The Express Entry system in Canada uses the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) to score candidates applying for permanent residence. The CRS awards points based on four main factors:
1. *Core/Human Capital Factors* (Maximum 460-500 points):
- **Age**: Maximum 110 points for candidates aged 20-29.
- **Education**: Maximum 150 points for candidates with a Ph.D.
- **Language Proficiency**: Maximum 136 points for the first official language and 24 points for the second official language.
- **Work Experience**: Maximum 80 points for Canadian work experience.
2. *Spouse/Common-law Partner Factors* (Maximum 40 points):
- **Education**: Maximum 10 points.
- **Language Proficiency**: Maximum 20 points.
- **Canadian Work Experience**: Maximum 10 points.
3. *Skills Transferability Factors* (Maximum 100 points):
- A combination of education, foreign work experience, and language proficiency.
- Example: High language proficiency combined with post-secondary education can yield up to 50 points.
4. *Additional Points* (Maximum 600 points):
- **Provincial Nomination**: 600 points.
- **Valid Job Offer**: 50-200 points depending on the NOC code.
- **Canadian Education**: 15-30 points.
- **Siblings in Canada**: 15 points.
- **French Language Proficiency**: Up to 50 points.
- **Arranged Employment**: Up to 200 points.
Candidates with the highest CRS scores are invited to apply for permanent residence during regular Express Entry draws.
