The problem with this "New Retro X" is that this is just a cheap fake. I mean, throwing thumping LinnDrum beats and a generic polysynth onto something does not make it 80s. This is why I stopped to look for Retro Synth and Retro Wave and whatnot. For example, this track has muted guitars. You can't find those in the genre you are talking about. Nor the ingredients literally hundred of Italo songs became a hit with. Stick to the original. The only one I can recommend in that matter is Mirko Hirsch. He still captures the 80s feel perfectly in 2016.

this instrumental is ok…the rhythm and accompanients tracks are great, but it’s missing the melody track (the lyrics converted to music) but…it’s most enjoyable.
this is the original, this doesn't sound near to anything in the 90's. This piece screams 80's. You probably like 90's better, as far as I can see from your description
