This movie is a TRUE guilty pleasure for me, I'm ashamed, but I love it. I got it on DVD for my 15th birthday and I think the performances are just so genuine for how stupid the dialogue is. Very well done comedic acting for how problematic the dialogue would become.
This movie definitely hasn't aged well, but dammit, it's still funny as hell. I was 18 when it came out. It's been a family favorite ever since. To this day, we still quote the "aaaand theeeeennnn" line whenever it pops into our heads. :) Much like Biodome, it's a dumb guilty pleasure that could only be enjoyed in the 90s. Side note: some of the scenes were filmed in my hometown, Sierra Madre. The tailor shop doesn't exist anymore, sadly.
It's a special genre, stoner comedy. People with legit experience enjoying their passion turned into a magic mcguffin that in no way resembles actually getting stoned.....And yeah, I love this movie
That moment when you realise Dude, Where's My Car? contains better structure, narrative design, character design, and dialogue than almost all 2020s blockbusters.

I agree with everything except that it wasn’t malicious. It was always malicious that’s the whole point, guys weren’t calling other guys gay as a term of endearment, it was meant to hurt feelings. We can acknowledge that we were assholes at that time, the stuff was funny because of what we had normalized and it was fine for then
People did have issues with it. But they didn’t have the space to come forward and say it without judgement. Just say YOU didn’t have issue with it, or empathy for that matter.

Dude, that pottery on their fridge is Royal Doulton mugs. They're these collectible mugs called royal doultons. My dad used to sell them with antiques. They started at about $50 or so. Definitely not their's. And neither is the house. I never thought about it, but this house had to belong to one of their grandparents who recently died. I say recently because you know after a few years of these guys taking care of it, it's going to end up condemned and they'll be living in a tent city.
