Absolutely fantastic, 42mm, 80 hours, COSC, sublime finishing, the bracelet adjust....but most of all TAG Heuer ...👊😎💪💯
Yep!! Super impressed 👀
Tag has been on a roll recently. I like that they’re doing
I love what they're doing! Really impressing me recently
They are doing better, but they still have a steep hill to climb out of the luxury watch gutter. They need to drop the Formula quartz line completely- then do a total rethink on their pricing levels
I've always liked the Aquaracer. Don't be a snob and buy the watch you like the look of!
Not sure what you mean? I feel like TAG have had some years of not very good products overall, I like the brand but the value for money was somewhat poor previously, but I feel they're turning that around in a big way!
@@WatchYourselfJorge I'm talking in general rather than to you personally!
@@jamesj97370 oh sorry! I definitely agree then! Snobbery doesn't help anyone!
very good improvement with the movement and fair price point. Watch overall looks good
Very fair price for the spec!
I wish you all the best on getting the moustache metas certified , once that process has been fully completed you will have the f1 range renamed jorge in your honor .
🤣🤣🤣
😮😅
best moustache in the game
how large shall I grow it???????
@@WatchYourselfJorge im think of a classic english handlebar moustache
The green dial is 🔥🔥🔥🔥
It is so pretty....
Hey, since there are not many reviews so far, thumbs up for that. For me, the Tag Heuer is just the cooler, more modern brand right now. Tudor has etablished with 100% manufacture-caliber but the look is more timeless, than special. Tag heuer created as u said a more aesthetic watch with the last AR 200 and the new AR300-Series. COSC is cool, but not that big of a deal, since most watches today could easy achieve the cosc-standards, so its more of a nice plus or feature, which gives the consumer a better feeling. the biggest point by far is the 80h power reserve here and the beautiful dial, which is very unique so far.
glad you found the video useful! and im inclined to agree that tudor is a little more timeless and TAG is more avant garde. cant wait to see what they have lined up next
I have the 43mm Professional 300 version, if this had been available at the time of purchase I’d have gone with the 42mm. Love the new wave pattern dial, the Green three handed version along with the Blue GMT are tugging at my purse strings as I type.
You can't go wrong with a blue GMT ;)
Yes. With this offering looks are better and specs good for the price. Tried to like Tudor they just look boring and can’t help only see them as an homage. Then again that is what they were made to be. An homage.
Personally I love Tudor but I get the criticisms they receive! I think of them as very retrospective in design which doesn't appeal to everyone
Yes, I like this. Green GMT for me!!
Good choice!!
It's a nice watch and I would like one. I already have a Carrera, but it's no Tudor, they are not in the same audience. I have the Black bay 58 and love it. I don't think they will blow Tudor out of the market. Also it's worth remembering that non watch people know what a TAG is. I haven't ever had anyone mention my Tudor but I have had multiple people mention my TAG.
Best comeback in years!
Since the Kim Kardashian tape
yeah id definitely agree lol
TAG looking great recently. Keep them coming
Huge improvements!!
I actually think they’re aiming for Omega. Not in terms of the movement, but with that luxury feel of a modern dive watch. Tudor is still into either vintage watches (Black Bay) or professional tools (Pelagos). Other similarities between Tag and Omega I’ve noticed recently is that they try to be recognized from afar. I mean all Tudors, just as many other dive watches, copy Rolex in their design. Although there’s nothing wrong with it, both Omega and Tag put some effort into creating a different bezel, a different dial, a different micro adjust clasp, etc. However, in case of Tag, although their bezels look great, the iconic shape itself looks off when turned in less than 5 minute increments (that way it looks all over the place).
Tag Heuer is on a a big resurgence lately. The Heuer in-house movement of 80hrs power reserve and better build quality than a lot of Tudors make it worth considering.
Yeah they're absolutely nailing it recently!
I like these especially the GMT
The GMT is especially good looking
I handled one at the boutique today and compared it to the old model. The new one is much more refined, sleeker case, clasp is even smaller, smaller crown guards and crown even. It’s a better watch all round. A big improvement on the old one in wearability as well. I like it! Just wondering how much does it weigh?
actually struggling to find that info!! great to hear how much better it feels...
I think TAG is doing a great job cleaning up their lines and moving up market. Bet they look great on the wrist
They're looking phenomenal!! Super impressed!!
Yes it does and I'm definitely not a fan of TAG. Those awful square hands completely ruin the Tudors.
thats fair! but some love it as the snowflake is seen as iconic... or trying to emulate the Mercedes hour hand 🤣
Hey Jorge, have you done a Q&A yet?
You seem very sound (don't change that!) so might be a great regular feature now.
My question would be: What's your favourite thing about working in a watch shop?
Mine was always selling a new watch guy his first proper watch. Not as a salesman, but as a fellow watch guy ; )
Would love to hear what a customers biggest Dick move was, but maybe that's patreon only content 😈
Sounds like we need to start thinking of doing a Q&A!! I'll definitely answer this in the first one we do ;)
@@WatchYourselfJorge 😈
2nd question would be:
What is your opinion of 21mm lug widths?
How long did it take you to realise the Pelagos 39 was 21mm (their first I believe)?
Nobody seemed to know for months! No reviewer mentioned it at W&W.
Not sure if you were on the Tudor launch live stream, but even the head honcho that hosted it didn't know!
Do you know the lug widths of all four Black Bays (41/39/36/32)?
Do you think its important that they are all different?
Just Breitling sticking with 38 hour power reserve now then? 😂
Would seem so 🤣🤣
@@WatchYourselfJorge Shame on Breitling lol
I love the direction they are going lately and the aquaracer is following along just perfectly
they've improved HUGELY
TAG > Tudor
Which Tag do you have?
Buying one of these new ones?
@@alfieakaronaldog I own the Aquaracer Calibre 5 automatic 43mm in green. I only purchased it recently so I doubt I'll splash out again anytime soon
@@BrianRasmussen440 Nice one 😉
Timex>Tudor
Ooooo that's controversial ;)
I have so many conflicting emotions. I used to own an aquaracer which was my first "good" watch. It was a present from my wife. However, to my shame i sold it to fund my speedy. It was decent and i have nothing against in generally. My biggest qualm is that, with the wave dial, it looks too much like the Omega Seamaster, which, whisper it, im not a fan of.
I think it's more fluid than the seamaster tbh. It's such a shame you let go of your aquaracer though 😭
When two guys paint waves, there will be 100% different pictures at the end. just because omega and tag heuer took the same "wave-theme", they are two completely different watches (in my opinion)
Ok. Went to see this watch and it is really nice. With new specs it is a must see. Price just right. Will try for a discount. Both blue and black on bracelet! Soon for me.
what sort of discount you hoping for??
Will push for 20%. May have to happen later in the year. Wife just bought me a couple of watches. Mido tribute and seiko speedtimer. For bday and father’s day. So will have to be nice to spend money towards the end of the year. Lol. Then again if i get the Rolex call before TH will have to wait.
Great review as always! You said it got thicker, but it is the other way around. The 2021 model measured 12,2(or 12,4(Time and Tide)) mm in thickness vs 12 on this new model. Over all a big step forward for the Aquaracer 300 Pro😊
Ah thanks for the correction!!
Awesome watch really beautiful sporty lovely colours
Argh I have the previous one and it’s nice but the new movement and 1mm less is a better deal
Yeah I think they've done a good improvement tbh
That Batman gmt.. Chefs kiss.
MWAH 😘🤌
I think these look absolutely awesome! Those wave dials man.... I even like the cyclops! I do wish they did a gmt with a dive bezel! 🐐
The wave dials are SICK
Doesn’t fit in the same price category as omega , it’s more in the Tudor, Longines line
Yeah I get that but you can definitely draw a design comparison with the Omega SM 300M
@@WatchYourselfJorge I thinks it’s not even really that , the waves just make sense for a dive watch and especially since tag Heuer makes them look more “grand seikoey” 🤣😭 they definitely knew that omega also had them but they didn’t get inspired by them
IMO, specifically on the GMT model, Tudor has nothing to worry about with the TAG because the TAG GMT is a caller's GMT and not a Traveler's GMT, which is ridiculous at this price point. The GMT watch that puts everyone on notice is the new Longines Hydroconquest GMT, 41mm dial, 12.9mm thick, magnetic resistance and traveler's GMT function with a price tag of sub $3,000 USD. Nothing on the market even comes close to it at the moment.
I do think the GMT from Tudor wins! But you're right about the longines....
Looks great! Everything - and smaller is awesome. Only thing that seems off to me is the hour hand … they kinda went with a non-traditional shape?
Everyone wants their own signature hour hand I think lol
I fell in love and I simply need it❤ Better choice than Tudor BB…
I think they're both a great choice!
They absolutely did, but that bezel action is far too light. Very silky but resistance is too low
It is a little bit janky on the old ones
Huge improvement from Tag, good to see👏👏👏
Improvement is always amazing to see!
Hermione Granger.
P.S TAG is awesome.
🤣🤣
Killing it!!!!!🔥
Hugely!!!
Currently own a brietling seawolf avenger 2 and a tudor black bay and I think this is going to be my first ever tag heur ! That green is abit of me lol
I have the avenger 2 Seawolf! It's excellent! Honestly TAGs game have improved so much, and I got hands on with these new Aquaracers the other day, and they REALLY ARE excellent... 😀 The build quality is so improved
@@WatchYourselfJorge yeap going to have to go try one on the wrist then cheers !
May have missed it, but what is the lug width?
Honestly can't find the info 🤣 should be 20mm though if they're sensible...
@@WatchYourselfJorge me neither...madness 🤣
I like it
Me too!
Nah, I love Tag historically but unfortunately......
Tudor = Dad
Tag = His Son
I agree with you but I also see alot of young guys wearing Tudor as well
@@WatchYourselfJorge Haha, yes, 100%.
I more meant that the Tag was mainly bought by, or for, under 20's.
Very popular parent purchase for their sprogs.
Fantastic start for them though 😈
@@wristopia4101 oh yeah. Even my cousins got one each for a 21st birthday watch
I would say the opposite. Seems like young men like tudor since it has been the hype watch of their generation. Tag was the hype watch of us dads.
Prior to the last 10 years no one spoke of Tudor at least here in the U.S.
@@LouisMorales-zx3jm There is a lot of truth in that, and I am certainly not saying young guys do not buy Tudor, but having worked in an AD that sold both, my experience is that the dad/son thing is a real thing.
One dad said his son could have any watch he wanted.
Because I am a watch guy first and salesman second (would be different if we got proper commission though haha) I was 100% showing him watches I thought he would like based on questions I asked him........
He chose a Tag........ and dad was v happy.....as was I ; )
The only downside for me it's a 42mm 🤦🏻♂️
so is the seamaster 300m! and that wears great!
@WatchYourselfJorge I have Tudor BB 36 and 54... I was thinking of getting the tag aquaracer smoke green dial in 40mm but I heard the movement isn't good :( unless I go for a 43+mm
@@momoz283 I think the movement is still great honestly. But it's just been hugely upgraded
@@WatchYourselfJorge the tag I'm talking about has the calibre 5 movement with a 38 power reserve...
@@momoz283 it's a work horse movement that's not likely to go wrong, so depends what you value. Is it good value for money? I can't say it is compared to other brands, but certainly works well. But the new one is in a different league
Beautiful watch, but unfortunately the Brand has suffered so much that the value a takes a hit. At $4K USA, it is still too rmuch for it. Even at a discount
I would agree BUT I got hands on with it the other day and it genuinely is a different beast ...
I still prefer Tudor. Maybe the textured dial will grow on me but right now I don't really care for it.
That's fair! This is why we have choices! And Tudor is a great one 😎
Loads of folk hate tag for silly reasons. Saying over priced and none in house movements.I own two and love them. Lets be fair all luxury watches are over priced. Least you can buy these.
Not sure what you mean? They have several in house movements. My Carrera is sporting one.
@@urbantrekker am not sure tag build their own movement. But adapt ETA or other movements. I might be wrong. But they are generally not clear on the movements. And have annoyed folk before with this.
@@ryannewby447 Yep they certainly do. They have their own movements, manufactured and assembled in-house. Google it.
It uses a movement you can buy £160 retail. Tag must buy them at £100 and then charge £3k for this. No doubt all “luxury” watches have huge margins, but Tag is more a fashion watch brand at this stage with dwindling credibility and no residual value.
These will be a great £1k beater watch secondhand from next year tho.
@@theamateurguitarist6187 "but Tag is more a fashion watch brand at this stage with dwindling credibility and no residual value."
Nonsense 🤣 Every watch afficiando was drooling at the new Carrera Chronograph last year. Tag's comeback has been immense. They're not dwindling. Just a bit overlooked at the moment, and still working on shedding some bad stigma in years gone past. 'Watch' this space.
Tried one on today and it pops blue gmt version 😊
and the build quality has improved so much!
@@WatchYourselfJorge I agree. The bracelet is crazy good now very Tudor. Just wish they did a traveller GMT but eh it still works
@@mjhastings4534 and the dual is so pretty 😭😭
@@WatchYourselfJorge yes that dial!!! Wears smaller than specified. Even smaller looking than the pro 200 fume dial which was surprising
@@mjhastings4534 I'm not disappointed at that tho! Thought it wore great!
I love that tag are changing perceptions. Let’s go tag.
They're crushing it recently!
I so want one
They are slightly overpriced. But they are nice.
I wanna get hands on to truly judge but they seem very well priced for the spec
@@WatchYourselfJorge the problem now is that everything is going to be compared to the price of a Tudor. I think this looks a great diver but I would put the price just touching £3000.
@@WatchYourselfJorge for £1500 I am expecting COSC levels of accuracy. I think that’s where we should be starting now. I’m quite amazed brands are not living up to that as to what sellita can manufacture I’m very surprised that they have not near Rolex accuracy.
Tag heuer, took you long enough
Indeed 👀
New leadership makes a HUGE difference. CEO, movement developer and young heir. Good things coming.
Why is there no information on the intricacies of the movement? Nothing on its antimagnetic capabilities (for instance)...
What would you like to know? But I can't find anything of magnetism resistance, for instance
Tag Aquaracers looks amazing until you put it on your wrist and feel the cheap. The bezel action sounds like plastic. The strap is rigid and not that comfortable. I would take the BB any day specially the latest versions.
Fair point on the bezel! I'd take a black bay too. The styling is more me but I reeeeally wanna play with one of these new Aquaracers to get a feel
Funny i feel the same about the BB. Just feels cheap. Might be the Homage thing they have going. Don’t own the aquaracer, but i have put it on the wrist. Feels like way better quality. IMO.
There's another downside, ppl will be wanting 39mm and not 42mm.
Things are getting smaller 👀
It’s really nice, but I’d rather an omega
I completely agree buuuut they're very different price points
Of course they beat awful overpriced fake-Rolex Tudor, the real challenge for the aqua racer is the Hydroconquest. To
Me the Longines Hydro is the best dive watch until you get to the Diver 300m
Lol.
Oooo contentious 😉 I think Tudors really well priced but that's a good point on the hydroconquest though!
🐐🐐🐐🐐
🤩🤩
Great they are upping their game, but Tissot (Gentleman) and Longines (New Hydroconquest GMT) are probably more worth looking at unfortunately.
The Tag Heuer Branding is a plus for me, not a negative....... It's all about the watch IMO.
You didn't mention the internal cyclops which I assume a lot have now.
Oh........ I love you too ; )
Not sure about the Tissot- but that HC is smoking hot
@@italianstallion3130 Hold an £850 Tissot Gentleman in one hand, and a £2850 Tag Heuer Carrera in the other ; )
They're massively upping their game. They're not all the way there yet but I love to see and encourage the progress they're making!
The GMT movement Is what Is called a “true” GMT ?
It's a caller GMT apparently, with an independently settable GMT hand
@@WatchYourselfJorgeso , this new TAG Gmt is not the “true” Gmt with jumping hour hand adjustment ?
this dial is fail
Fair enough! But a fair few disagree. Personally I like it
You got the timekeeping spec wrong for Tudor. The Black Bay range works to -2, +4 unless METAS certified or a 'female' calibre.
So I've done the Tudor training at St James in London, and they shave a second off the standard COSC -4/+6 to get -3/+5 to get a more stringent version of the COSC cert
@@WatchYourselfJorge So have I, you might want to go and check your notes or ask Shane 😉
Just checked and I'll happily put my hands up and say I was wrong! Sorry Shane! 😭 Like I say at the start of every video, happy to be corrected!
@@WatchYourselfJorge Did you go to the little Italian down the alley for lunch?
More importantly, did you come top three in kahoot!? 😈
The Italian is not more! They take you to the naval club now for steak! And I won the quiz and got the umbrella 😎
Hahaha, tag not even close to longines let along to tudor,.
But the point is the difference has become very narrow!
The TH31-00 in the new aquaracer is an AMT sa movement designed by Tag Heuer and produced by Manufacture AMT SA a company owned by Selitta and partnered with LVMH owns Tag Heuer.
Tudor and Brietling share movements made by Kenessi SA. The movements are designed by Tudor and Brietling and Norquain for their needs. Does Tudor make them. No. Do they design them. Yes. Are they considered in house. Yes.
Omega has all their movements made by ETA. All of them. ETA has a Omega division. They just make Omega movements. Are they produced by Omega. No. Designed by them. Yes. Are they in house. Yes. ETA is owned by the swatch group. So is Omega.
Rolex has Aegler Manufacturer SA make all their movements. Rolex designs the movements and Aegler makes them. Are they made by Rolex. No. Does Rolex design them. Yes. Is it considered in house. Yes.
Tag Heuer has AMT Manufacture SA make their movements. AMT is owned by Selitta and LVMH who also owns Tag Heuer. LVMH has a controlling stake in the company. Basically they funded most of it and Selitta runs it. Tag Heuer designs the movements and AMT SA makes them.
Are they made by Tag Heuer. No. Are they designed by Tag Heuer. Yes. Is it considered in house?
I own a Aqua-Terra, Explorer, Over seas, Planet Ocean etc. I know good watches. I own a Carrera Chrono also. The fit and finish of my Carrera is not inferior to my other watches. Maybe my overseas. But my omaga and Rolex cannot compare to that either.
I stopped in tonight to look at a few Tags while I was waiting for the wife. Tried on a Carrera Chrono Glass box. Wow. I was blown away. Fit and finish a level above my own Chrono. On par with most of my other watches.
Tried on the watch in the video. Again. Blown away. Fit and finish has come along way. The design and fit and finish punches far above it's weight. Well worth $3800. I paid $3300 by buying the Glass box too.
In my opinion..so much so I bought one. I would never have bought one in the past.
The bezel is silky smooth with audable clicks and the crown is as smooth as any watch I own.
The Carrera Day and Day Date are getting the new in house calibres in November.
I cannot think of a better diver at this price point. Can you?
I think there's a few great pieces at the price but this certainly is great!
@@WatchYourselfJorge What pieces at $3800 or around would be comparable? The Tudor BB is the only one at $4550 that I can think of. But that's a $750 jump.
Oris? Not in the same class in my opinion. Nice movement but their build quality is not quite as good. The Superocean is around $5000.
Used pieces for sure. You can get a Seamaster for $3800. But new?
