Thanks for the sharing on Tencent. One thing special I suppose with Tencent is its shareholding, to what extent is Prosus Naspers' decision to trim still influential on Tencent?
Prosus current owns around 25% of Tencent. Due to the size of the stake, any significant selling will depress Tencent's price in the short term. Although, Naspers has recently said they no plans to sell further: economictimes.indiatimes.com/tech/technology/naspers-chairman-koos-bekker-says-company-has-no-plans-to-sell-tencent-stake/articleshow/103755280.cms
What’s your opinion is there a chance tencent might get delisted from us market or is it too big ? Many us funds invest in tencent and tencent owns big stake of us companies… It’s my only concern I made quite money I am 19 and invested 70% of it in tencent (65k $) 😅 I really love fundamentals of company and the way they operate Thanks for video 🙏
There's a small U.S. delisting risk but we simply avoid it by buying the Hong Kong listed shares. Nice work investing early at 19! Having 70% of your portfolio in one company is a concentration risk and you could be overexposed.
Tencent also have new opportunities that they are pushing into eg. Tencent Cloud. Their Hunyuan AI model had been integrated into many of their product with the aim of driving business value for users. This could translate into more uptake of their cloud & advertising solutions. People may not be aware of the huge investment portfolio that Tencent have. Buying Tencent now is akin to getting free investments in private companies like Epic Games, Riot Games and many Chinese startups.
Also I heard an interesting viewpoint from my Chinese colleague, where he thinks that in the foreseeable future, this Weixin infrastructure may be nationalized since it is so critical to the population. In this scenario, the Chinese govt will likely cap their fees that they can earn to run Weixin. Do u think this is a plausible risk moving forward? If yes, how should we take this into account in our valuation?
Thanks Roy! This is an interesting point. Full nationalization is a more extreme measure. If that were to happen, it would seriously shake investor confidence. It's more likely that the government impose stricter regulations (like we've have already seen in some areas) rather than outright nationalizing Tencent. But, yes, this is a plausible risk. Valuations are already depressed for Tencent. Instead, you could limit your exposure to what you're comfortable with. And for some investors, that is 0% in Tencent/China.
Can please do a round table on Ping An Insurance? ❤
We'll consider this :)
Please do a segment on SMIC. Thanks

Good points, Steven! We like Tencent too, but investors have to be comfortable with China's regulatory risk
Is it the same if buy from us market?
The Tencent listed in the U.S. is an American depositary receipt (ADR).
@@TheFifthPersonChannel but the value is still the same right compare to hk
Yes, it is the same

The continuous sound effects are very distracting and make listening on headphones almost impossible. Maybe something you guys should revisit
Thank you for the feedback!
If you believe in China fintech and you cant buy Ant as of now, Tencent is the best value choice.

But that's a comment 😂
Bought 400 shares @ HKD288, bullish for 2024 🐂
Very good buy! Huat lah!
Good price!
Maybe you shouldn’t use western way to evaluate china stock. US stock market is a rare beast.
Get rid of the sound effects is you want westerners to take you seriously. This isn’t a korean cooking show.
