Considering how heavy the weight is of his signature guitar, (had the chance to hold one) compared to Pat's physical stature, he is truly remarkable! That axe is a boat anchor compared to most jazz boxes! It's like a Les Paul with f-holes!
Pat Martino’s “Symmetrical Parental Forms”. This genius saw the Augmented triad and the Diminished 7th chord as the starting points, the “parents”, of other chords/“forms”. 1: Play 554 on GBE for C+ or Caug. LOWER any one of those notes by one fret, and you’ll “parent” 3 different MAJOR chords. RAISE any one of those notes by one fret, and you’ll “parent” 3 different MINOR chords. - So 6 other chords can be formed based on that original Augmented “parent” chord. 2) Play 4545 on DGBE for a Diminished 7th chord (named for any of those notes). Lower any note? Get a Dominant 7th. Raise any note? Half-Dim7 or min7b5. - So 8 other chords “parented” from that one Dim7. - Cool eh? Pat was a genius, and I’ll be spending much time on this magic.
The drummer's cymbal doesn't sound good and I'm a guitarist! Pat is working hard to keep pushing the "bass" and especially drummer! Pat deserves master musicians all the time.
No matter how hard I wish , I know there will never be another Pat Martino in my lifetime . I feel very fortunate to have heard his guitar .
I saw him play for the first and only time in 2017. Very glad I did.
@@AlexSosaBolivia We're seeing him now too in this video.

Do you know when this was performed and recorded?
Je suis complètement d'accord avec Lionel Biet !!!!... Je ne suis pas Lionel, je n'ai que 30 ans de pratique...
Who composed this tune?
This is a Martino composition.
Simply amazing! Terrible camera work, though.
“ lean years”.... what a peculiar title for a song that is....
Pat was indeed going through some "lean years" in 1967 in New York when he composed this tune.

...a risk he had to run?
These guys are great, and the cymbals sounds nice and trashy - - - quite nice indeed.
Santa Claus dammit why aren't they wearing masks
Pat is great of course, but the band is just OK, no more.
