Comment from one of Roy's grandsons on Lipstick Alley:
"But what I will say is that Elvis always made it clear on how much of an influence he was on his vocals and delivery, especially on ballads. He apparently felt so indebted to him that when my grandfather died unexpectedly, he started secretly sending money yearly to my grandmother. He never mentioned it when he called or visited her. It appeared to be from the record label as royalties but she only learned it was him after his death due to the estate informing her. That money didn't stop until the 2000s, decades from when it began.
Was this due to him feeling guilty for his financial success knowing my grandfather and other black artists should've been just as financially successful as he was? Possibly but it is what it is. Take that for what it's worth."

Thank you so much 💓 for this video much appreciated, And I didn't know Elvis Presley stole his singing style.
Nobody steals. Every singer, performer, artist, actor is inspired by someone. Elvis always talked about the roots of Rock and Roll. You should watch the mini documentary "Remembering Elvis" on RUclips. I actually think there is a picture of Elvis and Roy Hamilton in it, among other black artists.
He came out a year are two before Elvis, when you great people have to follow.
James Brown and Elvis Presley were good friends and admired each others talents. James authored two books, and one contains this quote about Elvis: 'I wasn't just a fan, I was his brother. He said I was good and I said he was good; we never argued about that. Elvis was a hard worker, dedicated, and God loved him .
Yep. On the last page of his autobiography he said he was happy with the legacy he might be compared to Elvis, whether you preferred him or Elvis. "He taught white America to shake their ass"! Brown very deliberately courted white audience and was very grateful Elvis opened up us honky's to R&B culture. Brown was also the first celebrity to arrive in Memphis when news of Elvis' death broke. That just about says it all my friends.
If that makes you feel good, fine! He still stole everything from us.

Elvis emulated this man because he loved his style. Elvis received quite a bit of hate towards his music in the early years due to his emulation of African American music.
but someone who emulates him is known as the so-called "King of Rock and Roll" though. #theironyofitall

Well Michael Jordan emulated David Thompson and Dr. J. Michael Jackson didn’t invent pop, but he was the king because he did it the best and was the most popular. I don’t see any other rockers outselling Elvis.
@@patrickhunt6055 that's a typical and hilarious deflection when both Michael Jordan and Michael Jackson don't have anything to do with the guy in this video.
@@househead67 it’s only hilarious if you’re ignorant and can’t understand a simple comparison. It was an example of people emulating others. Can you imagine how this dude felt? How he lived & died seeing someone just steal his whole creation run off & be called The King of HIS intellectual property? Smh..
Elvis and Roy were friends. Roy Hamilton's son stated Elvis loved his father and considered him his brother. They met in 1969. Roy's son said his father also gave Elvis some lessons on his operatic style of singing. When asked if Elvis stole his father's style he said no. Elvis emulated his father.Jackie Wilson was also friends with Elvis and said "I lot of people have accused Elvis of stealing the black man's music, when in fact, almost every black solo entertainer copied his stage mannerisms from Elvis".
When Jackie Wilson became sick, Elvis paid for his care in a nursing home till the day he died. Elvis also helped paying Roy Hamilton's medical bill's and funeral costs.
I recommend watching the mini documentaries "Remembering Elvis" to see what famous black artists had to say about Elvis. "Elvis and the black community-that ecco will never die" is another version of it that also shows how the white racist community reacted on Elvis. It's an eye opener to many. I also recommend " Elvis- The king of kindness" and "A generous heart" His generosity is part of why he became so loved, but few know about this side of Elvis today.
