    1:18 - The Old Bach Gesellschaft Ausgabe did not engrave this measure in their publication of 1867.

      gerubach so why they put a red measure? Is there another version of the same scrolling?

      @@Eldiran1 The reason is supported by the fact that one manuscript copy contained it and another did not; unfortunately both are lost. One of them belonged to Mendelssohn, the other one I don't know the owner. Carl Weinrich recorded in the 50s omitting the here red-marked measure.

    The choice of registration in the fugue is clever and gives it some color to pimp the otherwise primitive subject

    • @bercaferca4554
      @bercaferca4554 2 года назад +2

      Not primitive (otherwise), it’s quite creative and Bach-like, badass registration as many have said and quite Zelda-like like the C Minor fugue from Toccata in C Minor

    Curious registration for the fugue: it begins like a synthesizer cosmic sound. I use to play alternating the manuals from a soft to a rich plenum at the end (with G-sharp on the last chord), thus rendering the work as grandiose "Prelude and Fugue".

    What do the red notes mean ?

    • @smaradav_
      @smaradav_ 3 года назад +1

      I think the difference between what the performer played and what the sheet music is? Not necessarily that the performer made a mistake, just that they could've had a slightly different version of the piece than the one gerubach has.

    Somewhat of a bizarre registration for the fugue. And the (lower) mordents played on the 8th note beats at the beginning of the fugue, but in-between the beats by the time he gets to around mm. 20. (?)
