that many women show in the face of such trauma is incredible. However.. commenting on the credibility of a sexual assault case and what the victim did or didn’t do, hits a nerve with me. Surely she knows the questioning, guilt and the shame that can sometimes cause woman to stay silent for decades. Much respect to her and the podcast ❤️

    • @bipolarmumjourney
      @bipolarmumjourney 4 месяца назад +21

You’re absolutely correct I shouldn’t have commented on this case without knowing the details. I was only briefly told that she was accusing a man in the public eye without going to the police first. She slandered his name over social media before going to the police. There are a lot of girls that do lie unfortunately then sadly the genuine cases get thrown out of court. I fully apologise for my insensitive comment however, she should have built a case with the police before exposing her perpetrator.

The didn’t get off with rape because other women lie. That’s a frustrating thing to hear 😡. Less than 3 % of women who are SA’d get a conviction, don’t tell me that most of the 97% lie 😡. Sadly the structure of “justice” is stacked against them.

    • @snakeman9902

Not at all. 63% of rape is not reported.
12% of child abuse is reported.
      2-10% is false..
So most are not reported, or some are probably reported years later..

Call me naive, crazy, stupid, or even a middle-aged boomer. But I am also a single mom with a pure heart and the fighting spirit of a lion.
And today this lioness wants to share her experience with everyone. About a young woman. A young woman who presents herself here. Simply because I question her. Is this the only story she should tell, or is there more?
yes, much more even. and that is why I feel called to share that other story as well. only then will everyone know the real truth.
After seeing and hearing this podcast multiple times, I have had several conversations with my myself. Do I even want to call her out? But, having to pick up the pieces of a broken heart myself for way too many times, it became pretty clear to me that there are not only “fuckboys and bad guys out there”.

This girl who calls herself “Gemma" has stolen the heart of my cousin. For almost 2 years I have witnessed all the love, joys, and sorrows every day from the sidelines. Each smile his son had when he received a gift from you. We have opened so many birthday presents or Christmas packages. Why also break an innocent little boy’s heart?

The thought of dropping my cousin off at the airport, waving him goodbye on the way to his great love in England while you where also living a completely other life is mind-blowing.
Yes, Gemma, we met too. We talked so often via FaceTime. The chats about your dreams, future, and happiness here on the other side of the sea.

To now having to hear that this is all one big fat lie is simply shocking. I'm seriously dumbfounded and open-mouthed astonished.
“How can anyone maintain this double life for more than 24 months?
Apparently there are also women who are manipulative, narcissistic, and capable of completely destroying the lives of a man and a young boy. Leaving them completely shattered. Heartbroken and full of sadness and doubt.

Was it all just fun for you? Was it just a distraction for you? A fun pastime to forget your pain and questionable past? Are you even really who you pretend to be? Is your name even Gemma? Who knows? We'll never know. That’s for sure.

I thought long and hard about speaking up. But if there is something that I hold in high regard, it’s honesty. As a big, loving family, we will always promote values such as respect, trustworthiness, and loyalty. We will never stop to fight for everything and everyone we love. Too bad you will never be a part of our family ever again.
I guess your lessons of life are always presented to you at your present level of understanding.
For now, I’m not saying goodbye to you, "Gemma." I'm saying goodbye to Jane Doe, because we will never know.
I think you are underestimating the importance of honesty.

Also as a victim/survivor of this to make the comment that people in power don't need to s.a people.....that's absolutely wrong. Actually people use there positions of power to do this often. Police officers have been convicted of this. Stick to speaking for yourself you cannot say what's true and not for others. After being through shit myself I'd never ever say someone was lying as you just never know. This stuff is about control. Not about not being able to get up Consenting sex. That doesn't give them the sick kick they want. So your so wrong. People that get plenty sex still rape

@thecentralclub no I'm not forgetting what she went through, I am just gobsmacked that after being through this she would say things like this about someone else's case..before it happened to me yes I was self righteous but after no. I'd never comment now saying someone wasn't or how they dealt with it is wrong. Anybody is capable and theres no right way to cope. Also for her to say no I don't think people of power need to do it that scared me. That's the kind of people that do it most, the perpetrator is usually in a position of power. It actually made me worry for her that this was her view as I feel that makes her vulnerable to people that are powerful. Women need to understand and know this is usually where it starts. The women she's commenting on, will be devastated hearing this If it happened. She will feel judged about how she went about it and that stops people from coming forward. You just can't comment or judge how a victim/survivor deals with something, especially if you've been through it you would think you'd be more understanding

God love you for the start you had in life and everything that came along after for you. You have tolerated too much and when we experience these things in childhood, we do tolerate it later on too as if it is normal to us. I tolerated abuse and had bad things happen in my teens as well. I think you grow up thinking that there is something wrong with you for not liking things and it being normalised, rather than believing that what happened to you was actually bad and wrong. Therefore you are not strong enough at pushing these people away firmly. I agree with you regarding girls who do lie about sexual abuse being so very wrong and damaging to girls who are telling the truth and not being believed.
I was a little shocked when you made a comment about some people being boring for not doing party drugs and the comments about heroin though. I saw my cousins go through a similar childhood to you, with their dad being involved in a gang and murdered, then they grew up as heroin addicts and incredibly violent criminals and it made me totally not want to touch drugs and really strict with my kids. I have paid the price and faced judgement for being the way I am. My family called me cruel and I lost my teenagers because of my stance on going to the police when other people outside my family tried to sell them things. I see my actions as love and protection and I would do the same again. It did lead to me having a breakdown along the way.
I married a cult member, which really is another type of gang membership as you are looking for that protection from the world around you. Cults usually involve control and hierarchies just like gangs. Usually children and women are at the bottom of the hierarchy and if you stand up against it, there is a backlash and you are seen as rebellious. My husband was ex-communicated and trying to get back in, also using their rules to control our household and me. He was very depressed as they cut him off from his family until he could prove himself repentant and let him back in. I left at the point of going to the refuge for the second time. My husband was undiagnosed, but possibly manic depressive/bi-polar as his behaviour was very high and low and took it out on me. He did the same to me, in that he locked me in the house and threatened to set fire to it. When I escaped, he took his life. However, he was teetotal and did not touch alcohol or drugs. He was a natural body-builder and came second in Mr Natural Great Britain, so I didn't stand a chance in getting away, until I tricked him to let me and my baby go to the shop and I went straight to Women's Aid, but they had no room, so I went to a B&B opposite a police station in hiding until I got to a solicitor on the Monday morning. I took the brunt of the blame at first, until his family knew what he'd been doing at home. Then we made amends and I became quite close with his mum and some of his siblings.
I would never judge an addict as I see it as an illness and some people are more prone to addiction than others too. I do feel frustrated when I speak to people that I have tried to help on the streets and they are still stuck after 10 years, as I want to pull them up out of it and make them take action themselves, but I can't, but no one should judge. Maybe people who make those cruel comments towards addicts have been through something as a result of drugs in their life and are angry and frustrated about it, I don't know.
I wish you well for the future. I find great strength in my Christian faith as I am now Born Again and received Holy Spirit in the Church of England at first. When the world around you is going crazy, Jesus is with you in the storm at all times x
