    This great! And I just located a vintage copy in fine shape! This will make a dandy summer project.

    This is nothing like Mendelssohn. It could be argued that it is second only to the Elgar sonata

    Nice attempt at Mendelssohn but fails. Too much stodgy bombast first mvmt. Tempos need to be almost 2X faster, especially 2nd mvmt. When we finally get something contrapuntal it's the boring 3rd mvmt. Fugue. :-(

      I agree. First movement is let down by some weak moments - especially trying to build to a climax by just repeating the same 2 chords over and over again for several bars… adding a new musical idea about 40 seconds from the close… this is not a musical masterpiece
