When the opening chords of that song starts at a Deacon Blue gig, you're about a tenth of a second away from the roof being blown off the place. The hairs on your neck stand up, the adrenalin pumps and you feel like you're part of a giant, writhing, screaming, singing entity. There's not a feeling on earth like it!
I saw them in Liverpool last night and I totally get your words! The whole place kicked off. There was no roof as it was outdoor. The sun was just setting to the side of the stage over the Mersey as everyone sang along. It's a moment I'll never forget and I've been too more concerts than I can remember!
Blessed to have lived with the original time that Deacon Blue started... and OMG even more blessed to able to see them evey year singing the classics again. AMAZING, looking forward To Leeds, Sheffield and Manchester 2023.
I worked for East Ren. Council 2012 to 2014. I did schools IT. I was told reliably tgat Loranne and Rickys children had gone to their local School round the corner from their house but had went onto high school by time I was the IT guy. The school had no parking so I'd parked on the street. I did my IT work got in my car but was blocked from laving by a Glasgow City bin lorry. On the radio came dignity.... he's a worker for the council. Has been 20 years. Surreal but very real.
There's classics and classice but when every person between 14 and 55 years of age in your country knows every word of that song then you have a Real Classic
Ste2442. I am from north east England. Glad you said they are playing in Liverpool. I will have to see if I can get a ticket. Dignity was my brothers funeral song 6th October 2022.
One of the greatest songs of all time.
Their debut album 'Raintown' (from which 'Dignity' is taken) is a modern classic and is full of timeless songs that will probably outlive us all.
100% 👍❤
@@stephenalanmoore7278 Nearly every one of these tracks are played at their concerts now. Absolute Classics

I have seen them several times and not once did it feel like that.

This was on the other night when I was flicking channels. Good programme charting Scottish bands and history.

John Maynard Keynes who would have thought😀
The key to reversing Thatcherism. Her poisonous creed was invented precisely to destroy the post war consensus of tax and spend.
And to cap it all, Ricky is an Arab, fucking legend 😊 TWFDU
Such a beautiful song, love the underlying story / meaning. Thank you DB.
