Great job man. I have a baileigh rdb 150 bender. I was gonna buy their notcher. But after watching your video. I bought the rogue notcher and angle finder
Very nice unboxing and demo. They really should pay you for this. Nice job. I had a cheap notcher from Harbor Freight. Lasted 1 notch, and the screw holding the guide block to the frame stripped out, creating far too much flex in the arbor. Utter Garbage. Now I have to figure out if I can swing this or not.
Nice review and a very nice notcher from Rogue Fab. Just wondering though what you would expect from a $60 Harbor Freight with bushings and suggested angle indicator versus the Rogue Fab with shaft needle bearings at over 10x the money. They both have their place. For the garage guy, the $60 Harbor Freight will do an okay job. It's obviously served you well while you used it. But true frame/chassis builders would more than likely opt for the $600+ notcher instead. Not knocking either one, they both do a job within their limits. Nice video!
I want one of these Rogue fab notchers... But hay I am a machinist and I should be able to build one... hmmm. Lets see. I have a lathe. So I am going to mount an arbor shaft into the lathe chuck to hold the hole saw extended out from the lathe chuck then I am going to come up with a way to remove my tool post then mount 2 8 inch plates. One will be bolted down tight then the next one will bolt down to that plat but have a center pivot. It will have slots cut so it can be further bolted down around the parameter. Then I will figure out how to mount a vise on this that can be raised and lowered and tightened to clamp on the tubing. The lathe carriage will hold the tube then move the tube into the hole saw mounted in the chuck to cut the notch. It will be a bit more awkward to do it this way but I think it will work pretty well once I get it all figured out. Mounting a vise should be super easy but making that vise adjustable up and down to center the tube with the hole saw will be a bit harder but can be as simple as just a back plate with vertical slots milled in to hold the vise or clamp setup. I have a rotary table on my mill so I will cut/engrave tiny slots every 1/2 degree then mark them, I am going to mark it 360 degrees so I can easily visualize where I am on angle of the tube. This should work out pretty well. I guess I could just copy the rogue fab notcher but I like the idea of using my lathe if possible. Once I get the bugs worked out it should be easy to remove the tool post, bolt on the notcher setup, clamp the hole saw arbor in the chuck and start cutting notches accurately. Any one know what hole saws hold up well on a tube notcher?
Unbelievable. Today most the same box arrived at my home. Only difference was I got an additional clamp block instead of the roller which I already had. Mine is an XHD also .
The marks on the Arbor side are just an indication of center, they are not going to be perfect. You may need to do some test cuts to make sure you are perfectly centered in the tube. The easy way to see if you are off center is once the cut is complete you may have the tube still connected by a small sliver of metal. You just need to adjust the arbor up or down towards that small sliver. The beauty of this system is that you can do off set notches of you wanted.
Great display on how this product works. You pointed out even the smallest details of this notcher that most would overlook. 👏👏👏 bravo
👏👏👏 Very informative and thank you! - Josh in customer service

If you had the arbor set on zero, per their marks, that notch was way offset. You mind elaborating on that a little more?
