      Never called Finebaum in my life and certainly have more intelligence than those "type" of people. And I still want him fired. He has ruined a program in 2 years. No one is scared of Bama anymore. And that's a problem. Take that 19 off your helmet you dumb idiot Bama won't see another for many years if ever.

    As a Bama fan since the Bear Bryant days, I like DeBore. I'm happy with him. I just know that players coaches don't win National Championships here. They might win the SEC or be around the top of the SEC but 0 natties. I've lived through the 80's and everything after Stallings so I'm happy and hopeful. ROLL TIDE ROLL.

      Point taken, but let’s be real: in the NIL era it’s more like 18-24. I read last year that the average age of Indiana’s team was only 2 years younger than average age of the Miami Dolphins.

      Yea, same here! Kinda sad that we get this emotionally invested but this has always been the norm for diehard Bama fans! We shouldn’t go into this season with too high of expectations, this team has more sophomores and RS sopho. than we’ve ever had. If they’re pretty good this year everyone better take notice for 2027.

      @Bama8-UncleLou2chances are, if this is the case, you probably were never on board with DeBoer to begin with. DeBoer was my first and only choice, and I haven't seen anything yet that would change my mind about that. We got better in year 2, and we made the playoff. Eventually, we're gonna have to win the natty, but it's only year 2. DeBoer is still getting his dudes in that fit his style, so it's only going to be up from here, because he continues to knock it out of the park when it comes to recruiting. The future is very, very bright for Alabama football.

    As a lifelong Bama fan in their early 30s (so I remember the pre-Saban days), I'd give DeBoer a solid B so far. I think things are going as expected post-Saban, but if there is an 8-4 year with a loss to TN/Aub in there, then we can talk hot seat. Got to get better on the OL this year.

  • @TimothyJeffirs
    @TimothyJeffirs 17 days ago

    There was definitely hot seat talk after the FSU game... Even Paul Finebaum publicly asked for a new coach. Maybe it hasn't been sustained, but the hot seat talk has popped up a few times. Maybe not with a ton of momentum, but I think a lot of bama fans are unhappy.

  • @ajoflow
    @ajoflow 17 days ago

    The question offensively is if the coaches want to adjust their offense to fit the dynamic talent of Russell/Crowell, or they want to maintain the pro style with Mack.

    • @Che-revo
      @Che-revo 17 days ago

      That’s true, but none of it really matters if they can’t get that killer instinct if they can’t get that mental toughness and learn how to sustain the physicality. Nice guys never win championships in this league. If he does, he will be the first. He’s a good coach they can recruit well he’s very good with quarterbacks. I don’t know why the offense looks so god-awful. I hate people are putting so much pressure on that high school kid to come in and be the savior at running back that lack of physicality losing to teams that you should not lose to is the biggest thing hurting him right now

      Yepp, the year we hired both BOB and Doug Marrone (right after the Jaguars fired Marrone). Whatever DM taught our oline those years he was with us, broke us fundamentally and we haven’t been the same since. Bryce and Jalen’s escapability in the pocket those years are what kept those stats from looking worse.

  • @dedratrs
    @dedratrs 17 days ago +3

    I'd say anything less than 10-2 in year 3 would cause anger. The schedule is probably the most manageable we've had in 5+ years. He has to fix the offensive line though. If the run game is mediocre again there will be rumblings that grow louder and louder as the season progresses.

    • @emhezmfe
      @emhezmfe 17 days ago +1

      UGA, @Tenn, A&M, @Lsu is a pretty tough stretch. But yes, overall not a terribly difficult schedule. Even if they go 2-2 there, they shouldn’t lose any others. is it *possible* SoCaro or Auburn could beat them? Sure, but I’d say not likely. @Vandy could be tough, but I doubt the ‘Dores will be anywhere close to what they were last year.

    • @dragonsurge1
      @dragonsurge1 16 days ago

      When will Alabama fans realize that a manageable schedule is the worse case with DeBoer?
      Most of his losses are against unranked teams because he’s terrible at getting his players to properly prepare during the week unless it’s a big match up

    • @dedratrs
      @dedratrs 16 days ago

      @dragonsurge1 Nah this is a bad narrative. Yes we have come out unprepared and lost to teams that are not good. We have done far worse against teams that are good though. He's 17-4 against teams that have not made the playoff. He's 3-4 against teams that have made the playoff. Against teams that are actually good we've lost more than we've won. It is not a disadvantage to play an easier schedule. We ain't that good brother!

      We don’t want to fire the coach. We just wish he had a different mentality. Soft guys don’t win championships, especially at Alabama his teams everywhere he’s ever been plays soft they don’t have that killer instinct. They don’t have that mental toughness and can sustain it. We’ve seen it over and over again. We’ve seen him unprepared on more than one occasion if you can’t be physical, if you can’t have that killer instinct, if you don’t have mental toughness, if you don’t have that attitude if I want to get out there and hurt somebody then you’re never gonna win a championship here it’s just not going to happen.

      @Che-revoI understand the optics but the players that he's brought over with him have been our best players... Brailsford, Bernard, Cuevas... All dawgs... I think a lot of bama fans mistake players not fitting the system (not in a system that maximizes their talents) as a player lacking a killer mentality... We now have a roster we can see what he brings fully I believe, we will be young, so there will be growing pains... But I believe we will have a full picture of what his brand of football brings us

    If I’m Deboer, I’m not really worried yet. However, if they can’t run the ball and look soft again and it’s what costs them like last season, I’m really worried if I’m Grubb. The majority will be calling for a head. They got the firing of the o line coach. If it’s the same result by end of season this year, they’ll be expecting the OC on the chopping block

    DeBoer is fantastic! He’s a winner. Bama is fine. It’s not the Saban era; he got out just in time before the insanity. @Che-revo 17 days ago

      @Speedrtr that’s exactly the point I’ve been trying to make but it’s hard to talk to Internet people nowadays, especially the younger ones. We don’t have a problem with recruiting. We don’t have a problem with scheme or any of that the problems we have are fundamental it’s cultural because if you’ve lived long enough, you’ve seen it time and time again. You’re never ever ever going to win championships if you can’t be physical. And none of his teams are physical. He’s a very good coach. He’s supposedly really good with the offense, but I haven’t seen any evidence of that yet. The lack of physicality, the lack of mental toughness they don’t have any killer instinct and if you don’t have any of that, you’re just a regular decent team and that’s what you’re going to continue to be.

    • @Fooballsicko
      @Fooballsicko 17 days ago +2

      @ merify3391
      Nope.
      Box score watching you are.
      Oregon outgained Indiana. They had more first downs. They moved the ball all day on IUs defense. The Oregon game turned on critical plays, injury impacts, and luck.
      Oregon just lost their #1 RB. Do they throw the ball first play in that case? The back up RB causes a fumble on bad timing inside their own 10.
      IU had 3 fumbles that got the luckiest bounces you have ever seen to not be turnovers.
      ________
      Bama game. IU completely dominated them. 400+ yards vs less than 200. First downs. Possession. Up and down the entire game Bama was beat and couldn’t move the ball and couldn’t stop anything.

    Who would do better at Alabama than DeBoer? This season is probably going to be another average season for Bama, even if they make the playoffs like they did last year. So who would do better? Who should be in the coaching search?
    How is DeBoer building his team? Are there particular opponents he has in mind such as UGA, TX and Ohio State? Is he building his team based on his previous experience at WA? I think he just has a WA style, and that is what he thinks is successful and what he wants to do.

    Our offensive line hasn’t been punishing like someone else mentioned since at least 2021. That has to be fixed yesterday! Our defensive line hasn’t been great either. There’s a narrative (even with Saban) that they don’t produce NFL quality players any more.
    I’m not down on Byrne. Most here won’t give a damn but I hope he gets the woman’s basketball coach right. Dawn Staley could’ve been here and profiting a long time ago. DeBoer just needs to get the right folks in place to get the trenches shored up.

  • @JohntheNobleSavage
    @JohntheNobleSavage 13 days ago

    I am not convinced that this coming year will be as good as was last year. Deboer doesn't think that he did anything wrong and now since college football payers are paid to play football at the various colleges they are totally unconcerned about learning anything while at their chosen schools; rather, their whole purpose for being at Alabama is to try to get into the pros and to make millions! This is not the football of Bear Bryant or Nick Saben and consequently this new version of an Alabama football player, at least in my view, leaves alot to be desired! The simple fact is that there are now students at the University of Alabama who can not work a simple Algebra problem, write a simple paragraph without gramatical mistakes, or has a clue about anything being taught in engineering, medicine, or law. Rather they go to "special" football classes where their grades are literally given to them to stay in school. This year we will be facing schools such as Georgia, Ole Miss, and L.S.U. In short no way!

  • @af4224
    @af4224 17 days ago +1

    The mood is fairly straight forward, we need an O line and a running game.
    I am happy with Deboer as he was the best out there at the time, of note Cignetti was already hired before the coaching search.
    3 losses is again probably the expectation hoping for a run game to reduce the number of losses.
    Regardless, expecting to hire a Bryant, Saban, or Stallings is unrealistic. 1 NC a decade would be a great result now. Cignetti seems to be the new Saban however his age is working against him. Indiana looked like Saban's Alabama last year. The big question is who is the better coach now Cignetti or Smart.

    • @kevinbond8966
      @kevinbond8966 17 days ago

      Sure Cignetti is a great choice with hindsight. Were you even thinking Cignetti at the time? I didn't even know who he was.

    • @af4224
      @af4224 17 days ago

      @kevinbond8966I did not even know about Deboer, however Cignetti was on Saban's staff early on thus could have been on the radar, regardless he was off the table. Indiana looked a LOT like a Saban team but Cignetti is 66, too bad he did not get an earlier opportunity. Cignetti looks like the best coach in D1, but it still maybe Smart. Deboer seems top 10 with a LOT of room for improvement. Regardless Deboer is just now getting his guys in the program which could create a lot of upside.

    If DeBoer can't run the ball, can't fix rush defense and lose the way we did in 2025....oh yeah, he'll be on the hot seat at the end of 2026 season. I hope he can get it fixed. 2 years is plenty of time getting to get these factors fixed.

    @garyroenicke2102 16 days ago

    This schedule isn’t as tough as the last couple yrs. Should be 5-0 with Georgia coming to Tuscaloosa. Then 4 tough games followed by 3 very winnable games. So 10-2 at the Worst and if not, DeBoer will again be on the Hot Seat

  • @sean_nowell
    @sean_nowell 14 days ago

    As an Alabama fan, I don't want to get rid of Deboer. There is no one out there that would be better than him who would consider leaving their job. The only ones who MIGHT be better (some of which are, some aren't) are Sark (TX), Dan Lanning (UO), Kirby Smart (UGA), Ryan Day (OSU), and Curt Cignetti (IU). That's about it, and not a single one of those guys will leave their job.
    Now get to production numbers. All of the best players over the past two seasons have been Deboer's players, not Saban's. Not a knock on Saban, but his players simply don't fit Deboer's system. Germie Bernard, Bray Hubbard, Josh Cuevas, Ryan Williams, etc have all outperformed Saban's players. This year I believe there are less than 5 of Saban's former players left on the roster, which more than likely means Deboer has full control of the roster by now and can run it how he wants
    Also, we've gotten better each year under Deboer. Granted, it's a two year sample size, but winning 9 games year 1 and 11 games year 2 is impressive for the coach who has to follow what Saban did here. Not to mention that 8 game stretch after FSU this year. And I'm a firm believer that Ty was dealing with like 5 injuries towards the end of the season, which is partly why that run ended and our offense fell apart towards the end of the year. Defensively we had our best year since 2016, and I really like Wommack at DC
    All that to say, I'm very confident in year 3 under Deboer

      He said that because they had a camera in his face lol what did you expect him to say. Lol I think he’s a really nice guy. I think he’s a good coach, but I just don’t think he’s ever gonna win a championship here. Of course he’s not gonna say that. All of that is true by the way he is a good coach. He’s a very good recruiter he’s supposed to be good with the offense, even though I haven’t seen any evidence of it. The biggest problem that he has with all of his teams is the lack of physicality. He don’t have a lot of dudes on that roster that wanna hurt you anymore like they used to have they have a problem with mental toughness because we’ve seen them lay down and quit. We’ve seen them get ran through and just give up lack of physicality lack of toughness if you don’t have that there will never be a championship.

      @stjones521 17 days ago

      “More competitive against the best teams”? Alabama beat Georgia 2 years in a row during the regular season under Kalen. Won a playoff game last year and made the SEC championship. In saying all that, this is the first year that he’ll have all players that he recruited on the roster. I agree they must be able to run the ball but not being “competitive” is ridiculous.

    • @Fooballsicko
      @Fooballsicko 17 days ago

      I think it’s more of the blow out losses.
      The blowout loss to a bad OU team in 2024. The blowout loss to a bad Florida State team in 2025. Blow out loss to Georgia which could have, and likely should have cost them their playoff spot. Absolutely destroyed top to bottom by IU in the playoffs.
      And that OU playoff game. Looked more like OU choked it away than Alabama played well enough to win it.

      I agree he shouldn’t be on the hot seat at all YET, but they’ve objectively ended the season poorly 2 years in a row. They were down 21-0, 17-0, 24-0 to start each of their last 3 games right?

  • @charlesyarbrough2619

    I think most of the problems are in the coordinators. The "swarm defense " doesn't work against teams that can run and pass the ball. The offense play calling last year was horrific. I think Nick Sheridan did a better job the previous year. The amount of trick plays was insane. After the first Georgia game, teams knew how to attack Bama. Everyone kept blitzing and appplying pressure because there was no run game to defend. I think this should be the put up or shut up year for Womack and Grubb.

    • @auspiciousman
      @auspiciousman 17 days ago

      Womack’s defense works against good offenses though. Bama held Tennessee to 20 and Vandy to 14 this year. The defense would have done much better second half of the season if Bama had any sort of consistency sustaining drives. They were constantly backed up against UGA and OU.

    • @charlesyarbrough2619
      @charlesyarbrough2619 17 days ago

      @auspiciousman, Vandy gashed them for several big plays. Tennessee gashed them in several big plays. Mostly run plays for both. Georgia killed them in the second game. The defense had no idea how to stop them. Yeah, some of that falls on the offense for not sustaining drives in the second game against Georgia but that game started out strong for Georgia. Vandy was gashing Bama in the first quarter.

    Alabama has one of the worst returning productions averages in the country. That combined with a new QB, and the massive portal departures the last 2 years. Very low rushing numbers, lack of Oline talent or desire to block.
    I honestly don't see them doing much better this year than the last 2 years.
    That stretch of Georgia, Tennessee, A&M, and Vanderbilt.
    They're dropping 2 of those games.

    When is the SEC gonna learn that more SEC matchups means more SEC losses? 9 games means you have to have 2 cupcakes just to try and stay healthy. And it ensure 9 x 16 (teams) = 144 losses spread across the conference. I'd rather we play 7-8 so we can play another 1-2 serious games out of conference and beef up that resume. Florida v Michigan. Bama v Ohio St. Georgia v Oregon. Tell me that aint getting more *^&*ing views than the 3rd year of Bama v Gerogia when you already know there's 50/50 odds we see each other in the SEC Championship anyways.

    The SP+ returning production came out. Alabama is 90th. This is really not the year to have a not good portal.
    South Carolina is 5th. Texas 6th. Georgia 8th. Florida 10th. A&M 14th. Oklahoma 16th. Tennessee 26th. Ole Miss 28th. LSU 30th. Auburn 46th.
    Alabama plays 6 of these SEC teams. 5 of them have returning experienced QBs. 🤷‍♂️

    My mood is this year better be some HIGH OCTANE offense and high energy violent physicality. We have a young team, we won’t have the most snaps or the most seasoning. So energy and quick strike aggression IS THE WAY FOR US THIS YEAR we have to DUDES they got the talent.

    No it’s not just Finebaum callers who KNOW that Kalen Grubb is not the one (two) to lead Alabama. He may be a good coach but I don’t think he’s a good coach for us. If you want to “pump sunshine” and think “everything is fine”, then that’s your prerogative but a lot of us that are actual alumni and have been supporting the program LONG before CNS started refilling the trophy case have “seen this movie, too”.
    KD is Bill Curry 2.0. If you don’t know who that is, Google him. He WASN’T a winner lol
    And I’m an actual person who knows that if KD misses the playoffs then he shouldn’t be back in 2027

    • @af4224

      Deboer is much better than Bill Curry. Bill Curry was the worst coach we had since Bryant. I have Deboer right below Perkins currently and yes I expect 3 losses this year but I am hoping for more running game which could reduce that total. The thing about Curry is it should have been Bowden.

    If you choose to believe in this coaching staff that’s fine , I don’t need to read again all the reasons anyone may, last year South Carolina had um by the you know what , that should have been yet another loss. Just wait till they have 2 or 3 losses towards the end of the season. Then there will be plenty of HOT SEAT talk . Just wait it’s coming and I hate it . Roll Tide , anyway! My mood is not good

      @af4224against Oklahoma which pretty every national media org has admitted also didn’t belong. The SEC (and I’m saying this as an SEC alumn) turned out to be one of the most overrated conferences this year. The SOS metrics were deeply flawed. If they were to do it all over again based off what they saw in the postseason. Oklahoma and Bama would have been no higher than 14th or 15th. ND and BYU would’ve been in. ND would have at least given Indiana a game. Alabama didn’t deserve to be on the same field as Indiana and it showed.

    • @af4224

    Respectfully, Alabama had one of the best defenses in the country last year. When the offense actually strung together drives (like it’s functionally built to do), the defense was near elite level. Unfortunately, the abysmal run game made it hard to keep the defense fresh when it counted against top tier teams.

      This take is golden bama is set to bring back one of the strongest/biggest secondarys in the country next year if the offense can manage to run the ball and not put so much strain on the quarter back its a winning recipe

    • @paulshears5202
      @paulshears5202 17 days ago

      @gagewatton5232Yes sir they don’t even have to be 50/50 balanced. I believe just 80 yards rushing per game is enough to keep opposing defenses off the QB. And I also firmly believe that the way Ty Simpson was cooking weeks 2-6 if they had 60-80 yards rushing per game, they’ll could’ve beaten anyone in the country

    • @Fooballsicko
      @Fooballsicko 16 days ago

      OU had a worse offense than Alabama and a truly elite defense despite the offensive woes.
      Bunches of top 5, 10, 20 measurements.
      Alabama had a total of TWO top 20 stats on defense. They weren’t elite even if there was a good offense. Also when you look at game data they often had plenty of time of possession. So that excuse about the offense doesnt fly. They were let gassed. They were just getting the ball run right up their face cause they couldn’t stop it.

      That means that we were exceptional in other areas. Penalty problem was cleaned up since even sabans last few years. Elite passing offense that just got limited. Elite secondary. Most defensive struggles came from not being able to sustain drives on offense from the run game. Only would worry if we didn’t improve in multiple ways from the first season

  • @guineveregruntle6746

    It’s amateur hour with DeBoer & Company. There are so many positions that will be filled with inexperienced players. 8-4 is likely, maybe 9-3, perhaps even 6-6 with injuries to key areas. Strength and conditioning has lacked for multiple seasons. The program is trending down in 2026.

    @dwrolltide 17 days ago

    The problem is that DeBoer has NEVER had a good run game. The 2023 Washington team averaged about 125 yards on the ground, which people seem to forget. It’s not like we have Kirby or Lanning or Sark or Kiffin with a track record of balance. If we had one of them I’d have patience because generally they’ve always been able to do it. We’re all waiting to see if DeBoer / Grubb can do something they have never done in their entire careers. That is concerning.

    • @KeeganInTheWild
      @KeeganInTheWild 16 days ago

      That’s because that’s not Deboers offensive play style. He’s not a pound the rock coach where you average 150+yards rushing. He’s a stretch the defense and use the run to keep the secondary humble then gashes you for a 40yrd explosive.
