There's a mission you can unlock, after getting the rare collectibles from hallow zero, where a H.A.N.D member talks about how characters born with red eyes have a strong aptitude with ether activity. They can resist the infection longer and become stronger within the environment. Pink eye color means they have the strongest known resistance to ether, while blue eyes are very susceptible. Which is why belle has blue eyes and wise has light colored eyes, meaning they both are weak to the ether environment and need a bangaboo to get around.

The fact that her mom kept her away from swords and handing her different weapons all the time, only to end up giving her the sword in the end to make her daughter kill her(Mom)... Talk about tragic.

"This is the only way"...Miyabi's mother was so adamant against Miyabi wielding the blade, understanding what was necessary to wield it and wanting to keep Miyabi from that fate or trauma. In a desperate situation, in order to protect her daughter;s life, only then, would she allow it to happen, in a final act of love and protection.

It looks like part of some ritual to inherit the demon sword, either watching a loved one die(sharingaan style?), or having to shed some blood with the sword, or even having to kill a loved one, . Miyabi has a line about "inheritance" in the 1.4 trailer, and the start of the animation also talks about the inheritance, so I'm guessing it's that. And there's this recurring idea throughout the animation where her mother tries to prevent her from holding a "sword", including the knife to peel the apple. So maybe it's linked to that as well.
