There was a really cute moment in a GF panel where Alex talked about Soos and Stan's relationship;
"I imagine probably in the first week of having this little kid work for him, Stan-you know, even though he acted like a gruff jerk, was secretly happy to kinda have someone who looked up to him for once in his life, and Soos was happy to have someone who would listen to him and tell him what to do, some kind of father figure. And even though Stan is the worst possible father figure, his heart’s in the right place and Soos is somebody who only sees your heart. He sees the best in everyone."

Stan cares about Soos so much that he tried to get the government to erase the date and somehow ended up on the no-fly list. Stan sees Soos as family and the Pines are a great found family.
As someone who's also never met his dad, I will always love and appreciate the message of this episode.

i love this episode because we find something about soos who is the happy go luck dude but has a sad backstory that ended with a happy twist

@@terririnella4032 A couple of years ago, Jesus Chambrot wound up in the hospital with some serious medical thing (I don't remember what at this point, although I could look it up), and Alex Hirsch tweeted about his GoFundMe, and really signal-boosted it as "help the real Soos!" Once Alex did that, they met the (fairly high) funding goal really quickly. It's true -- everybody loves Soos.

Kind of amused they didn't really notice (at least in the edit) Dipper meeting the Young Wendy and getting the other side of the age difference.
Yeah I was a little disappointed with they get there reaction to that. Dipper being like "Great. NOW Wendy thinks I'm cute! First I'm too young and now I'm too old."
@@9ansean I mean there's a lot in this one to react to, no biggie, just thought Mabel going "now you know how she feels creep" and his reaction being "...yeah...I ugh, huh, wow" worked well as a follow up to the aftermath of the whole discussion he had with Wendy after the shape changer adventure. Kinda giving closure to the crush, moving it fully into a more healthy friendship.

As someone in Soos' shoes, this episode is tough. Even knowing family is what you make not so you're related to, I'd still be lying if I said it never bothered me.

Dolph Lundgren is famous for staring in similar movies like Schwarzenegger. He has been in some time traveling trash movies as well. That's what that reference is for.
He was also a Rhodes Scholar, a Chemical Engineer, and learn to speak English without a European accent.
The Lolph Dungren joke is like 3 levels deep. It obviously references Dolph Lungren, who was in a movie called Universal Soldier with Jean-Claude Van Damme. They're dressed just like they were in that movie. One of Jean-Claude Van Damme's biggest movies was Timecop.. where he played a cop who went after people screwing with the timeline. So Timecop->JCVD->Universal Soldier->Dolph Lundgren.

Right with you guys, this episode hits hard. It's also a much needed exploration of Soos wich gives the goofy comic relief character a lot more depth. Love it when a show does that.
What i also love is that they don't find any excuse for Soos's deadbeat dad. He ist just a piece of crap for not giving a hoot about Soos, and thats it. Just like real life... a lesser show woild have tried to fit a conclusion to the story where his dad returns and tries to fix his realtionship with his son in the last 5 minutes.
Also let's not forget the ever amazing vocal performance from Justin "I keep stammering until we find them!" Roiland.

I just KNEW from you talk about family in a previous Star Trek reaction that episode was going to hit you guys hard in the feels and Katrina especially. This won't be the last time Gravity Falls will do that for you. I'm just loving your investment in such beautiful storytelling.

In case you didn't freeze to study it, Soos's license is a realistic looking Oregon license and has Soos's full name of Jesus Alzamirano Ramirez, and address as 32 Chambrot Drive, Gravity Falls, OR and it is a Class "C", whatever that means . . .
Class C licenses are just regular licenses that authorize you to operate any vehicle up to 26,000 lbs.
To operate any vehicle heavier than that, you'll need a Class B or Class A.

But silliness aside this is a hard hitting episode with a lot of heart. It is a very important lesson for kids and adult needs a reminder as well.

3:54-4:00 Interesting. I'd heard that was his full name before, but I never new the writing was pronounced that way. I had to play this back several times before I even realized where it was on the card with the Spanish sounding of the letter J. I wonder how you guys knew that.
I think it’s just pretty well known how Jesus is pronounced in Spanish, I’ve met a handful of people named Jesus and it’s always pronounced like “hay-soos,” and if teachers were to see a student with that name on roll call or something it’s really unlikely they’d say it with the english pronunciation. also given the context in the show that we know he’s Latino and that his nickname is Soos it makes sense
The message about knowing who your family is, such a powerful and meaningful one that sadly most don't learn till much later in life.

That was rough to watch. i kept waiting for Paula to ask if she is ok. It makes a lot of sense and ive been critical in the past but it hurts to see someone like that. I wont make any assumptions but you deserve whatever sort of fulfilment or acknowledgement u desire but if u dont get it it doesnt change what an awesome person youve become.

It’s funny that, despite the prize of Globnar being a Time-Wish that does anything in time without causing a paradox, one was still caused anyway. Mabel caused a Bootstrap Paradox by teaching kid Soos the vending machine trick, but she only learned it from Older Soos. Not the first time Mabel has caused time anomalies, but not one that’s pointed out as much.
Isn't a more bigger paradox the fact that the kids incidentally led Soos back to the Shack just in time for Stan to hire him
