    In the UK most finds are not deep apart from hoards. Virtually all the land has been ploughed at some time. Because of habitation over thousands of years the good sites are densely covered with iron. Also people search for 6 to 8 hours on digs so coils and machines need to be lightweight. Hence why the Deus 1 and 2 are popular. On club digs on open fields most current IB machines are fine only factor is weight.

    I'm certainly going to try it out on a hammered silver, a Roman silver and a Roman bronze but in the ground!

    Interesting results ... wonder how it would do in an "old park" with a "high setting" when hunting for silver only? Thanks for sharing ... very informative =)

    That does look like a very neat machine to use, I hope you do well this fall with it with a larger coil, I have often thought the whites Tdi but didn't know much at all about it.
    Here is one vintage one for you Lewis, today I got this Sears 6000 Di Pro Series 3 and it looks like it was never used, came in a suitcase with two keys two C battery holders one chargeable one not, coil & manual, I couldn't pass it up for one bill because I have never seen the series 3 with the Sears brand, just another toy to experiment with, I sure like the old analog machines to mess with for fun, this one should be fun also as I want to compare it with the Whites 6000 Di Pro Series 3, I think they are maybe identical inside but the outside appearance is different.
    My Truck died on me last week but I still spend money on different machines and the good part is I am not in the dog house yet with the better half :)

      @@lewis1141951 Once I get the hang of these mid-range machines then I want to move up to the 71, that is the one I really want to play with in the near future. I am sure back in the day you played with those 70-80's whites also, you know I have found some deep items with those machines.

    The problem we have over here in England is we've had over 2000 +years of occupation and you can't knock out nails and iron and get high and low conductors at the same time.and I have a tdi sl with a razorback coil. Plus a vlf machine will get all the high and low conductors and still discrim the iron and nails out.put simply the tdi is good for a specific type of target but not all st the same time.

    • @lewis1141951
      @lewis1141951  5 лет назад +2

      By adjusting the ground balance you can get rid of a lot of the iron.
      I'm not sure if your hammered coins come in as a low conductor or high.
      if I lived in Good Old England I would tune out the iron , set it to high conductor and give it go.
      Then switch to low conductor and give it a go.
      If there's a high conductor in iron it sees it.

    Thank you for your videos they are very informative. Can you tell me where you got the straight shaft on yours? I am told they are only available for the TDI and not the SL?

    Tried my tdi out this morning but at work so my results were inconclusive,set the machine up at 10pulse mid gain and GB at 8 was quiet, went into high and rusty nails made a low grunt , dropped GB to cancel nail sound then I put a small silver sixpence in between the nails and not much difference.any ideas?

    • @lewis1141951
      @lewis1141951  4 года назад +1

      jconearth , Yes I made the cover from a heavy clear plastic that bed sheets come in from the store.
      There're in the shape of a box with a zipper on one end. Make a few holes here and there and one slit and you got it. I also pulled off the control nobs and added an Oring under each one to seal out the rain which also made the controls nobs more secure.
      Hope that helps !

    In the beginning of your video you said you researched PI detectors . Was the option to run the PI on low or high conductivity the only reason you went with the SL. I'm curious , I purchased the TDI Beach Hunter and if I was to cherry pick I would ignore the tone . During your research did you see something in the Beach Hunter that made it inferior to the SL other than the high low switch. . Thanks for the video, I think I'm also a metal detector junkie. I have six lol .Big Mex Detects wishes you luck and success in your detecting experience.

    • @lewis1141951
      @lewis1141951  5 лет назад +1

      Big Mex , yes I wanted to interchange coils easily . The Beach Hunters coils are hard wired to the control box.
