    as young teens we would go to Playland....we use to hike the same area you are at...in the 60,s...we found an entrance...and were able to explore the inside of the structure...on the cliff side we were able to see outside the cliff through slits in the structure ....the beach and the cliff house were directly in front of us...cliff house to the right and the coast highway and beach to the left... had been told that this area was an abandoned fortress ...used to protect sea approach ...inside was dark and water leaking all over floor...there were rooms and hallways...we went down 3 floors of steps ...the darkness and depth got the better of us...on our traverse down and up you could see tiny spots where light was coming in to the rooms and hall ways from the cliff face...never thought anymore about that adventure until Kairos started looking at the cliff with eyes open...all that were there on that trek are still alive today...this info was shared to all...made us look at our expierence through different eyes...thx Kairos...your info much appreciated

    I was visiting there in 2013 before I knew anything about this stuff and I vividly remember sitting in my van stoned and thinking those cliffs were some of the most bizarre geology I'd ever seen... and I had some college course work in that field. Thanks for climbing up there and really discovering what it really is... amazing. I am still eagerly anticipating what you find over on Treasure Island!

    I feel like you have discovered the old forgotten remnants of the last stage show (civilization), which have been crudely dismantled and pushed to one side in hopes we may never see them. Least of all ask questions or begin to wake up. Any moment a studio ceiling light will come crashing down Truman...take care.

    How awesome is this. Why is it that these kinds of places have the crappiest street views. They really don't want people to see this place. There's more places with melted stamped bricks all along that coastline. "Carr" bricks and they are for sure melted. Thank You for sharing with us. Google Earth does not give this place justice. There are some coastlines with better satalitte imaging that you can make out the details of things on the ground. I'd like to see LIDAR there too. I haven't figured out how to get it yet. Something happened along there. In modern times. They say there was fires, but bricks don't melt in regular fires. Those stairs have been there forever. So have the walls. Amazing! I'm going to go through all of the street views I can to see if I can get some good shots of this so I can make a video about it.

      Something melted those bricks. There are "Carr" stamped bricks along there that I saw on another channel, but it wasn't far from there and it was next to the street near a busy intersection. There were stairs there too. I think they may have had a catastrophic explosion of some kind there are it had to have happened pretty recently to have stamped "Carr" bricks.

    Great work! And for me there is no doubt that something is covered up. But at the same time I see typical fortifications attemps, like the observation bunker (12:59), and the stairs and those circle stonework (foxhole/position for some heavy weapons) This is most probably from WWII, just improvised work (poor job) on top of all the rubble/cover up. What is interesting are the burned bricks, tiles and the formation of these, that is the most important to document and research. Keep up the great work!

    This is an old retaining wall that they sprayed concrete over years ago to prevent wall erosion. There's photos of before and after the wall was added, along with photos of after they sprayed concrete on the wall. The wall was added after Sutro Heights and the Cliff house was built, sometime in the late 1890's and early 1900's.

    I'm not sure what you are looking at is heat damaged. Quite a lot of that cliff is covered with concrete, which held back landslides, and had planters built into it for the greenery planted down the cliff. It has degraded over the course of a century plus since it was constructed. There's no longer a billionaire (in today's money) paying for it's upkeep.

      @@I_am_Kairos I'm guessing during the WPA destruction of the residence in 1939 and subsequent redeveloping of the land into the use it has today. Wikipedia: Sutro Heights Park entry gives some info. Photos do exist showing the statuary with the Cliff House in the background. Cant speak to the melted brick, other than erosion.

    • @avnostlga
      @avnostlga 3 месяца назад +1

      @@I_am_Kairos Agreed. No idea on that. The spray concrete I can understand as erosion abatement. Pt Lobos Rd is just beneath what was an open hillside. Could be the WPA had no interest in cleaning up the site, just removing an unsafe structure. A hill covered with debris will erode slower than an open hillside devoid of vegetation. These are good questions you ask. I have no answers beyond speculation.

    this was so hard to wrap my head around, this transition from red brick to puffy ashen stone, it's still sinking in years later... I think the more I can understand about this strange transition I will experience less cognitive dissonance
    anybody seen someone attempt or succeed in recreating this metamorphosis of brick? seen anybody going into detail about whatever we know, even speculation, about the process of transformation?
