I dont like rap. Well, i didnt like it before i found ren. Now sick boi is one of my all time favorite albums and i absolutely adore rens music in all aspects. He has given me a new appreciation for music that i hadnt had for a long long time 😊💜💜

Ren has a lot of cheeky songs like Love Music part 4 ( which is very different from the other 3), Uninvited, Down on the Beat and there are many more...I love both sides of Ren.... Heavy messaging and the light hearted side of Ren.... I think if every song was intense and deep then they wouldn't hit as hard and this also shows he's not a one trick pony who can only do "sad music." ❤❤ Loco is completely acapella, btw.
This is definitely a snapshot of the hip hop/rap side of Ren. It was recorded before Hi Ren and really just meant as Ren wanting to have some fun and make a hip hop album. He actually spoke about being conflicted about this album coming out after Hi Ren and maybe having people expect that same type of depth. BUT it's definitely not the full scope of what he can do. If you're looking to go back to the heavier stuff, I would second one of the above comments for How to be me (live) and For Joe. I'd also recommend going back and watching Money Game 1 and 2. The Love Music series is, to me, about his love for music and there's definitely an evolution in the styles throughout. Part 3 is my favorite though I do enjoy the very tongue in cheek style of Part 4. I didn't love it in the beginning but it's grown on me. In case you did pick up on it, Loco was all acapella which he actually acknowledged in the lyrics. You did pick up on the fact that he carries over a lot of themes and references through the album. One that I haven't seen picked up is that he uses the flow from Suic*de at the end of Love Music 4 when say "kill em with the Suic*de flow", he's actually using the same flow from that song (censorship because of yt but I HIGHLY agree with you about masking that word) . Sick Boi 2 isn't an add on track but more a sequel to the Sick Boi the original. I'd revisit both back to back to see the connection. There is actually a bonus track on the deluxe copy available to download on Band Camp. It's called Castles made of Sand. I'm sad it didn't make the official release because it's a very strong track. Ren is such a versatile artist who is able to go between deep introspective songs and more upbeat ones while still demonstrating master lyricism. One song that I personally feel is one of his more impactful tracks is Dominoes. Aside from music, I would love to see you check out his 1m subscribers-defining success video and maybe even cover a few interviews. Personally I think his interviews with Knox Hill (he's done a few) and his interview with Zach Sang are the best for getting insight into him. I haven't checked out your patreon yet but I wouldn't hesitate to join up if you did full unedited reactions to that type of content.

I'm just at the start but I'm so glad you're reacting to this! I have severe chronic illnesses similar to Ren and unfortunately in our community being told it's all in our head is pretty typical. I had to be partially paralyzed before anyone listened to me. It's AWFUL how quickly they blow you off when you're suffering so much.
Kinda killed me with the editing and chopping off some of the best parts, not gonna lie. But overall I’m glad you reacted to this. I don’t listen to rap, well, I didn’t before Ren. I own 11 copies of this album in one form or another(including a signed CD copy by the man himself) 😊 Love everything this man has put out. Can’t wait to see what’s next.

Sick Boi was released digital, digital with 2 extra instrumentals and 1 bonus track on Bandcamp, CD, Vinyl and Cassette!!! I got the regular digital, the Bandcamp version cuz he didn't release that version until the last push of pre-sales for Sick Boi, a cassette and a cd. There were like 2 vinyls, 4 cd and several cassette options as far as artwork went... I believe they are still available on his website. Prof and Ren Collab July 12th on Prof's channel. Ren announced first song off his new album coming next month. Waiting on the collab with Chris Webby to have a release date.

It initially surprised me a little how some reactor's have interpreted the "Illest Of Our Time" title,he's also referencing his on-going medical issues. I guess it just doesn't play exactly the same in the US,as i think it's a lot more common to use the word "Sick" rather than "Ill" when you're referring to medical matters, so i get why it's not always as obvious.
Illest was more a slang word from my hip hop era. Regularly used in hip hop back in the 90’s. That’s more where my head went to. But knowing what you just said, it’s not surprising he went with that, since he likes the hip hop of that era as well. I didn’t catch on to the sickness part but still went to the era he was probably referencing.

Actually, you're both right. So many of his bars have double or even triple meanings. In this case he's referencing both in the title and the lyrics. You can hear how he jumps from lyrics about being ill physically to others about being "ill" lyrically.

I don't know if you noticed... in Hunger it was Ren doing the beatboxing. In Loco it was acapella, Ren even says in the song he's layering his voice. Uninvited, was Ren making a cheese love song, so much that they were playing it on the radio, but if you listen to the words, oops.
