Mod Creator here - holy jesus i did not expect such an in-depth review! it's been such a blast watching people's playthroughs and their reactions, but this is something else! i'm super glad you brought up the lighting and skybox changes as well, that took so much tweaking and many hours were spent doing the baking process for the lights lmao, the outdoor maps took 10-12 hours per lightmap generation many thanks to your praise and review of my little brainrot project! glad you enjoyed it :)
I heard about the light maps in a "Developers React" to a Halo CE speed run and the Bungie developers took a moment to refer to that as "Oh Light maps..." as what sounds like a dated and time consuming process. I believe there must be an easier way in video games now days? I'm not too sure what light maps all entails but I love all of this work that you did! Wow! The scenarios are so much richer than what is in retail and the atmosphere is pulled together so well with your detailed adjustments to the lighting, I just had to make a video about it. You're right, there was just something missing in the retail version. Thank you very much!
@KYOTRUclips so light maps or baked lighting are still used today, even in games made with unreal engine 4 and 5, it's sort of ubiquitous because it's way cheaper performance-wise than dynamically lighting everything in real time (such as with raytraced global illumination) The main thing that dates it, for halo in particular, is that the older titles can only light via CPU, which is waaayyyyy more inefficient than lighting with the GPU (think of how only the highest end GPU's can use RTX type features)
It was great I enjoyed it, but the main elite buddy needs to be invincible, at one point the level broke because he wasn't there anymore. Legendary seems to be impossible aswell except with the scarab mode where you can help him immediately.
@@canyongoat2096 at which point did the level break? i make him invincible at a certain point as a reward for keeping him alive, which is also when the alternate mausoleum section plays out, and i made sure to make him as tanky and competent in combat without trivialising gameplay. as for legendary yeah i didn't bother to playtest that lmao, h2 legendary is generally unfun so i explicitly stated the intended difficulty is heroic and that i never tested or really balanced it on legendary
@@zadeinator2370 youtube doesnt let me reply and tell you. My original comment already contained that and more info but i had to rewrite it 4 times and basically take out that part. Now I tried to reply and say it again but that comment is not visible either. Basically it happened multiple times at different parts of the level even near the end at once. When it happened a little earlier the mausoleum part played out as it would in the original campaign but with friendly elites and hunters which didn't let me finish the mission because it was softlocked until i turned on them.
Sup, KYOT! I voiced the Elite commander (the one on the comms, not the Elite buddy) for this mod. Happy to see you cover it, I was proud to be a part of it!
@@KYOTRUclipsespecially for an Elite, you have to add a lot of inflection and be real Shakespearean. One of the most fun parts was DMing dialogue ideas back and forth
I played through this a few days ago and it was AMAZING. This was everything I felt like Gravemind should have been in the original game. Something broke in my game though and the entire final set of scenes around the mausoleum never triggered. I think my elite buddy might have died or got stuck at one point.
I see, it looks like the recent updates have fixed those issues, but it may have come down to an enemy getting stuck. The Elite Buddy is made to be well armored to prevent from being killed easily.
He mentioned it's a nod to a radio station he used to grow up listening to in his home town with that call sign. So at least one person worked at the station
For some reason the Companion bugged out and got stuck in one of the early rooms, He never respawns so if you progress all the way through the level, you get stuck in the Mausoleum of the Arbiter after the brutes are killed, because the scripted conversation (I think thats what happens) never occurs.
I’m naming the Elite Councilor Commondoree. His armor makes him unique and he is a lone wolf in realizing the lies of the great journey of his Covenant religion.
It does kind of detract from the original intent of the level, fighting between two different factions who are both hostile to you. Probably makes it a lot easier and trivial too.
@@Horgler You actually do fight both elites and other covenant before teaming up with the elite prisoner. It's part of the mods story which you would know if you know... you actually played it. Lol
High Charity is a ship built around a ship in the middle of a city? It seems way to big to built. I understand it’s a game but even so, I logically can’t accept that.
It makes sense when you think about how many resources and people the Covenant had. This is the apex of their civilization. Think about the Egyptian great pyramids and how they seem almost too large to have been built so long ago. But they show how much power the Egyptian kingdom truly had back then. One of the largest structures in the world for a long time made just to be a tomb for their pharaoh.
Think of High Charity as a mobile home that was built around an extremely strong power source that you believe is from a god you worship. The Dreadnought is just under 6 miles high, so it's believable a homeworld could contain it.

That's awesome! You did a great job; I love the added dialogue as it adds much more to the scenario. Voicing a character in Halo would be so cool!

My favorite part is Elite Buddy leading the charge in different areas. It feels like Braveheart 😄 lol
There is his name! Bruce. William the Bruce.
That skybox looks gorgeous
Just did a play through based off your recommendation. Awesome mod!
This needs to be in a proper Halo adaptation. 👁👄👁
whats great was i playtested this weeks ago and even in its pre build version it was cool
Bro that intro is so over the top
I know, muahahaha!

Farcry diving used for the intro lol love it
This mod does the impossible, it manages to bring the marines to the end of the level
No one.
Not a Soul...
KAY WHY OH TEE when bro needs to make an intro.
He mentioned it's a nod to a radio station he used to grow up listening to in his home town with that call sign.
So at least one person worked at the station
Oh the elite? That's my buddy Kay 'Wyotee
So cool. Specially that elite.

The idea of covenant ships fiting in the background was takeit from a concept ar of halo 2 aniversary
why are my elites not friendly :((

That's a nice name. Councilor Commondoree leads the charge!
what is the music at 7:00?
It's part of the Cairo Suite ruclips.net/video/vJ3VFzuuUMI/видео.html
Elite allies on this level are not lore accurate
Even if a mod tries to be "lore accurate" it won't be because it's a mod.
This far outweighs "lore" 🤓
@qsff5099 no jack Sherlock it's a mod what did you expect

@Horgler who cares lol
