@@rosebrown6811 Thanks Rose. Saw her here in Montreal at a Saturday show at Café Campus a tad over three weeks ago, a little before the Corona wave swamped us. Got to chat with her manager who was in the audience. They were on their way back across the country to Vancouver and Vancouver Island. Sadly they hadn't received any copies of the new record for the merch table! Her backup band were outstanding.
@@lilstepnoel Where I live in Montréal, there are two homeless shelters, half a block in either direction from my home. That influenced my first take on the song, someone looking out their window at a homeless person passing by, then I found this, Frazey talking about the song: "The thing had come out all at once with these strange gospel lyrics about a lonesome farmer,” Ford says. “I listened back to the recording and wrote down all the verses. It wrote itself." Thanks for the reply.
I'm so glad you made this record with the Hodges! I'm so pleased that you are getting the recognition you so certainly deserve. You have a unique expression and talent.!

Frazey, you're gonna make us sail to the Island to see you again? You seem to not like Vancouver anymore, our tickets are practically useless and there's no reschedule date in sight for the foreseeable future. And still we don't wanna return the tix cuz we love you so much. We just wished you showed hometown fans some love.
When I first heard this song, I was in a bar and had to listen hard at the melody and beat. I thought it was classic R&B Soul cut with that keyboard/organ sound. Then, once I heard Frazey's warm, buttery voice and that slight quiver, I was like...no, is it a sensual Dolly Pardon song? I was shocked to learn it was new and recorded in 2014! I love it when a song surprises me like that. She definitely nailed it with this one, that's fo sho!!!
What a profound commentary on music discoverability that this song is not number one in the world. It's fantastic! Let's pray that Web3 allows us to bypass the recording industry and their current business practices. Brilliant!
I love this song so much, I found it accidentally on Spotify and now I am hooked. Frazey Ford you have such a wonderful voice and the composition of your song is perfect. The backing band are firing on all cylinders and sound amazing. Looking forward to so much more. Love it so much.
SO good! Can't get enough. More I listen, the more I love your music. Thank you and keep on keeping on. Props to the band, too! Tight. The sound is just .. yeah it's amazing.
I first heard this on a TV advert, I was shocked to see when it was released, I've no idea how I missed it. But Her voice is pure sweet jazzy fizz. I love her voice, atnd her lyrics. Frazey is pure talent !
Wow!! Frazey's vocals are no mean feat, but she let the keyboard steal it, Charles Hodges whirling away on the organ. The vid's a perfect homage to the songs' musicians, dedicated to guitarist Teenie Hodges, the colourful charactre, who passed away last june. What a great record to leave us with!
Wow, this is incredibly good. The arrangement is killer. With a lesser song the terrific horns and organ would just be showing off, but here they shine because they tightly integrate with the overall sound. I'm impressed.
The movie 'lovesong' brought me here. I started to play more songs from Frazey Ford, and now I can't stop. Her music is dragging me into another world.
@@jennifersokolov7822 I just listened to this song and saw your reply. It's been so long I worry about the accuracy of how I'll remember the story now, so some of this may be wrong. But from what I remember it was a full circle moment for Frazey. She was heavily influenced by soul music like Al Green. One day members of a band he used to record with (Hi Rhythm Section) heard her singing (I believe at a gas station, potentially on another cars stereo?) someone they were with recognized her and were eventually able to introduce them. So many years after they had influenced her, she entered into the studio (the one in the video) and recorded some songs with them. Al Green had also previously recorded with Hi Rhythm Section (songs like Love and Happiness and Lets Stay Together) in the same studio using many of the same instruments they used on Ford's new album. I can only imagine it was a dream come true for her, hanging out with the band, in a historic space, using those old sacred instruments to make her music. Not long after recording with, the guy who I believe was initially interested in working with her, Teenie Hodges passed away. That may not all be exactly correct, but it's the best I can remember it now.
