And She-Ra did it as well. Adora goes from being the height of an average 17-18 year old to 8 feet tall. It's so odd many people deride that change for being indicative of some sort of emasculation when it's clear it was done to make the transformation more meaningful. Why does calling upon the power of the entire planet and the ancient builders of everything just give Adam and Adora a wardrobe change in the originals?

I noticed there’s almost a tremble in his voice when he says “by the power of gray skull” like calling on the power is either going to hurt for the transformation or even after all this time it’s something you never get used to. And can we just mention that score?
Or maybe it's because he feels the weight of that burden. That he literally becomes the most powerful man in the universe given that the sword is a conduit to all the magic. I remember a transformation in the original series at the feet of Castle Grayskull. How the sword seemed to send out a carrier signal that goes down to the center of the planet and then the energy is drawn back up from the abyss and into the sword, enabling the transformation. I can forgive the sailor moon transformation style; they kept the echo in his voice and threw in a huge distinction in height and build. And gave that vest a darker shade.
His folks are literally in the castle with him, even if they are some place else with the rest of the party how do they not hear the epic soundtrack or light show?
As a fan of the golden age of japanease animation I can tell you this scene is one of the best transformation I have ever seen. I agree the show as flaws but it contains few epic moments like this one. I think US people could see this as a treason of their own animation style, but as a random Belgian guy who grew up with both cultures on TV (and the belgium comic style) I think this is awesome. It's important to tell it to the author of the show, they have a truly talented crew, they just need good writers.
@@_Stormfather I was just pointing the fact that not many people tell they like the animation, I've read "it's correct", while it's one of the best for a serie, most comments only critic the plot, if people doesn't tell they like we can't be sure they liked, it's a problem, because if the author suddently put all efforts on the plot it could decrease the quality of the good thing (because they have to put money on each teams). We need both. We must keep in mind that "if" the author fix the plot with this quality of product He-Man could become the most epic show of the history. It's like Lord of the Ring merged with Starwars and Guardian of the Galaxy, the potential is incredible. ^^

Also this was 5 parts of a 10 part series so let's see what happens in the last 5 episodes and just cause SPOILERS... He-Man "Died" doesn't mean he actually DIED! It's a fantasy/sci-fi show so many characters from those types of movies and shows come back from the dead... Examples Harry Potter and Gandalf.

I get her being pissed at being lied to and everything, but she basically cut off ties with her old life and was super bitter about the whole thing. It'd be like Jimmy Olsen quitting the Daily Planet and cutting off all ties with all his friends just because he found out Clark Kent is Superman; it is an overreaction, and Teela stayed why too bitter for way too long about the whole thing. But other than that, and the wise Sorceress falling for an obvious trap right in the beginning, I thought there were no really issues with any of the characters. I even liked how they flushed out some of them. And yes, I noticed that He-Man isn't in the title. But he has always been the main character before. Also, think about how prominent he was in the promotional material. A significant amount of that awesome teaser was He-Man and Skeletor. I just feel maybe they were a little dishonest about what the show was about. But I am not boycotting it or anything, and am still looking forward to Part 2.

It looks pretty sure, but a remake of the original transformation with the same artists would have bee way better. He-Man is supposed to explode and radiate with power like a supersaiyan, with his new getup formed in the explosion. He's also not supposed to be so scrawny before hand, as Eternian males are naturally big and muscly, even the old men with fat bellies and long scraggly beards have biceps and chest muscles. His physique is not supposed to become inhuman, he's always shaped like a real human being that works out, he just gets magically stronger.. You know ... With Magic, and doesn't need his muscles looking like Toguro from Yu Yu Hakusho. The thing I do get though is people not recognizing he's He-Man (other than his Mother). Some reasons I can see people mistaking who he is, is because he gets slightly tanner and his hair goes from bright yellow, to more of a light shade of orange. I'd be ok with him remaining the same size, but his muscles maybe pumping like 10% more just to show he is juiced on the power. His voice and the way he talks changes, his personality and the way he carries himself.. I guess I don't see a problem with people not recognizing him so much, maybe just those who literally look at his face every day.

I love Mark Hamill as a VA, but he was really just doing his Joker voice here. Plus, this Skeletor lacked any of the charm of the previous versions. Most of all though, the 2002 show is actually good, unlike this new one

to bad the show sucks. the music and animation are great. the VA for Adam/He-Man also did a prety good job for what he was given and I dont mind Joker Skelitor.
I was dissapointed by how they done this series. But this transformation scene is one of the better 'remake' scenes ive seen in any tv show, movie or game. They paid enough homage to the old show but managed to make the new one epic in its own way.

Honestly, I think the show was okay. Though I’d have definitely preferred He-Man actually being the focus! Tbh, they really should’ve been up front about what the story was going to be like, instead of pretending that He-Man was going to be the focus of the show.
I didn't even know what was promised until I saw this on trending or some shit, but I still understood why people were upset. Though I still enjoyed it myself even if it wasn't centered around He-Man. The Animation, Soundtrack, and having other characters getting a moment to shine like Orko for example was good enough for me.
I actually thought the focus was gping to be about Adam having to deal with issues without He-Man for like the first season. At least that's what I took from the trailers

The show is perfect imo, I understand what they were trying to do, to not have He-Man powered up in every episode, if that was the case, the good guys would win in every episode and make it boring, the fact that powered up He-Man came back in episode 10 made sense and made fans long for his comeback, but that’s my opinion, looking forward to season 2
I'm watching that part again and again and again, it is really well made, the music, animation, everything in this sequence is great, the first episode 1 is definitny the better of this series
They made a He-man show with no He-man. If they wanted to make a series about a badass female character from the masters of the universe, they could've used She-ra. But instead, they made it look like it would be a series about He-man and got rid of him in the first episode. I am pissed. I feel cheated.
That's the point tho, when the show's literally called He-Man but he isn't the main character of his own show these people have the absolute right to be angry. I can understand tho if these first few episodes were Teela focused because Adam was dead and it would switch back to him later but the 5th ep ending doesn't help.

The series took a turn which most fans didn’t want to see, if they wanted to see a woman antagonist of the show they would have watched the recent She Ra series. Bare man wanted to see He man kick some mean ass with this awesome animations.
Wow, a seemingly lazy prince of a kingdom who is in fact the protector of the land but hides it as per his duty, has a kickass theme and transformation. You could make a whole story around this guy...

Best modern transformation in my opinion because it stays quite true to the original He-Man transformation while also adding a modern aesthetic. Oh and Cringer looks awesome. I love Cringer. :3
I think Cringer is the unsung hero of this series. Like, the cat is scared out of his mind most of the time, and still always comes around. Also, I now think that th transformation actually boosts his courage and fortitude as well as size and strength, which is why Battle Cat is never as cowardly as Cringer.
Too bad this show isn't of the same quality as She-Ra. Would have been cool to see the same people that made She-Ra make this one as part of the same universe

Absolutely the most dope transformation sequence. When that bass drops and you start strumming to the beat and headbanging with it until he says "I have the Power!" and explodes into an ethereal light being getting upgraded by the Power of Grayskull. Definitely just the sickest sequence. Only rivaled by the equally epic transformation with Teela in Revolution.

Man, Teela was amazing in her own way, did she need to change to look bad? That's the real machismo, Kevin Smith changed the character because he didn't think she was badass, fuck, she was a strategist, battle leader, general, if a woman like that isn't badass I don't know what she is anymore, what she lacked in old He-Man was a bigger participation, but Kevin exaggerated by taking He-Man for that, so it gives an idea that Teela only shined because He-Man was removed, otherwise she would be completely useless, "ah but if the He-Man wasn't removed he would easily win everything" negative, it was just creating difficulties for He-Man, as Marvel does with its characters, the Hulk is super strong, but the avengers don't win just because they have him in the team, in the movies, Marvel creates difficulties for the Hulk without having to take him ridiculously out of the movie, hurting the memory of the fans and generating hatred, in the same way with Thor or with Iron Man, in my opinion He-Man could have split the sword into 2 getting half the strength of He-Man, then he gives the other half to Teela and the 2 form a double to hunt the skeletor, like that, with He-Man 50% weaker, the skeletor could fight on equal terms with He-Man, then Teela comes in to help, they could even have better explored Teela's feelings for the He-Man in the midst of hunting the skeletor, something that had in He-Man of the 80's, Teela seemed to like He-Man, but no, they preferred to be ignorant and liars, they preferred to hurt the fans' memory and still on top of blaming us for their failure, Netflix missed a huge opportunity here, if they wanted a series with female prominence, if they wanted to seal and empower women, WHY THEN DID THEN'T THE SHE-HA SERIES (with She-ha as the protagonist ) IN THE SAME STYLE AS THE HE-MAN ?????... @@LUCKO2022 100% Agree. Magical Girl transformations belong in comedy, or on Magical Girls. It looks pretty sure, but a remake of the original transformation with the same artists would have bee way better. He-Man is supposed to explode and radiate with power like a supersaiyan, with his new getup formed in the explosion. He's also not supposed to be so scrawny before hand, as Eternian males are naturally big and muscly, even the old men with fat bellies and long scraggly beards have biceps and chest muscles. His physique is not supposed to become inhuman, he's always shaped like a real human being that works out, he just gets magically stronger.. You know ... With Magic, and doesn't need his muscles looking like Toguro from Yu Yu Hakusho.
The thing I do get though is people not recognizing he's He-Man (other than his Mother). Some reasons I can see people mistaking who he is, is because he gets slightly tanner and his hair goes from bright yellow, to more of a light shade of orange. I'd be ok with him remaining the same size, but his muscles maybe pumping like 10% more just to show he is juiced on the power. His voice and the way he talks changes, his personality and the way he carries himself.. I guess I don't see a problem with people not recognizing him so much, maybe just those who literally look at his face every day.

@@kaicreech7336 the animation in the 2002 show at least has better frame rate, though that's about it. Still, Skeletor was best in the 80s, good in 2002, and shit in this one. I love Mark Hamill as a VA, but he was really just doing his Joker voice here. Plus, this Skeletor lacked any of the charm of the previous versions.

Agree. I like the Filmation sword (in fact, I have it tattooed on my right arm) but this sword is very beautiful, classic and very similar from the mini comics
It really has that sharp edge and three-dimensional shape to it. Even without the magic you can sense it has the power.

to bad the show sucks. the music and animation are great. the VA for Adam/He-Man also did a prety good job for what he was given and I dont mind Joker Skelitor.
I was dissapointed by how they done this series. But this transformation scene is one of the better 'remake' scenes ive seen in any tv show, movie or game. They paid enough homage to the old show but managed to make the new one epic in its own way.
You may hate the other parts, but you can't deny that this is the best part.

I keep watching it, and it's still awesome. Drawing a connection to Sailor Moon was a stroke of genius that stands on both parody and tribute.

Honestly, I think the show was okay. Though I’d have definitely preferred He-Man actually being the focus! Tbh, they really should’ve been up front about what the story was going to be like, instead of pretending that He-Man was going to be the focus of the show.
I didn't even know what was promised until I saw this on trending or some shit, but I still understood why people were upset. Though I still enjoyed it myself even if it wasn't centered around He-Man. The Animation, Soundtrack, and having other characters getting a moment to shine like Orko for example was good enough for me.

The show is perfect imo, I understand what they were trying to do, to not have He-Man powered up in every episode, if that was the case, the good guys would win in every episode and make it boring, the fact that powered up He-Man came back in episode 10 made sense and made fans long for his comeback, but that’s my opinion, looking forward to season 2

I haven't seen anyone comment on the crest on He-Man's harness. Making an "H" that's also a double-sided "M" was very clever.
They made a He-man show with no He-man. If they wanted to make a series about a badass female character from the masters of the universe, they could've used She-ra. But instead, they made it look like it would be a series about He-man and got rid of him in the first episode. I am pissed. I feel cheated.

The series took a turn which most fans didn’t want to see, if they wanted to see a woman antagonist of the show they would have watched the recent She Ra series. Bare man wanted to see He man kick some mean ass with this awesome animations.

Best modern transformation in my opinion because it stays quite true to the original He-Man transformation while also adding a modern aesthetic.

I think Cringer is the unsung hero of this series. Like, the cat is scared out of his mind most of the time, and still always comes around.
Also, I now think that th transformation actually boosts his courage and fortitude as well as size and strength, which is why Battle Cat is never as cowardly as Cringer.

Absolutely the most dope transformation sequence. When that bass drops and you start strumming to the beat and headbanging with it until he says "I have the Power!" and explodes into an ethereal light being getting upgraded by the Power of Grayskull. Definitely just the sickest sequence. Only rivaled by the equally epic transformation with Teela in Revolution.
I actually think that the transformation looks cool, and I like the voice acting too.
I saw this scen and thought " Damn are they gonna do this transformation everytime?! Thats gonna be sick" ...little did I know...

are not just the lies, they wanted to show an amazing woman that is Teela, but they grossly messed up that part, I think in Kevin Smith's view a woman to be amazing, she has to be pumped like a guy and she has to rebel against everything and everyone at a time when everyone needs her, get a weird haircut, what crazy? Man, Teela was amazing in her own way, did she need to change to look bad? That's the real machismo, Kevin Smith changed the character because he didn't think she was badass, fuck, she was a strategist, battle leader, general, if a woman like that isn't badass I don't know what she is anymore, what she lacked in old He-Man was a bigger participation, but Kevin exaggerated by taking He-Man for that, so it gives an idea that Teela only shined because He-Man was removed, otherwise she would be completely useless, "ah but if the He-Man wasn't removed he would easily win everything" negative, it was just creating difficulties for He-Man, as Marvel does with its characters, the Hulk is super strong, but the avengers don't win just because they have him in the team, in the movies, Marvel creates difficulties for the Hulk without having to take him ridiculously out of the movie, hurting the memory of the fans and generating hatred, in the same way with Thor or with Iron Man, in my opinion He-Man could have split the sword into 2 getting half the strength of He-Man, then he gives the other half to Teela and the 2 form a double to hunt the skeletor, like that, with He-Man 50% weaker, the skeletor could fight on equal terms with He-Man, then Teela comes in to help, they could even have better explored Teela's feelings for the He-Man in the midst of hunting the skeletor, something that had in He-Man of the 80's, Teela seemed to like He-Man, but no, they preferred to be ignorant and liars, they preferred to hurt the fans' memory and still on top of blaming us for their failure, Netflix missed a huge opportunity here, if they wanted a series with female prominence, if they wanted to seal and empower women, WHY THEN DID THEN'T THE SHE-HA SERIES (with She-ha as the protagonist ) IN THE SAME STYLE AS THE HE-MAN ?????... You know? She-ha is there for this... man, see how things are? Hence we who are sexist according to Kevin Smith himself 😐

You talk about Hulk having certain difficulties instead of being removed but the exact opposite happens in Infinity War.
The show itself points out that splitting the sword cancels the He-Man transformation, meaning it’s Adam and Teela vs Skeletor.
One, it’s SHE-RA. And two, that show was made by Dreamworks, not Mattel.
For the record, the show does explore why Teela is angry at Adam. But everyone who hate the show as much as you do don’t seem to have picked up on it. Teela has no idea who to mourn. He-Man, the person she actually likes, or Adam, the guy who was her friend and lied to her. They are the same person, which creates an endless dilemma in her head. Sure, Adam is a saviour, but that doesn’t excuse him from lying to his friend and family. I like that the show has a realistic approach to the scenario.
I mean, you literally talked about Teela being ugly because of a fringe cut. I’m not sure I see eye-to-eye with Kevin Smith, but I’d take a guess and say he’s seen actual sexist comments online.
I don’t care what all the haters say; THIS WAS EPIC!!!!!!!! A tad Sailor Moon-ish, but very dramatic!!
