  • Hey hey,
My new place was missing something so i decided to make a Pommel horse.
Here is what i used to make it:
10 x wood board: Length 32 inches Width 2 Inches
    1 x Base : Length 32 Inches Width 19 Inches
3 x half circles ( i draw these by hand so its not an exact half circle)
Height 8 Inches Length 19 Inches
I used 2 meters of Yoga mate
and i got some Vinyl for the top think that was about 1 meter by 1 meter.
When you place the wood boards on top start on the top and work your way down to the bottom i left a small gap on each side so i can pick it up easy.
So there ya have it, if anyone would like more info get in touch and would be awesome to see if anyone else decided to make one.
    Happy Training
    Peace
    NEal.

Neil don't know if you will even get this but this is really cool. Got a grandson that has shown an aptitude for gymnastics and I plan on building this for him now after watching this video. I guàrantee he will be the only kid in the class with his own pommel horse. Cheers from Girard Pa USA.

Hi Don. That's awesome mate. I would suggest using a cable spool instead. I find this one was difficult to start on due to it being so close to the ground.

I like Meka's guest appearance! You're a pretty good carpenter there! keeping it all clean, now I wish I had done a time laps of my building of the big fiberglass sugar skull, I am taking photos of the progress though!

Really nice technically, but man that looks like a ton of work. I get it because it's got the curve it's harder. I just wonder if there's a way to shortcut this, and add handles along the way.

Rich L Hi thank you. It was a lot of fun to make. Yeah handles would be a great idea.

Rich I build speciality duck boats and was thinking about the same thing. I thought that if you used sanded luan plywood, and bent it around the curves of the arches, then glue and fasten it in place using flooring nails it should work, as this is how I build my boats.couple of things though: keep the luan the full length then cut off the excess lenght once its in place. I do this because you need to be able to apply torque to the panel and if it is already cut to finish size you just cant get it bent around those tight radius. Secondly when the panel is being applied start by fastening at the top and work your way down. For the first few fasteners use deck screws änd finish washers. The torque on that panel \t the top and you will pull thru the luan. I can guarantee it as I learned by trial and error on my boats. Apply the screws and nails equally as you go, and by that I mean start at the top on each then work your way down each rib such as : screw in each top, then nail in each rib on each side, then nail each rib each side until you get to the bottom.Cut off the excess luan, sand and you àre done. To make the thing a little beefier you can add additional ribs. That will stiffen it up considerably. Im guessing here, but if you could add the bottom last maybe you could spray foam the interior for additional stiffness and support.. So if you built it as an assembly you could detach the top as a completed unit spray foam it then screw the base back on and finish with upholstery as shown. All I can say is that I cant wait to try it.

Go to woodprix if you'd like to build it yourself.
