Ive always loved sleds(snowmobiles), this just takes it to the streets. For those who are older and find it difficult to ride a motorcycle this is a great solution.
actually it handles better than a street bike. i tried it out at the dealer. the 3 wheels makes it way safer in the rain, and safer in the turns, and it is FAST! and its unique. i dont know anyone personally right now that rides one. im getting one soon.
I was just checking out the Fifth Gear review. A green T-Rex can be glimpsed in the background at West Coast Customs during most episodes of Pimp My Ride.
Absolutely love it. A mind that is open to new and exciting and environmentally benefitical things will find it great! Bravo. Now, import more of the T-Rex or make a striking track version of this Spyder with a monsterous aero kit.
2 of my friends work for a motorcycle shop and got to demo these things for a day, they seem pretty fun and like syracusebws said, their something different, my buddy thought it would keep up with my R1 though and it wouldn't at all, even my buddy on a gsxr600 beat it, but still might be fun for a change up here and there!
I like the fact that when you park, there is no kick stand .....this means you don`t have to look for a flat spot to park it.....plus the thing has reverse
@fl4mz3 Here in the US you are not allowed to lane split anyway (unless you live in CA and some other few states). Even with a scooter you end up stuck behind a car.
listen ive had 3 american cars that have given me not trouble at all. First truck i had was a 92 chevy silverado 5speed with the 350, 250,000 miles and the only things that had been replace was the clutch and the alternator, and of course shocks and brake pads basic maintenence stuff. Only reason i got rid of it was a rollover, my bro decided to hit a snow drift at 60... can am is a canadian company that has been making motorcycles and atvs for years... its gonna be reliable
I'm in a wheelchair and I have wanted to drive a streetbike but never could now I can and they will get faster ducati is also making a model like the spider so I'm really happy and can't wait to trick mine out
@SoldierCyfix Have you ever been on one? They are awesome fun to ride, like a snowmobile, so I am not really agreeing with your handling comment, they are different but fun
I rode one of these and while i prefer my sportster i liked it but i would buy a VRod before one of these, This would be a great trike for long trips or for just my wife
It is hard to decide the Can-Am Spyder cost $15,000 to $17.000 and the T-Rex maybe three times more but both are very cool looking, the TRex need a windshield. I hope mass production will lower the price it will be a fun commuter .
i dont know if it's illegal here in la, but whenever i get stuck in a traffic..or just on the regular trip i see at least 3 motorcycles drive by my car... when you see them you just wish you had a bike.
AFter back surgery, around 10 years ago, and having a little steel down near L-4 and L-5 discs, It's tough being able to support the weight that picks up as you go real slow making turns, especially around the hills in san francisco. I can't support a two wheel vehicle anymore...like when I would have to lift it back to straight from a 45 degree angle, etc. I cannot lift a bike fallen on the ground.. So this little guy, and of course a sidecar bike are just vat de doctor ordered for me...
It's a blast? No, My R1 is a blast. This looks kinda fun. It does resemble a snowmobile. Its traction control is kinda sophisticated. If I was really old (or God forbid, handicapped) and still wanted to feel like I was riding a MC, then this could make sense. Otherwise, it would be sort of like nice to play with, but I could think of a lot better things to do with 15-17k!
isn't it amazing these can be legal in all states being considered a motorcycle, while it has taken years to get high-performance European diesel cars legally into the US
The only thing i can say about it that its slow as hell and to high that means unstable which means no high speed corners then what is the point of having one if you'll not have fun. Just for driving from point A to point B then you can buy a good car for same amount of money.
I got one of these (though if I had to pick a 3 wheel worth having I'd want the trirod a3 adrenaline) I use to ride a suzuki savage and wiped out on it totaling my bike, girl threw a fit and din't want me to buy a bike and I didn't want a car so this was the compromise, all in all I'm happy with it though the real deal is more fun.
I'd take the t-rex's seating position rather than the spyder's, only since they both don't require balancing. Take a look at the Piaggio mp3, damn thing leans but is no better than a really wide bike. Give me servo controlled balancing on a leaning trike with a jet fighter cockpit that has seats with back rests. I can dream can't I.
question....can it wheelee! or is for senior citizens looks like a snowmobile, maybe it would be good for the mail delivery, sorry im 47 and 2 wheels is still more appealing then that edsel!
I'm sure the Can-Am is fun to operate, but I don't feel it would be as fun as a normal two-wheeled motorcycle. I see someone on a Can-Am everynow and then in my city, and when I'm passing by them on my motorcycle I want to pop-a-wheelie so bad, hahaha.
The Carver (not US legal) would be over 50 grand USD The T-Rex is also 50+ grand USD The Can-Am Spyder is 15+ grand USD After doing the math.........the Can-Am Spyder is "the best bang for the buck"
I was in a motorcycle crash. Smashed my leg into about 13 pieces. Since then, i've been on one of these 3 wheel bikes. Yes, it looks gay and fucking retarded, but OMG, it is soo stable, it has great traction on watery roads and dirt and gravel. I love it. Wish it looked different, but its safer, and I love it.
Precisely: It's for people who can't ride motorcyles, or are afraid to -- like my wife. I'll stick to my bike, thankyouverymuch, but for her, it's perfect.
This would be great to compliment my motorcycles, not take their place. These would be nice in icey or wet conditions and just fun in general. While it may not be as exciting as most motorcycles, it sure as heck beats the heck out of any car.
I saw one that they claim can hit 200 on the dash and I actually think it is alright but it is kinda biting off the T-Rex alot. I personally feel if you want to ride something thats a lil different then thats kool, I'd probably rather have a crotch rocket myself tho, L's Up.
I don't care what anyone says, when I win the lottery, I am going to get a Ducati, a cherry Pan head, a Lotus Elan, a microlight flier and one of these !!!
It's not a motorcyle, even BRP says it's not. So why compare it to one??? Its just a new type of vehical. So stop comparing it to a motorcyle or T-Rex. I have one and they are slot of fun to drive, basically like a street legal quad.
Ive always loved sleds(snowmobiles), this just takes it to the streets. For those who are older and find it difficult to ride a motorcycle this is a great solution.

Yeah. A real man is a man with one ball without needing another one.
registration will depend on what state you register it in. Some go by weight, some by the number of wheels and some depend on open or closed cockpit.
I was just checking out the Fifth Gear review. A green T-Rex can be glimpsed in the background at West Coast Customs during most episodes of Pimp My Ride.

this thing is awesome in person, there is one in Eastlake (Chula Vista, CA) I think I may get one myself if the gas milage is good.
I like the fact that when you park, there is no kick stand .....this means you don`t have to look for a flat spot to park it.....plus the thing has reverse
that reminds me of a snowmobile on wheels. looks fun
Bombardier makes the best snow-going vehicles and trains on the entire planet, that's not trash.
it's basically a reverse trike with a mark-up.
the handling is probably awesome though, considering the t-rex' handling is really good.
@fl4mz3 Here in the US you are not allowed to lane split anyway (unless you live in CA and some other few states).
Even with a scooter you end up stuck behind a car.
Some guy has a black one here in my town, they're really cool in person. They look alot sportier in person then on a video too.
I think they look great. I saw 3 of them today but didn't get to stop and look.
listen ive had 3 american cars that have given me not trouble at all. It looks like a load of fun, don't know why people feel they have to hate on something they never tried out. People are so dumb.
Are these safer than 2 wheel motorcycles? For people who are concerned about safety.
Not to be critical but, could the seating position be lowered and put a steering wheel on it?
i dont know if it's illegal here in la, but whenever i get stuck in a traffic..or just on the regular trip i see at least 3 motorcycles drive by my car... when you see them you just wish you had a bike.
@six2112 Good, but does the upside down antigravity cup holder come standard or is it like only available with the El Grande version?
How do you not know the lotus elise?
they go for about $55,000+
AFter back surgery, around 10 years ago, and having a little steel down near L-4 and L-5 discs, It's tough being able to support the weight that picks up as you go real slow making turns, especially around the hills in san francisco. Seen these vehicles appear as a prize on "The Price is Right".
They start at $16,500 with the semi-auto
transmission bikes starting about $2,000 more.
i really like it! Price? anyone?
why dont they put a canopy on it for weather proofing and protect from the elements and save on gas reduced weight and cut done on power too
No shit. Perfect for the new rider/ the guy with multiple concussions who just cant let it go.

this is the sickiest ride to have! lol!
i sat on one of these before
very comfortable
wow. its like a snowmobile. just like the lady said and like a T-REX without roof cover.
isn't it amazing these can be legal in all states being considered a motorcycle, while it has taken years to get high-performance European diesel cars legally into the US
i wonder if you could wheelie with one of these?
this thing is great.
and the look from people as you pass them is good too
they are like
what, the....
does it have power steering?

Just heard on the Orlando News, Channel 9 tv, that Kissimmee Florida police are now using these.
I got one of these (though if I had to pick a 3 wheel worth having I'd want the trirod a3 adrenaline) I use to ride a suzuki savage and wiped out on it totaling my bike, girl threw a fit and din't want me to buy a bike and I didn't want a car so this was the compromise, all in all I'm happy with it though the real deal is more fun.
my uncle works for that company and i got to ride one of the firt ones
@shadedude123 No not 6000 dollars. They cost $16000+
Because it's to be like a snowmobile through Can-Am is part of Bombardier who invented the snowmobile.
i think they look cool
Yeah me too. But do you have an extra 40,000?
Are they rear wheel drive or what...?
I wonder is a wheelie possible? probs not by the look of it! ah well
I'd take the t-rex's seating position rather than the spyder's, only since they both don't require balancing. Take a look at the Piaggio mp3, damn thing leans but is no better than a really wide bike. Who put the wheels on a jetski?
My dad just bought one of these last week
question....can it wheelee! or is for senior citizens looks like a snowmobile, maybe it would be good for the mail delivery, sorry im 47 and 2 wheels is still more appealing then that edsel!
I like it!
You cant lean in turns and thats a major design flaw that compromises performance look at the Piagio MP3 it leans in turns and its a trike mo-ped .
The sad part is, I see those things driving around town all the time now...
FYI i have a bike, and have been riding them for many years... just thought you should know
That's cool!!
hey who put wheels on that snowmobile
the point is that this machine does not try to be a 2 wheel motorbike...it's just another kind of vehicle
The Carver (not US legal) would be over 50 grand USD
The T-Rex is also 50+ grand USD
The Can-Am Spyder is 15+ grand USD
After doing the math.........the Can-Am Spyder is "the best bang for the buck"
@wrabit79 not in CA
Yeah and it's fun as all hell
looks like a snowmobile too me!!!
thts the same (altered) chassis as the rev platform skidoos.... no sea doo in that... all SKI-Doo baby!
I was in a motorcycle crash. Smashed my leg into about 13 pieces. Since then, i've been on one of these 3 wheel bikes. Yes, it looks gay and fucking retarded, but OMG, it is soo stable, it has great traction on watery roads and dirt and gravel. I love it. Wish it looked different, but its safer, and I love it.
looks like it would understeer like mad
This require a motorcycle license?
he this just a kin to the snow mobile.
im shure i can mod a winter cat to ride on the roads.
i agree
@zdanmixxz
Theres no space in Europe for a 3 wheeler? You might have crosswalks confused with the roads. Theres no space for Hummers and Tanks
That'll be by the rear wheel then! lol didnt watch all the video b4 posting!
Still, it looks weird, and you won't get the same feeling as two wheels!
that thing is sweet
do you still need a bike licence???
@jamesroydavies Bigger than a 225?
at the texas ranger game they were giveng away 2 of them or 35,000 dollars i want that spyder so bad i would do anything to get that so bad
Training wheels?
Mad!
looks like a jet ski
What about turns maybe that thing could flip. get croked and flip over. Would that be good for a person who likes to drink and ride motocycles.
should have the 2 wheels on the back.
Precisely: It's for people who can't ride motorcyles, or are afraid to -- like my wife. I'll stick to my bike, thankyouverymuch, but for her, it's perfect.
@FamousBenjii182 What did you expect from a Canadian company
This would be great to compliment my motorcycles, not take their place. These would be nice in icey or wet conditions and just fun in general. While it may not be as exciting as most motorcycles, it sure as heck beats the heck out of any car.
In most states this is considered a motorcycle. I thought the same thing.
LOL,told you.I don't think they even sold one of these motorcycles.
I saw one that they claim can hit 200 on the dash and I actually think it is alright but it is kinda biting off the T-Rex alot. I personally feel if you want to ride something thats a lil different then thats kool, I'd probably rather have a crotch rocket myself tho, L's Up.
@supreme562krew What's your point?
106 hp...... I would buy it
I don't care what anyone says, when I win the lottery, I am going to get a Ducati, a cherry Pan head, a Lotus Elan, a microlight flier and one of these !!!
Yea maybe if he would have been pushing it but you can tell he was driving slow, besides all the vid of him ridding is obviously sped up.
The spyder - For those who can't ride on 2 wheels hehehe
No lean = No fun. Two wheels all the way. (Opinion: They should have built this to seat 3 people.)
Unlike ANY other vehicle ?
is that like ever ?
Honda Gold WIng has a reverse, maybe not an engine driven one, but ....
It needs a thumb throttle.
my moms boyfriend is getting one this month.
I was stating that you didnt know what you were talking about, to put it simply.
It's not a motorcyle, even BRP says it's not. So why compare it to one??? Its just a new type of vehical. So stop comparing it to a motorcyle or T-Rex. I have one and they are slot of fun to drive, basically like a street legal quad.
110 max speed ?? its not for me it would be like riding a scooter after being on my r1 for so long
