I was a top level youth player in the 1970's (multi year Oklahoma youth championship team), and can vouch that Dallas has ALWAYS produced high-level soccer talent.
An English immigrant, meets an Ethiopian immigrant, who is in turn married to a multi generational BBQ pit master. He then meets a retired athlete who represented the US in international competition and now instructs the children of immigrants. He presses on to visit a cowboy attire shop. Finally, he attends a rodeo. Congrats, Rog. You have just lived the most American day in the history of the Republic. I would wait in line to shake your hand and talk about football and the American experience with you for five minutes.
I’ve lived in Dallas my whole life. Arlington (the barbecue spot), Frisco (FC Dallas), and Fort Worth (The Rodeo/Stockyards) aren’t really in Dallas, but they are in the metroplex that we call Dallas-Ft. Worth (DFW) hence the name of the airport. Glad Rog got to tour it and see a little bit about what makes it special.
Who are the current top prospects in FC Dallas academy or in the region? Man, that BBQ looked great but I never heard of elote in a cup before. That looks bomb. I wish we had better Tex-Mex cuisine here in Boston!
You really think that player will develop soon enough to be considered an American, given the current push by Texan Christofascists (and those of five other States, apparently) to secede? Asking for my friend Uncle Billy Sherman.
What do you all think GFOPs? What's a spot we have to visit next time we're in Dallas?
