I love to see people going into this game blind. This has such a rich story filled with surprises. If you can, try not to read anything online bc it will spoil it for you. Anticipation just isn't as good as surprises. Love the video! Keep it up. 🙌

Nice video man keep up the good work! I know some people have already given you advice, but I just want to reiterate, each final fantasy is its own story! So as an example, Final Fantasy 5 or 6 have absolutely nothing to do with the story of 7. This is the start of the 7 story, and you're meant to be very confused about many things happening. Don't worry it's intentional. Let the story ride out and you'll be in store for something really special :)
There's many things I've forgotten in my lifetime, but man I have never forgotten the thrill I had when my cousin rented the original ff7 on ps1 and that song hit as cloud hopped off the train. Man I never looked back. Been a FF fan ever since lol.

Greatest opening to any game ever made. That opening cutscene is so perfectly executed. I remember the first time I saw it, I lost my mind and watched it like 20 times in a row.

A couple of tips if you continue: 1. It's important to swap between party members often, especially if they don't have any filled ATB bars. Characters in your control have a faster ATB recharge rate, and outside of unique Materia, they won't use their Unique Abilities (like Barret's Overcharge) unless you control them; this is extremely useful for Barret, because his Overcharge gives him a full bar or more back in ATB instantly, which can really help with clutch situations where you need to use an item or cast magic. Each character has a unique role in battle that suits them for specific enemy types and situations, so moving between them often is helpful. Barret is built like a tank and learns abilities that suit this, so it's a good idea to have him draw aggro when you're feeling like the battle is going south. 2. Skills that begin with the word "Focused" or mention increasing the Stagger bar are best used when an enemy is Pressured. Save your Focused Thrust on Cloud for enemies that are in a Pressured state. When an enemy is Staggered, that's your clue to either use powerful magic they're weak against, OR your damage-dealing Abilities like Cloud's Braver, which does a lot more damage when an enemy is Staggered. It's the same with Limit Breaks; unless you know it's going to take an enemy out due to low HP, save it for enemy Staggers to really pile on the damage. Utilizing these skills in the appropriate situations can make HP sponge boss battles like the Guard Scorpion progress a lot more quickly, because you're Pressuring the enemy faster, and taking advantage of their Stagger state to deal increased damage. 3. Cloud's Punisher Stance has a couple of features that help give him an edge over other characters. The first one is that if you use it on melee-focused enemies such as the Guard Dog, or the Shock Trooper, Cloud will automatically counter melee strikes when you choose to Guard in this stance. The only caveat with Punisher Stance is that any dodge roll will move you back to Operator Stance, which may be useful in situations where you need the Operator Mode's gap-closer to cover a big distance. 4. Make sure to destroy any Shinra boxes you find in the environment. They're either tan boxes with black kanji on them, or metallic boxes with a dull red kanji on them. These contain healing items, can restore MP, and most importantly, have a missable item sometimes. Also, keep an eye out for treasure chests in every area. Many of them contain unique weapons for your party members that can help flesh out their skillset, as well as armor for you to equip (like the Iron Bangle you got, which you can put on someone give them another Materia slot for magic). You can't return to most areas once you complete them, so it's a good idea to get used to breaking boxes and scouring for chests before moving on.
Just subbed, you are in for a real treat with this one (and Rebirth if you get to it), the OG is one of my favorite games of all-time and so far the Remake project has not disappointed one bit
Hey man, glad to find your channel and playthrough of this game! Couple things to help out: Your ATB is displayed under the characters names as a blue bar. You can fill two bars worth of ATB. Once filled, you can use special attacks, magic or items; however, you have to use MP to cast spells, and each spell costs a different amount of MP. Your MP value is displayed to the right of the ATB gauge. If you don't have enough MP for a spell, you can't cast it. The only way to replenish MP is by using an Ether potion or by resting on a bench/bed.
Like most of the other comments, it's great to see a new person to the FF series. I've been playing Final Fantasy since the first one. RPG's are my preferred genre personally. I like a game I can spend 100+ hours in and still find new things I missed or things I didn't do. When the original Final Fantasy 7 came out, I spent well over 100 hours in that game. Beating Emerald and Ruby Weapons the first time was such a challenge. This was all before the internet became a major thing like today. Most people if they had internet back in 1997, it was dial up and took ages to load anything. The old school Brady Games strategy guide was the cheaters was to go, and even then I missed some key things. I hope you enjoy this game. Not sure you would like it as much if you were trying the OG FF7 as your first attempt at the series. But hopefully after this and rebirth, maybe you will try the OG before the last one in the remake series comes out.
Bro u got a new subscriber💯 u gonna love this and FF7 Rebirth gon blow u away! Rule of thumb, no matter what be diligent and check ur areas thoroughly(like just looking behind u or going opposite the directed path)especially coming out of cutscenes. Most games hide VALUABLE items in these moments but FF games takes this to the extreme. Also spamming ur abilities will end so many battles more quickly for u you have to stay sharp on ur atb(charging blue bar under ur health bar) and cycle thru all ur characters frequently. U got it tho my boi and good luck on ur FF journey! These games made a lot of us fall in love with gaming in general but especially RPG's🤝🏼✅
Yeah I'm gonna sub just to go with you on this ride. I played the original FF7 on PS1, back in 1997 when it first came out, when I was 16-17 years old. I'll tell you it defined me, in a way, from then forward. Today I consider FF7 my all time favorite and you don't even know how excited I am about the fact that they are remaking it. And they are doing a great job so far (still got one more game to release to finish the story). You are a gem in a pool of rocks my man. It is so rare to find someone that genuinely has never played the original or knows anything about it. If you're up for the challenge, can handle some corny scenes sometimes, then I think you won't regret it and it'll change you as a person... and for the good.
These games are built to love. Nice to see a newcomer learning to enjoy them. The OG early games still hold up, through the pacing will seem slow. Looking forward to more story.
I’ve been getting this video recommended to me for the last few days and finally checked it out, and I like your vibe! I’m also gonna be playing FF7 for the first time (albeit the original version, not the remake) over winter break once I finish up my finals, so I’m excited to also hop onto the “first time FF7” train with you!
I have never played a final fantasy game up until I gave ff7 remake a shot last year. The story was brand new to me and now rebirth is probably the best game I’ve played
Yeah man, loved your playthrough so far, keep them coming! This was a great Final Fantasy game to get into for a new player. The story, characters and music are legendary 😎🔥🔥🔥
FF7 fans - oooh YT feeds me new person playing amazing game.. strap in we’re here for this ride. Dude, I hope you love it and I’ll follow your journey!
This is an RPG if you run away from battles and/or don't explore you miss out on a LOT of potential gear and levels. Take your time, you'll regret rushing the game when you end up being under powered and under geared later on.
Enjoy this game it blew my mind I knew the original I even played it a bit with my brother but I never completed it or anything like that. So when remake came out I was like gotta give it a try atleast and now I’m obsessed for life
Looking forward to your playthrough! FFVII is incredible! My favorite game since I played the OG in ‘97. Also, this is a stand-alone story as I’m sure you know already by now, so you don’t have to play FF 1-6 first, they have nothing to do with this story. Enjoy your journey and thanks for sharing!
FF7 (PS1) was my first entry into Final Fantasy as well as any JRPGs also. It represents a special time in my life, not just because it was a video game. Not all numbered entries are the same, or connected for that matter. They do have certain themes and names in common, but otherwise no 2 stories are the same. Enjoy this masterpiece.
Don't worry if something doesn't make sense it's not supposed to yet. Each final fantasy is its own independent story 1-6 are different stories in different worlds, so you started at the right point for this story.
Ff remake introduced my son to square Enix games. Now he’s completed most ff games. I think he still needs to play 8, 12, and 13. He started playing the persona series also. Once you get into eastern rpgs it sticks.
Yeah I'm here for this playthrough. Heads up though, every final fantasy is COMPLETELY separate to eachother so don't worry about starting on 7. You haven't missed anything
“Man that guys looks strong.” That my friend is the legendary Barrett Wallace. Keep an eye on him closely especially when he speaks , he is not what he may appear to be. Hopefully he’ll become one of your favorite ff7 characters.
hell yeah man! Also i do suggest you play the og ff7 after this playthrough since they changed the story in this one, and some characters in the remake are aware of it. :)
Im new but its cool to see you playing this i remember when i first played ff7 remake it blew me away cause i never played the original but the remake is up there love the gameplay and characters happened to see your video in my recommendation and hope you enjoy your playthrough 👍
Just so you know, every Final Fantasy title is it's own game and story. You did nothing wrong jumping into 7, you DO NOT need to play 6 to understand 7 because they are completely different games, the numbers just mean the order the games were made. WITH THAT BEING SAID, 7 is the most popular Final Fantasy of all time, it's known as one of the most famous video games of all time and this remake is a remake of the original FF7 that came out back in 1997 on PS1. This remake is a 3 game project, you just started Remake which is Part 1. Rebirth is Part 2 that just released earlier this year, and Part 3 will come out in another 3-4 years from now(they have yet to name Part 3 yet). You are in for such a treat, this game is absolutely legendary and they did a fantastic job remaking it into a more modern title, one of the greatest stories of all time, please take your time and enjoy! So glad you are experiencing this for the first time!!! :D
Yuuuhs, FF VII for the Win! Go for it brotha! Good for you for the new channel brotha! You keep it up man!! You can't go wrong with FF VII, FF XV or FF IX or FF X!!!!
Remember to learn the ATB bars for when you can and can’t do abilities/spells/ use items, The counterattack in Punisher mode, the timing on overcharge and to watch your MP (break boxes for more MP). The “staggered” thing is important too. The orange bar at the bottom of the enemy’s life bar is how much damage they have until they’re staggered. What drives that orange bar up depends on the enemy but there are descriptions for what attack can drive up stagger specifically in the menu that you use to select your attacks. Like when you select “focused thrust”, it should say that that attack specifically can drive up the stagger bar. When the enemy is staggered, that 160% number is the number your damage is multiplied by while they are staggered (keep this in mind to keep combat flowing and the game fun and open). That percentage can be increased but it’s with a character you can’t play with at the moment, she comes later.
43:42 Great battle! Pay more attention to your ATB. That battle you had so many full ATB and you just ignored your opportunity to use special attacks. All the characters you will have in your party have special abilities.
I know its a blind playthrough but I'm going to give a few pointers. Always break the Shinra boxes, you are missing out on valuable items. The combat takes some getting used to, but switch between characters is vital. Like how you learned that Barret had the lightning magic. ALWAYS learn weapon abilities for every weapon. And assess all enemies. (That's a bit later.) Other than that, have fun and enjoy the story. I know its a lot to unpack the first go, but you can replay any chapter.
love seeing newcomers to FFVII. Just an FYI every FF is completly different. Each one is its own contained story with a different world/universe/characters. You dont need to play the others to understand VII. You are supposed to be confused about whats happening until the major revelations in the final part of the Trilogy which isnt out yet. Enjoy the ride, hope you enjoy. I hope you continue on and play the 2nd part Rebirth and get on the hype train for the 3rd & final part of the Trilogy. You are in for one helluva ride. Hopefully you see why FFVII is considered the best game ever made by a lot of people, inlcuding myself. Have fun.
Watch out for spoilers in the comments! The vast majority of fans are respectful, but it's the internet so there're always a few... and it only takes one to ruin one of the best stories in history. The OG in 1997 was my first JRPG and it blew... my... mind!! But wouldn't have had the same impact if I knew what was coming. Cheers! :)
Hey man, I'm a big FF fan so got recommended your video. The original Final Fantasy 7 was my first Final Fantasy game, and suffice to say... It was unusual, and took me a while to get used to the gameplay mechanics. The 'approach' is probably the way to say it best. I took a 3 month break after playing for a while thinking I was probably never going to play it again, then one day I did... And it all just flipped in to place. Wonderful game, the series has an impeccable standard of usually being 9 or 10 out of 10 games, and this 'Remake' version is fantastic too, as well as the sequel to this. Hope you enjoy the ride man, I don't play many games nowadays but am still obsessed with the franchise. Every entry always attempts to be the best looking game in the world at the time of release, the music is always John Williams-standard and the characters are colourful too. Enjoy dude
final fantasy will get you an audience; and you seem like a cool guy from this first video Im watching. love genuine new reactions in the community because theres so much emotion tied to the game usually.
@jhillinthehizzouse I loved this new twist with people like us to stay on our toes even if it changes from the original and confuses you so much! I really dig it.
You don't need to play any of the other final fantasies to understand what's going on. They're each set in their own universe and completely different stories and characters. Just so you're aware you can play this game and have no knowledge of any of the others ( even the original ff7 that came out in '97) and be completely fine
Excited for you to experience it. If u finish please check out crisis core too its a prequel. U may even just watch in on YT bc its outdated gameplay since it was on psp but it helps u figure out the story context too
Somebody REALLY needs to tell him that he’s not missing anything and that every FF is a new story. I think he’s playing this with the thought process that he’s not going to understand everything because he didn’t play the other games when in fact it’s intentional and everything gets explained as the story progresses.
Fazo - In FF7 Remake - the plot is quite mysterious at the beginning, especially if you haven't played FF7 Original from 1997!! In this game there are three Waifu(s) (but not only them) - who help poor Cloud - with his migraine headaches and PTSD - (post-traumatic stress disorder) - this game is basically the special case of Psychological drama, you won't find even the simplest headache pills in this game or from PTSD!! Cloud can only be helped - in this matter - by Flirting with all the Waifu(s) - in this game !!! of course, the main problem is the obvious two Facts - Cloud - firstly - is shy towards women and secondly - Cloud has no social skills - to Flirt with Waifu(s) - he simply needs to learn how to flirt - to be able to fight the pain headaches and PTSD!! I will only briefly sketch for you - the situation - three Waifu(s) - Tifa - The Queen of Fists and The Flower Peddler - The Queen of Flowers and Thirsty Jessie - The Queen of Thirst for Cloud Strife!! Thirsty Jessie - this Nickname - is not accidental - already in the first minutes of the game - Thirsty Jessie - pays special attention - to Cloud's "Balls" !! Thirsty Jessie - this Nickname - is not accidental - already in the first minutes of the game - Thirsty Jessie - pays special attention - to Cloud's "Balls" and Cloud's name - it is not even necessary to remember it - for Thirsty Jessie (10:15) and further Thisrty asks Jessie - if Cloud - has a close relationship with Tifa!! (29:00) Thirsty Jessie - says herself - looking at Cloud - "There are some places that sword can't reach..." This of course applies to Cloud - Yes Thirsty Jessie - constantly - thinks - Cloud's "Balls" - Thirsty Jessie needs the really Badly !! Thirsty Jessie is also addicted to Adrenaline Rush - you'll see it before you go through the lasers - then you'll hear it - from - Thirsty Jessie - Just don't take your blue eyes away from me!! The next moment - where Thirsty Jessie thanks Cloud - for Adrenaline Rush is the beginning of chapter 2 - because you chose - a shorter 20 minutes - in chapter 1 before the boss fight!! - the reward is additional items - from Thirsty Jessie - something extra for Cloud!! The next moment is - chapter 4 - after the mini game - if there is at least 80% health on the bar - after the mini game - on the bike with Thirsty Jessie - BikerBoy Trophy - and Reward from Thirsty Jessie for Cloud - in the Cutscene - plus special song in this BikerBoy Trophy Cutscene - this mini game is very difficult good luck!!
I am forcing my bud to play the original and I hope the internet forces you through this one. I know for a fact that you stumbled on a real gem here, bro!
Also you said “this what happens when you jump straight to the 7th game”. Each final fantasy game is its own story so you’re technically starting at the beginning of 7’s story. If you ever plan to play the second game (rebirth) know that there’s a character featured heavily in the game that was from a prequel game called “ff7 Crisis Core”. I never played crisis core so to prep for rebirth I just watched a story summary of that game. Hope you get to rebirth after remake!
not sure if you caught that the bomb you set off in reactor 1 wasnt actually that big. Sure it took out some pipes and hurt it, but not enough to make all the destruction in the town happen. That quick cutscene with President Shinra showed they hit a button and then the machines inside started destroying their own reactor and caused the massive explosion, all to deceptively pin the massive toll of life and destruction on your characters/avalanche.
this is the one man. this is definitely the one. Youre on the youtube algorithm now.

Your ATB is displayed under the characters names as a blue bar.
You gonna enjoy this man.
The rabbit hole is deep my friend, enjoyed the content, looking forward to more!
Thank you for the love n support fam ✊🏾
Perfect timing, i just finished FF7 remake and Yuffie DLC. Bout to jump into rebirth
omg im definitely watching you 🎉
Love seeing new ppl jump into this world! Get familiar with the lore, it's gonna get crazy!
Welcome brother
We want moreeee!!
This game will have you hooked. Give it some time
Such a good game. The second one is amazing too
your first facial reaction, i already like you, i'm committed to this playthrough XD
I have never played a final fantasy game up until I gave ff7 remake a shot last year. The story was brand new to me and now rebirth is probably the best game I’ve played
Man been hearing a whole lot about rebirth
Yeah man, loved your playthrough so far, keep them coming! This was a great Final Fantasy game to get into for a new player. The story, characters and music are legendary 😎🔥🔥🔥
FF7 fans - oooh YT feeds me new person playing amazing game.. strap in we’re here for this ride. Dude, I hope you love it and I’ll follow your journey!
Its gonna be a nice ride
Remake and Rebirth are goated with the sauce. hope you play through both!
love FFVII hope you enjoy
Every numbered Final Fantasy is its own story. Enjoy the ride!
Always good to see people experience the Magic of FFVII, even if its not the OG.
HAVE FUN, HOMIE
THIS ONE its the best series in gaming history
Always down to watch someone play FF7
Yuuuhs, FF VII for the Win! Go for it brotha! Good for you for the new channel brotha!
You keep it up man!! You can't go wrong with FF VII, FF XV or FF IX or FF X!!!!
Man so many final fantasies 😭
I might just watch this with you, then play Rebirth, afterward!!!
Remake?! Oh I'm here for this.
❗️❗️❗️ thank youu
I can't believe you never played a Final Fantasy game before, especially the OG FF7 game back then of this remake of it. Well you're gonna enjoy THIS!
New FF player! Let's go! Enjoy the ride mate!
Hey man. You're doing great. Keep it up!
Wait until FFVII: Rebirth. Crushes this game, and this game was still worth the play.
Need to see the rest for your fresh reaction! Right off the bat when you said Cloud seems like he lost his memories. Just you wait!
Ahh man episode 2 drops today 😅
Have fun.
Cloud must watch his decisions. OR....
He'll regret it.
Really hope you like it, this could be a fun series to watch.
I’m honestly excited to bring some more tbh 👀 let’s continue to turn this series up!
The algorithm has decided i must go back to watching blind Final Fantasy 7 playthroughs to help rising youtube stars. Im in!!
Hahah let’s gooo!! I appreciate yall!!
Always good to see more people enter the FFVII fandom. Have fun brother.
“Link start.” I understand that reference.
Thank you fam!! And Yes Link start!! 😭
ya man
No need to look up lore. Game should explain everything as you go :)
@Fazolive And you will be confused!!! Even the people that played the original like myself are confused about certain things!
@jhillinthehizzouse I loved this new twist with people like us to stay on our toes even if it changes from the original and confuses you so much!
I really dig it.
I'm late but I'm here for the journey!
cant wait to see more
You don't need to play any of the other final fantasies to understand what's going on. They're each set in their own universe and completely different stories and characters. Just so you're aware you can play this game and have no knowledge of any of the others ( even the original ff7 that came out in '97) and be completely fine
Excited for you to experience it. If u finish please check out crisis core too its a prequel. U may even just watch in on YT bc its outdated gameplay since it was on psp but it helps u figure out the story context too
Hes hooked.
One of us. One of us
Haha
Ill follow alobg with ya.
Hahah let’s get it!! 😭
I've never seen your channel before but I'm definitely staying for this. FF7 is in my top 3. Hoping for your come up my nigga
Somebody REALLY needs to tell him that he’s not missing anything and that every FF is a new story. I think he’s playing this with the thought process that he’s not going to understand everything because he didn’t play the other games when in fact it’s intentional and everything gets explained as the story progresses.
I. Am. So. Excited.
Blind play through, locked in
Fazo - In FF7 Remake - the plot is quite mysterious at the beginning, especially if you haven't played FF7 Original from 1997!!
Use punisher mode to counter enemies like the shield soldiers.
Can’t wait for more. All glory to God.
not sure if you caught that the bomb you set off in reactor 1 wasnt actually that big.
